1 Front Suspension Lower Ball Joint problem of the 2003 Jeep Laredo

Failure Date: 12/18/2006

I have been unable to schedule the required service on the ball joint recall for my Jeep. Since 12/18/06 van dyn hoven tells me that thet do not have any parts available (they have used them all) and that they will call me when more come in. I tried again on 02/19/07 and the service person said that I was on the list but they still did not have any parts. Also your form does not list the Jeep liberty so I had to enter Laredo to finish form and submit - that doesn't make sense since the recall was for liberty's. Why can't I get my Jeep fixed???.

2 Front Suspension Lower Ball Joint problem of the 2003 Jeep Laredo

Failure Date: 11/14/2006

I just called to set up an appt for recall f23 - lover ball joint safety recall. I was told this recall is on a national hold because no one currently is making or has these parts avail. All they can do is take your name and telephone # and call you when they start getting parts in. The dealership could not give any info as to when parts will be avail. I find this a little disconcerting considering it is a safety issue regarding the steering. Also with redoing the ball joints shouldn't the car also be re-aligned? I would like to know if Chrysler has any dates in mind as to when they will start to rectify this situation.

3 Front Suspension Lower Ball Joint problem of the 2002 Jeep Laredo

Failure Date: 10/25/2005

Lower ball joint failure on 2002 Jeep liberty sport. Original lower ball joint recall was Nov 03. At that time my vehicles ball joints were inspected and the aluminum heat shield was installed. My ball joint was not replaced because they were already replaced under warranty at 23911 miles on 29 Jul 03. I now have 42665 miles today 25 oct 05, and the left front ball joint has failed. It has excessive bump (up and down motion in the socket) and vibration in steering wheel and on floorboard. Vehicle is not safe to drive, and is parked waiting for new parts, based on other failures I have seen or heard about. Jeep has used an under rated part for this application. I have never seen a ball joint only last 20,000 miles and be considered "normal for the vehicle" as d/c would claim. Summary: 2002 Jeep liberty build date:08/01 lower ball joint failures 23911 miles on 29 Jul 03 and 42665 miles on 25 oct 05. On order are heavy duty serviceable replacement ball joints from moog part # k3199, will replace all 4 ball joints with stronger serviceable moog joints. I will be keeping all 4 old joints, including the failed left front lower ball joint.
