I went in to have a routine oil change and found out that I needed to replace my rack and pinion. My Jeep is a 2015 Grand Cherokee with less than 45,000 miles. The primary use of the vehicle is just getting back and forth to work and it has never been driven off of a paved road. This is not a failure that should be incurred this early on in the Jeeps life with an owner that is only driving it casually.
It's been since may 2018 with in/out visits to the dealership for a constant problem. My steering wheel wobbles over 70mph on my 2015 Grand Cherokee wk2 high altitude, all standard features. This started after 26k miles and now I have 39k miles. I've researched dozens of forums and read through tsbs with no solution. I had the dealer replace the tires, twice, with michelin premier ltx 20inch tires, several road force tests, high speed balances, several alignments, rack and pinion replaced, front wheel bearing assemblies replaced, all new shocks and after alllllllllll of that, she still wobbles!!!!!!! the dealer has thrown their hands up and will not help me any further. The steering wheel only wobbles between 70-80mph. Another customer's wheels were placed on my car and tested with same issue. Privately owned alignment centers also confirmed a spot on alignment and wheel balance. All bushings appear to be intact. The Jeep is not safe to drive on the highway.
