1 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2019

I see there are two recalls in my vehicle - one for the air bags and second for the fuel tank having possible leakage. I live on an island and the closest dealer/repair shop that could do work is in another town that would take a week long trip to get there by boat, etc. Any suggestions.

2 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2016

I have 2 recalls on my Jeep right now. N46 and r06- I was told today because I lived in winter conditions that the n46 - cannot be installed because there is corrosion in the frame of the car making it impossible for the hitch to be installed. So if I am in a collision and rear ended my fuel tank could explode. The r06 could not be preformed which is the occupant restraint control module because there have been no parts available since February of 2015. So I could be driving and my airbags could deploy which will result in an accident. I called the fca recall assistance center and they were unable to give me a solution to either issue. I took time off of work to have these issues resolved and it was a waste of my day and time not to mention the fact that my vehicle is unsafe to drive.

3 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2015

Front passenger side wheel is making a very loud noise everytime I turn the wheel, brought it to 3 different mechanic could not figure it out, my engine light was on because of the fuel tank as well as air bag sign. . Called the Chrysler dealer they gave me a 2 months waiting period. . .

4 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2015

We just had the trailer hitch recall installed on this Jeep Liberty. How could Chrysler's trailer hitch installation be approved as a protection for the gas tank. Only the receiver sticks down in the middle of the tank. The trailer hitch does not have a reinforcement bar bolting to the frame well in front of the tank to avoid an incident that could cause tank rupture. This fix is totally inadequate to avoid tank rupture.

5 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 02/06/2015

I received two recall notices from Jeep in the fall of 2014 for the defective design for the gas tank location on my Jeep Liberty. I spoke to the local dealer last fall after getting the second notice. I knew it was a waste of time to contact them after only the first mailed notification, since I knew there wouldn't be parts available. I spoke to the dealer on a visit in the fall after the second mailed notification and the local dealer told me the parts would not be available for quite some time. I left them my name and asked them to contact me if the parts were availabel. In January of 2015, I contacted the local dealer again and they chuckled and told me the parts were not available but they could put me on the growing list they kept at the dealership. So I had not even made it onto the local dealer waiting list yet! to make matters worse, I got a call a week later from a Chrysler warranty customer center. I called back after the second call and told them that the dealer had laughed at me just two weeks before when I had asked if the parts were available. In addition to the defective gas tank location, my Jeep also has the air bags that can inadvertently inflate (supposedly with a few seconds of warning if you happen to be looking at the dashboard and notice a warning light). I got that recall fixed (a very low cost jumper) last fall. I understand that now my Jeep may also have a defective trw airbag inflator. I suspect this was the issue all along but Chrysler took the cheapest possible route (a jumper). Lastly, I have submitted a formal complaint on the NHTSA web site concerning my headlights going off by themselves while driving at night. They have done this multiple times and normally come back on within 5 seconds. There are many other complaints for this issue on the NHTSA site and yet there has been no recall for this without warning issue.

6 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2014

Complaint against Chrysler group. Recall n46/NHTSA 13v-252: "the fuel tank on your vehicle has a chance of experiencing a fuel leak during certain types of rear end collisions. Fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source can result in a fire. " I have called Chrysler group 1 x in August 2014 (beginning of recall), November, January and 02/16/15. They have failed to get my parts to the local dealer in a timely manner, therefore putting me at risk of a rear end collision ignition of flames. I need these parts sent to my local dealer immediately. My local dealer is only getting parts at the rate of 5 pieces per week, to fix the more than hundreds of thousands of customers. That is chryslers fault. Not the dealers. I waited to speak w/Chrysler, on the phone for 1 hour & 25 minutes on 02/16/15, trying to get this resolved. It was the customer service dept, for this particular recall. I never got to speak w/a live person. This is unacceptable. I need my parts sent to my local dealer immediately.

7 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/19/2014

Good afternoon, I received a rear structure reinforcement letter from Chrysler and the national traffic safety administration stating that certain 2002-2007 model year Jeep Liberty vehicles contain defect related to motor vehicle safety. Problem: the fuel tank on vehicle has a small chance of experiencing a fuel leak during certain types of rear end collisions. Fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source can result in an underbody fire. What dealer will Chrysler intends to inspect your vehicle and install an oem trailer hitch where appropriate, free of charge (parts and labor) to better manage crash forces in low-speed impacts¦ I called the dealer and it turns out they do not have the parts to fix the problem, and Chrysler is responsible for sending them the parts. They said I would receive another letter once they had received the parts but I never received a letter/call back. I received the recall letter a few months ago and yet have not received a call and just about forgot about until my husband asked about it. I am almost 8 months pregnant and quite worried driving the car but I need it. I hope you can help me get this resolved as soon as possible because in 2 weeks i¿m getting my future child¿s carseat installed and would like this other safety problem to be solved. Thank you in advance for your help and attention.

10 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2014

Re. : safety recall n46 / NHTSA / 13v-xxx on 4/15/2014, my daughter car brought her car to the Jeep dealership for the second time to have a trailer hitch installed to remedy the fuel tank puncture hazard in case of rear end collisions. Both times the dealership informed my daughter that the parts are not available. After more than 8 months, I believe that Chrysler corp. Had sufficient time to get these parts and fix the vehicle. Apparently, Chrysler corp is not intending or able to fix the safety problem with my daughter's car. I am requesting that Chrysler suggests an alternate solution to remedy the situation immediately.

11 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2014

The contact owns a 2002 Jeep Liberty. The contact received NHTSA recall campaign id number: 13v252000 (fuel system, gasoline , structure); however, since the fuel tank on his vehicle had point corners for air it hangs 5 inches beneath the receiver factory hitch; therefore, the tow hitch remedy would not suffice. The contact stated that due to the design of the fuel tank he was concerned that the failure could occur with or without the tow hitch recall remedy. There are no failures at this time.

12 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 04/07/2014

There was a safety recall announced by the manufacuturer in q4 2013 m46 / NHTSA 13v-252. I contacted the Jeep dealer gator automotive group on April 7, 2014 to check on the status of the recall and to make an appointment for the repair. I did not do so previously as the announcement stated that they would contact us. No appointment or parts were available at that time and the dealer representative hung up the phone on me. Next I called the manufacturer and got the same response that they had no parts and I had to wait for them to contact me. It is now July 29, 2014 and I have never heard back from neither the dealer nor the manufacturer. This is unacceptable to me as this is a safety recall. Can somebody please provide me with an update on this recall or contact the manufacturer about this. The issue is an exploding gas tank. Thank you.

13 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2014

In mid January was sent a recall notice. Tried to setup an appointment with my dealership for repair. They said the parts were not available yet and I would receive another card stating when it will be available. It is now mid April and no card. I have called twice and theres no status of when I can get this fuel tank recall repaired. There is a danger of underbody fire in rear collisions. I would like this repaired immediately.

14 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2013

Jeep cry is ignoring fuel tank problem recalled.

15 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

Recently I had major repairs to my 2002 Jeep Liberty. The check engine light was on and it was diagnosed with code po442. Through the process of elimination it was found that the top side of the fuel tank had deteriorated to the point where holes had formed, causing an unsafe condition due to fuel and fuel fume release. The tank was replaced with a refurbished one since Jeep no longer manufacturers the fuel tank. The repairs were made at a certified Jeep dealership. The vehicle was in the shop from August 1 thru August 7. I contacted Jeep to inform them of the unsafe condition with the vehicle and was given a case number. I requested assistance with the cost of the repairs. I sent Jeep all requested information with the understanding a customer care agent would contact me with their finding. 3 weeks passed and I did not receive a call, I contacted Jeep requesting resolve. A supervisor returned my call and informed me that the age of the vehicle was the reason no assistance would be offered. My complaint with Jeep is they dismissed the request because of the age of the vehicle. I purchased the vehicle in 2008 with 29000 miles. Currently the vehicle has 69000 miles. I find it unacceptable that Jeep places a time limitation on the safety of their vehicles that are maintained to the standard set forth in the owners manual. Jeep does not back their vehicles. I will never buy another Jeep!.

16 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 06/19/2013

This complaint is regarding existing recall "NHTSA campaign number: 13v252000. " it has been almost a year and Jeep has yet to replace my recalled parts. I feel as if Jeep is dragging its feet in this manner, first not wanting to issue the recall and now not doing the fix. My local dealer has no idea when parts are coming, and I believe a fuel tank issue is something that should not be delayed. I wish to lodge a formal complaint about Jeep's slow response to this recall. Thank you.

17 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2013

The contact owns a 2002 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that NHTSA campaign number 12v527000 (air bags) had exceeded a reasonable time for repair. The contact experienced the failure when the air bag warning light remained illuminated. The contact was also concerned that the fuel tank failure could occur at any moment. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The approximated failure mileage was 180,000 and the current mileage was 181,000.

18 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2012

I moved to a small town. I have received three recall notices. The nearest dealership that can service my Jeep continues to tell me " those parts are not available ". After that, no one would bother to even return my emails. I realize they make no money performing a recall, but why am I to be punished? I found a dealership in medford oregon, about 120 miles away, left my information and I am waiting for a response from them. The recall of my ball joints was fixed immediately. I lived in a large area. So now with three new recalls and no one to fix the issue's, what can I do? do you have any influence over these dealerships to make them fix the problems? the way it stands now my steering will go out just as my airbag deploys, causing someone to rear end me, and with the new faulty gas tank recall, a collision will ensue thus blowing up my Jeep, me, the faulty air bag, and the recalled steering mechanism! I don't look good in " blown up". Anything you can do would be helpful. Thank you!.

19 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2003

There are currently 3 recalls on my Liberty. I have made multiple attempts to get service for these recalls from bcp Jeep dealer in smyrna, delaware to no avail. I am told over and over that the parts are on back order and we'll contact you when they are available. I have a recall on my air bags-they may deploy driving down the road. My air bag light has been blinking for years, which is a symptom of this recall. I also have a part on my suspension that may break due to rust. That recall is 11 years old and still not fixed. Now I have a recall on the fuel tank, which may burst into a ball of flames in a fender bender. I am currently driving a death trap and cannot just go trade this vehicle in. I want Jeep to take responsibility for these recalls and fix them. I am sick and tired of them giving me the run around. I cannot give you exact dates of when I contacted bcp. I have called them many times over the years. I also tried to contact the Jeep dealer in dover, delaware and spoke to a very rude individual who was no help to me.

20 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 12/30/2002

Consumer stated that while driving and without warning the fuel tank crack causing fluid to leak out. Dealer notified. Ts.

21 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 12/30/2002

I've been told by Chrysler and the NHTSA for over a year now that my fuel tank may leak, catch fire and possibly explode as a result of la low speed rear end collision. Recall notice 13v252000, n46/NHTSA 13v-252 was issued, yet Chrysler continues to stall in actually fixing the problem. In the meantime my family continues to be at risk everyday. Please enforce the recall by setting a meaningful deadline for them to fix the problem, not talk more or send me another useless notice, but actually fix the unsafe vehicle they sold me. Thank you.
