general problems of the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced a brief intermittent display of the rearview camera image while reversing. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the radio software update was performed under NHTSA campaign number: 24v436000 (back over prevention); however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where an unknown repair was performed; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the contact was advised that the vehicle needed to be retained for servicing. The vehicle remained at the dealer for 7 months. The dealer had replaced the two side cameras, the control module and had performed the software update with the assistance of a Jeep factory engineer; however, the failure persisted. The engineer determined that the camera wiring harness needed to be replaced; however, the part had been discontinued. The engineer determined that the wiring harness needed to be bypassed, and a patch cord needed to be installed. The dealer called the contact and informed the contact that the rearview camera was operating as intended after the installation of the cord patch. The contact declined the vehicle repair with a cord patch and inquired about buy-back assistance. The contact stated that the cord patch reduced the integrity of the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000.
