2002 Jeep Liberty. . . Feels like and sounds like the whole front end is falling apart. . And then I went to the post office and as I turned in the parking lot the Jeep made the worst noise. . People started looking. . It was really bad when I hit a bump or turned the steering wheel. . My mechanic checked it out and said the ball joints had to be changed. . And I think something is wrong with the steering . . . . I know there has been a recall on ball joints and something to do with the steering. Also my brother n law found a part laying loose in down in the motor. . I am a senior citizen and I still work. . And I need my Jeep checked. . I am scared to drive it. . . Pls let me know what to do. . . Thanks. .

Heat is not working it throws out cool/cold air. I have noticed that there have been many Liberty owners with the same complaint. It is a pain since I have two young children and the car is so cold you can see everyone's breath. I've had the radiator flushed and had a few things checked and still no heat. Over the summer I had the a/c fixed because it started throwing out hot air. This seems to be a common problem with this car and I'm surprised it has not been recalled. The car is driven on a daily basis in new jersey. Car is mostly driven on city streets and ocasional highway. My Jeep was taken to the dealer for recalls, but looking for recalls to see if there was anything for the heat I noticed there was a recall for the control atms/bushings. I was never told about this recall and nothing was done at the dealer. Last month driving one of my bushings broke while I was driving and I lost a wheel.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2017

My 2002 Jeep Liberty, rarely driven past 3 years, has had to have the ignition switch replaced 3 times as of this week. I can not understand why your department enforced to replace so many Jeep ignition switch's to not think they did not have inferior products on the Liberty's as well. The keys slide right out of the ignition rather the vehicle is in drive motion or parked, on or off, doesn't matter and there are complaints all over the web as to same issue. I understand the issue needs to be reported to you to make official, however, Chrysler's lack of cooperativeness alone, I would think enough to be due cause to umbrella Jeeps of all models and get them all enforced around the same time frame.

Well where do I start. Since I have purchased this vehicle in may of 2016 I have replace multiple parts ,but they weren't part of any recalls. But now my concern reviewing recalls for this vehicle and trying to address these numerous defects . I'm almost fed up. My main cover is the j17 recall for the upper control arm ball joint of which a Chrysler representative advideo my my vehicle was part of ,which I clueless on how as the recall doesn't specify other than 2002 to 2003 Liberty vwhiles . Now I show that they were replaced in the past and now they since are worn in the same description they were recalled in . And Chrysler denies responsibility (?) . . Also other concerns with the catylic converter causing a sulfur smell when the vehicle is going up hill aso well as towing . One more thing is numerous online forum about the engine ticking being normal and unfixable other then to replace the engine . Now all this plus the multiple parts I have already replaced a vehicle less then 15 years on the market needed a in other words fully restoration is unacceptable. Especially when I have stock 1948 Jeep that need less repairs than this .

I received a recall notice, n46/NHTSA 13v-252. This involved the fuel tank which could result in a fire after a rear end collision. The fix was supposed to be a trailer hitch would be installed to provide protection for the rear mounted fuel tank. Also, I was supposed to receive a $100 visa card for my time and trouble in getting this done. After I took the car to the dealer, john hirsch in cambridge mn, they declined to install the trailer hitch, citing some rust under the car prevented them from doing so. The Jeep is a 14 year old minnesota car and most will have some rust on the underbody. If they didn't intend to help alot of the older car owners, I feel my time was wasted and I still have a dangerous problem with the vehicle. Is this Chrysler's way of saving dollars on the recalls?.

9 Equipment problem

Carbone Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, ram refused to service my vehicles recall not once, and not twice, but three times. I dropped my car off at 8am on 02/13/16 for the recall repair and they brought it back to me at 5:30pm without any work done to the vehicle.

While trying to have the n46 recall dealt with in a timely fashion I have been getting the run around for months from sansone Jeep dealer in avenel, NJ I tried three times to make an appointment. The first time I was sent an email that they would contact me shortly, and never did. The second time they again sent me an email that they would contact me shortly, and did not contact me again attached is an email with their response showing this was back in March. Note in the email I asked if there was a problem with getting this done and still no response. Finally after going there in person and getting an appointment for Nov 16th. I took off from work and lost a days pay in order to deal with this problem. After my car being there all day I went to pick it up just for them to tell me they looked at and will order the part. Why wasn't this part ordered a month ago when I made the appointment. I keep receiving notices about how important it is to have this fixed. But now I 'm not sure it is important enough to lose another day of work. Mr. Ralph sabin.

Received recall notice r06 in Aug 2015. Still no parts released from Chrysler for airbag defect on this car. This is unacceptable.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2015

The relay flasher is bad. Part # 56010158ad. I have no right blinker/flasher. I have an order for a replacement for over 4 months now. Jeep is not making the part and has no idea when it will be replaced. No excuses - nothing. Just sorry. This is unacceptable. I am driving in high traffic without signals. There is not even a date when the part may be available. Its unacceptable really. Should something happen to me, who is responsible? I need my vehicle and its the only car I have. Jeep should be responsible for making parts to maintain their vehicles in timely fashion.

Since this time another window has fell down. We just purchased this car for her and am regretting it now. I have read so many complaints about these windows and there has been no recall. I am so surprised!!! we dont have money to throw away!!.

Failure Date: 05/19/2014

Good afternoon, I received a rear structure reinforcement letter from Chrysler and the national traffic safety administration stating that certain 2002-2007 model year Jeep Liberty vehicles contain defect related to motor vehicle safety. Problem: the fuel tank on vehicle has a small chance of experiencing a fuel leak during certain types of rear end collisions. Fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source can result in an underbody fire. What dealer will Chrysler intends to inspect your vehicle and install an oem trailer hitch where appropriate, free of charge (parts and labor) to better manage crash forces in low-speed impacts¦ I called the dealer and it turns out they do not have the parts to fix the problem, and Chrysler is responsible for sending them the parts. They said I would receive another letter once they had received the parts but I never received a letter/call back. I received the recall letter a few months ago and yet have not received a call and just about forgot about until my husband asked about it. I am almost 8 months pregnant and quite worried driving the car but I need it. I hope you can help me get this resolved as soon as possible because in 2 weeks i¿m getting my future child¿s carseat installed and would like this other safety problem to be solved. Thank you in advance for your help and attention.

You send me a important safety recall notice. . . Twice now concerning the fuel tank on your vehicle has a small chance of experiencing a fuel leak during certain types of rear end collisions. I have called lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge of tri-cities to get the new trailer hitch put on. They tell me that they have no part number and can not help me. So what is the deal here? I even have heard this on tv. . . Yet you provide me no part to fix my Jeep. Please let me know where I can take it to get this fixed. You say that if we fix it ourselves by installing an omb trailer hitch send receipt to a certain address. I am a disabled woman who can not get this fixed on my own. Chrysler is suppose to fix it. So when is this gonna happen sincerely darlene foster.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2014

I took my 2002 Jeep Liberty into david Dodge in glenn mills, PA to have the m35 airbag recall performed. The airbag light was on. After the recall procedure was performed, the dealership informed me that the light had not gone out and that the front, left impact sensor needed to be replaced ($312). I am reporting this issue so there is a record in case other Jeep owners experience the same thing or, if a later investigation reveals a this was a faulty sensor or, as a result of the original m35 airbag recall issue.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/30/2014

Received recall regarding safety issue on Jeep Liberty. Have contacted 3 different dealers in tri-city area and have been told that the parts are unavailable. If this is indeed a safety issue, they need to get the parts and make them available. "the fuel tanks in these vehicles are at risk of failure and leakage in certain rear impacts. On vehicles in the recall that are not equipped with a tow hitch, Chrysler will install a Chrysler designed tow hitch free of charge, provided the condition of the vehicle can support proper installation. ".

25 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2013

In December 2013, I received a recall notice on the above-noted vehicle. Soon after, I phoned the dealer, moore Chrysler Jeep, peoria, arizona, to schedule installation of the oem trailer hitch, but I was told they did not have the part. In March 2014, moore Chrysler Jeep sent me a reminder notice that my Jeep needed some maintenance, and that as of December 12, 2013, the vehicle had an incomplete recall. I phoned the service department and made an appointment for the scheduled maintenance, as well as for the hitch to be installed. However, I was told, once again, that the dealer didn't have the part. It has been almost six months since I received the recall notice, but, so far, the problem has not been remedied. I am frustrated and furious! this is an important safety issue, and I want to know why I'm getting the runaround. I don'¿t know where to place the blame, ¿Chrysler or the dealer, ¿but either way, nobody is taking responsibility for this most recent recall with important safety concerns. Why is it taking so long to manufacture and supply the part? does anyone care? please do not suggest that I purchase and install a hitch from some other location and wait for reimbursement. I want to hear from either Chrysler or national highway traffic safety administration or both very soon.

The horn membrane has failed and it will require the entire steering wheel airbag to be replaced or I am stuck with no horn. The horn should not be tied to the airbag. They want 1,500 dollars to replace the airbag with the horn. To date I am without a horn. Still no working horn which is an alerting device to other motorists.

28 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2012

The headlights turn off for up to 2 seconds while I am driving. The pattern seems to occur at all different speeds and may or may not be associated with using the turning signals or the act of turning. I tried replacing the headlight relay, and that did not fix the problem. It seems to be getting worse, and I worry that it will get so bad I will not be able to drive at night. I currently suspect a problem with the multifunction switch or simply a loose wire somewhere. On one occasion, my interior lights turned on while I was driving on the expressway at night and not touching the multifunction stalk at all-not sure if that is related, and again, it only happened once. This is a safety hazard and a hassle. I'm constantly worried that I will be pulled over for flashing my headlights or that I'll be driving blind when an animal runs out in front of me.
