Well my 2002 Jeep Liberty has been messed up lately,it will just not crank so I thought it was the battery but it turned out to be the ignition switch also it did this off an on for about 6months ,the heat went out when I bought it and it will act as if it is overheating but it won't do anything for while then all of my windows have problems with the motor s in them the suspension, control arms I've had to change ,and the cruise control button will stick and keep going while you are driving it almost caused me to wreck on the interstate you have to turn the vehicle completely off once you get it to stop if you can get it to stop. Out of all the vehicles I've had this is the first to take off by itself.

4 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2017

Heat is not working it throws out cool/cold air. I have noticed that there have been many Liberty owners with the same complaint. It is a pain since I have two young children and the car is so cold you can see everyone's breath. I've had the radiator flushed and had a few things checked and still no heat. Over the summer I had the a/c fixed because it started throwing out hot air. This seems to be a common problem with this car and I'm surprised it has not been recalled. The car is driven on a daily basis in new jersey. Car is mostly driven on city streets and ocasional highway. My Jeep was taken to the dealer for recalls, but looking for recalls to see if there was anything for the heat I noticed there was a recall for the control atms/bushings. I was never told about this recall and nothing was done at the dealer. Last month driving one of my bushings broke while I was driving and I lost a wheel.

8 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2015

I was driving down the highway and I don't really remember the moment before the accident but I lost control of my car and hit the median barricade head on and from there my car kept going across the highway off to the grass area. I was the only one injured and taken to the hospital. My car is ruined and I faced a broken nose, back, knee, knock, head, and shoulder brushing and pain, and now I keep having a short term memory on some occasions. I also get nauseated when k get in a vehicle and get terrified when I'm with someone driving down the street. I have no vehicle at the time, it's been almost two and a half months and I haven't had any help with anything. I am a full time college student working a part time job, my sister or boyfriend have to take me to work and school, it's getting pretty tiring for them to take me everywhere. I work about 15 minutes away from my home and it's difficult for them to take me when they have school and work on those days. The air bags in my Jeep did not deploy, it went in for the recall and you can literally see the sensors, the clearly should have deployed. My Jeep had no engine or air bag codes of any kind. . So why didn't they go off?! I'm terrier that im going to loose my job and not afford to pay rent or bills.

9 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/19/2014

Driving down street with no stop signs out of corner of eyes I saw a silver car speeding through a stop sign luckily I saw it early and slammed on my brakes, we hit very hard I hit steering wheel my passenger was injured too, my question is im reading that 2002 Jeeps airbags go off easily why didn't mine go off, I bought the car when it was 1 year old but never checked if it had any accidents, its suppose to have airbags in the front and passenger seat, could the dealer have sold me a defective Jeep. The other driver was speeding causing to hit very hard, why didn't the airbag deploy which would have saved me from hitting the steering wheel (I cant remember what else I hit all I know is I was taken in ambulance to emergency room my passenger drove to emergency room cause she didn't want to be put on as board she has a plate in her hip we are both 64 years old. If my car was defective when I bought it in 2003 I need to do something about it. Im reading that those 2002 airbags go off very easily why didn't mine. [xxx] . [xxx] bought car in 2003 from royal gate Dodge ellisville mo. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Passenger side headlamp won't come on at all now and interior lights continue to flicker. While pulling into my driveway, passenger side front tire completely separated from the vehicle, leaving me speechless. We have been the only owners of this vehicle and weren't notified of any recalls. Hoping we can get this repaired soon. . . . . .

16 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 12/16/2003

2002 Jeep Liberty is inherently unstable. At almost any speed, the rear end of this vehicle tends to "spin out" resulting in lost of control. Recently, this occurred as my wife was driving this vehicle. As a result, she lost control of the vehicle, struck a guide rail, and rolled the vehicle twice.

17 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2003

There are currently 3 recalls on my Liberty. I have made multiple attempts to get service for these recalls from bcp Jeep dealer in smyrna, delaware to no avail. I am told over and over that the parts are on back order and we'll contact you when they are available. I have a recall on my air bags-they may deploy driving down the road. My air bag light has been blinking for years, which is a symptom of this recall. I also have a part on my suspension that may break due to rust. That recall is 11 years old and still not fixed. Now I have a recall on the fuel tank, which may burst into a ball of flames in a fender bender. I am currently driving a death trap and cannot just go trade this vehicle in. I want Jeep to take responsibility for these recalls and fix them. I am sick and tired of them giving me the run around. I cannot give you exact dates of when I contacted bcp. I have called them many times over the years. I also tried to contact the Jeep dealer in dover, delaware and spoke to a very rude individual who was no help to me.

18 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2003

While traveling on the highway and turning vehicle steering wheel has a squeaking noise coming from underneath.

19 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2003

The vehicle pulls to the right all the time. Returned it to the dealer 4 times, they aligned it but it still pulls to the right. I called customer service and was told to work with my local dealer. He claims there is no problem and it is aligned to specification. He claims the truck just follows the crown in the road. I tested the truck in a flat parking lot by driving between aligned parking spaces in both directions. It still pulled to the right. I don't doubt that it is aligned, I believe there is (are) other problems. I can't get a satisfactory response from the dealer or company.

20 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2003

I lost control of the vehicle two days after purchase in the rain while trying to make a right hand turn. The vehicle went straight through the intersection, up and over the curb and into someones front yard. Reported to the dealership. Two months later I had my second experience that also happened in the rain. I was trying to come to a stop at a stop sign and could not stop the car. At this time I took the car back to the dealership and they said there was nothing found. The service director at the time referred to it as operator error and thought that I would get used to the vehicle. Then seven months later on January 1, 2003, I lost control of the vehicle on the beltway trying to avoid something in the road. It was raining. I was going the speed limit (55 mph) and my car started to spin and ended up going southbound in the northbound lanes and finally crashed into a concrete dividing wall. The air bags did not deploy. I feel very fortunate to be alive and that no one else was hurt. The car was taken to the dealership and it is currently under investigation for possible defects. I feel that I am unable to drive this unsafe vehicle. I have also noticed that the vehicle has a tendency to pull to the right.

21 Suspension problem

Vibration felt while driving when you let off the gas or accelerate. When you go about 50 it gets worse. The vibration is there most of the time now.
