I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty. Change oil every 3000 miles. Valve seat shattered. Zero compression in #2 cylinder. I checked on line and there is a lot of other people with the same problem. What are you going to do about it? I loved my Jeep so much we were going to buy another one. Now I'm having second thoughts about buying your vehicles.

37 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2011

Cause: seat got loose got jammed in the valve and busted the piston, effect: engine chokes out. Wont idle. Misfires. Pulled no codes. I have found this and broken valve springs are an extremely common flaw in Jeeps 2002-5. In 2006 Chrysler changed the intake parts for it and never notified the public as to the reason. The replacement parts are listed as being able to be bought rebuilt or new, however you cannot find any rebuilt ones. Reason being you would have the same problem because its defective. This should have been recalled. No deaths=no recall - taxpayer and consumer melody b kasmarik.

42 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2010

I was driving on the interstate at 55 mph in the right lane. I accelerated to pass the vehicle in front of me who was driving approximately 40 mph. When I accelerated, there was an extremely loud band that came from my car. I moved into the right lane and pulled over, off the road and stopped the car. The loud bang frightened and startled me for a moment and I could have lost control of the vehicle and crashed. Up until then, I had no problems. When I drove the car home, I drove slowly and carefully. The car kept stopping, as if someone turned the engine off. I took it to the Jeep dealer and was told I needed to replace the solenoid pack and fluid, had a broken clutch, and internal damage (transmission). After that incident, other issues started such as no hydraulic under front hood (have to hold hood up with one hand while using other). The first time it happened, the hood fell down on my head. The back hydraulics to keep the hatchback open sometimes work or not and my windshield wiper motor is broken. Mind you this all started with low milage between 72,880 - 74,000. Now I am concerned about the latest recall for fuel tank explosion if hit in rear and the other recall about the air bags.

Failure Date: 02/08/2008

Jeep Liberty 2002 has vibration in the steering wheel that makes controlling the Jeep very difficult at speeds over 60 miles an hour. Then I was on the freeway and I had a total loss off power all most causing accidents the dealership said that the engine needs to be torn apart and inspected and a recall of ball joints done the work took them over a year and the problem still continues their is no warranty and I was charged for the recall repair work I asked for the inspection report showing the work on the engine heads and recall work done when I picked up my Jeep they gave me an invoice that showed battery and sparkplug for $2085. 00 failing to present me with reports I asked for they said all work is warranted for 1yr 12,000 miles I drove the Jeep Liberty back to service dept after having another facility look at the engine to confirm if work had been done it had not been touched reported the mechanic and I am now scared to drive or own this vehicle .

48 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2006

For many years now, a couple of times a year I will be driving along at different speeds, sometimes uphill, sometimes downhill, and the engine will turn off. I would pull over and stop. Turn the car off and then it would restart. It would always restart. Recently, it happened when driving and I just turned the ignition off and back on again while I was still in motion and the car started right up. It didn't like doing this because the wheel will lock. I read of the chevy problem and thought this might be similar.

The blower motor resistor has been replaced but now the blower motor is broken. What a lemon from day one. Latches on hatch not working correctly, mold smell from a/c.
