Equipment Problems of Jeep Laredo

I recently purchased a 2000 Jeep grand cherokee larado with an r title. I was just told there was a recall for the fuel tank exploding upon impact. Jeep recalled the Jeeps on the road & had a trailer hitch put on by local garages. While driving on city roads or the highway the Jeep losses engine power, power steering, brakes seem to not work increasing the risk of a crash. This has happen to my with my children in the car at least 7 times. I just purchased the Jeep Feb. 2016. The last time this occurred was yesterday Aug. 22 2016.

My fuel tank shield rusted out and the fuel tank fell out while I was driving. I heard a dragging sound and pulled in a parking lot and when I looked under Jeep, I seen that my fuel tank fell out partially on one side, while the other side was held up with the rest of the rust shield plate. Looks like nothing is holding it in place other then the shield plate. Read up on some forums and seems to be a common problem with 1999 Jeep grand cherokee Laredo.

I have a 99 Jeep grand cherokee Laredo and we noticed that the fuel tank skid plate was all rusty. And pieces were falling off. My boyfriend looked at it and come to find out the skid plate is the only thing holding my gas tank in. The one side where the bolts are were all rusted and not even connected so my gas tank was about to fall out of my car and only being held in by the other bolt on the other side. I think this is a true hazard and needs to be recalled ASAP! ever Jeep I see has the same issue with rusty skid plates over the gas tank. My Jeep. Runs grew and body is fine the gas tank skid plate needs to be fix ASAP recall now! I'm scared to drive my car with my kids in it.

Nothing has happened yet!. This car is not safe to drive and they have known about it and will not get the part to fix it. How hard could it be to make the part, apparently no one is making it or it would have been done. I received this recall letter months ago of course they didn't date it so I'm not sure how long it has been. How can a company this big get away with not fixing the problem?.

It first started out as this. . The a/c quit working ,windows don't roll, cluster quit working, computer quit working , no power going down the road, and now the vehicle was parked at the house and it caught on fire my husband did a complete tune up, fixed the a/c, the windows, changed all fluids, put a new a computer, basically fixed everything, then today it caught on fire .

When I am filling the gas tank, it continuallly cuts off and spits back gas. Also the blinkers only work intermittingly. These two problems are on the internet. It seems to be a common problem with this car model.

Jeep shuts down while driving at any speed. Will shut down/stall and may start back up or might be 10 minutes or two hours or the next day before it will start again. Stalling has gotten progressively more frequently. I have almost been rear ended twice when it stalls. Been to several mechanics and no one has been able to correct problem.

I drive a 1997 Jeep Laredo it back fires and stalls going down the highway with no warning. It has stalled at a stop lights. And help up traffic have replaced sensors and now going to try changing fuel pump. Air bag light comes on and off how safe is that came close to being rear ended by a semi with my grand kids in vehicle because of it cutting out and loosing power at 55mph these Jeeps are death traps and should be recalled before someone is killed and then its to late what is it going to take and how many complaints do you need to fix the problem.

Tl- the contact owns a 2003 Jeep Laredo. The contact stated that he received notification of a manufacturer¿s recall for the air bags and mentioned that the parts were not available. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated intermittently. The contact was concerned that the air bag could deploy any moment and without warning. I have a 2000 Jeep grand cherokee purchased in 2002 I believe. I have been reading a lot of forum about owners with same car having the same issue. Apparently the power lock go bad after a few years, also the left tail light seem to have some burn out issues preventing the lights from working properly. Another issue is the front tweeter speaks are often blown. In my case both my rear door power lock actuators went bad at the same time. I have 3 kids and have to get out my car and open the rear during by placing my hand through the front passenger side. The other rear door will not close using the power locking feature on the key. Next my car can't pass inspection because the taillight is out. It works fine at times but when I step on the breaks it causes all the lights to go out. The problem occurs on and off. I have replaced the bulbs many times. After reviewing some forum and going to a mechanic I was told my left tail light has a short in it. I will need a new one. Next my front speakers have blown. The cost for each part not including labor door lock actuators -- $98 taillight -- $171 tweeter -- $68. 86 a piece at first I thought I was the only one with this problem.
