Three problems related to differential unit have been reported for the 1999 Jeep Laredo. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Purchased a 1999 Jeep grand cherokee Laredo on 12/23/2002 with 36400 miles on it. I have had the front brake rotors replaced twice in 4 months. Now the rear differential I. E. Rear wheel bearings need to be replaced. Estimated to have $800. 00 in repair, and Jeep is making a horrible whining, grinding noise. Company refuses to stand by their product. Current mileage 52,000. I have been told that this particular part should last the lifetime of the vehicle. Another mechanic told us this year and model that Jeep is known for this trouble along with the brake problem. Why doesn't someone make Jeep CO. Accountable for mechanical defects?.
We own a 1999 Jeep grand cherokee larado and have had nothing but problems since we bought it. The drivers side door lock has gone bad you can lock all the doors with the remote but have to lock the drivers side by hand and it makes a loud buzzing sound when locking & unlocking. Our tires had\ve already had to be replaced with only 50,000 mile on the vehicle the in Dec 2002 the vehicle starting making a loud whining sound when reachiung speeds over 45+ the sound would increasde upon lee\tting up on the gas petal. It increasing became worse where it would constantly whinbeall the time at all speeds and also when completely stopped. We have had to keep taking it back to be worked on 3 times so far, they have replaced the whole transmission including the torque converter, transfer case , fuel injection system and the noise still persist. I have done so much research on the internet and see that Chrysler refuses to do a "damn" thing about any of these problems or thses lemon vehicles. What will it take to get their help and for them to see these vehicles have too many problems.
