My rear windows have fallen 4 times (2 times each) since I've owned the vehicle. The regulator/motor has failed each time. The regulator/motor came directly from Jeep each time. I've spent approximately $1300 to fix these flaws.
The contact owns a 2003 Jeep Liberty. While driving at various speeds or while parked, the power tracking on both rear windows constantly fails. The contact stated that the rear windows were not used at all. The driver side rear windows have been replaced three times and the passenger side rear window was replaced twice. The VIN, engine size, and number of cylinders were unknown. The current mileage was 68,480 and failure mileage was 36,000.
I have 2003 Jeep Liberty and the passenger side window motor has went out. I searched the internet and found alot of other people has had the same problem. When I remove the motor it was made of cheap plastic I can not believe they did this knowing that it would break so easy.
No unusual events leading to failure. Failure was the left rear door window regulator. Consequences are driving with inclement weather entering the vehicle and distracting the driver. Failure was corrected by replacement of regulator.
Three(3) broken window regulators.
Rear passenger side window fell of track. Came outside to the car and noticed the window was rolled down slightly. Tried to roll up and I can hear the motor but nothing happened. Im guessing its probably a cable that snapped. Did a little research and it seems that im not the only Liberty owner with this problem.
Rear passenger drivers side window has fallen and been replaced twice, it did it again so now it is screwed up. In research this is a major problem with the vehicle.
Champion Chrysler-Jeep inc safety recall f23 customer is very upset that after getting recall fixed that she had to pay out of pocket for the upper ball joints* the dealer stated the rear right seatbelt does not latch and the left right power window does not work. The consumer has provided the invoices for repair. Update.
Rear window driver's side fell down - window regulator replaced (2006). Rear window passenger side fell down- window regulator replaced (2008). Rear window passenger side fell down - window regulator replaced (2009 part under warranty). Rear window driver's side fell down- window regulator not yet replaced (2009). No old parts available except one that has yet to be replaced. Contacted customer assistance in auburn hills, mi and was told that there was nothing they could do for me. I asked if there were any records of defect for this part or if any other owners had similar complaints and was told that they don't keep those sort of records. Since this time I have come in contact with 3 parties that have the same problem with this part (faulty window regulator) I believe there are many more that have a problem with this part and that the manufacturer should be held responsible for repairs and reimbursement for repairs already completed (by dealer or other).
Both rear passenger windows on my 2003 Jeep Liberty have fallen off of the track. When I took my car into the dealership, a man who worked there informed me that this happens "all the time to Liberty's. " he claimed the motor was too small. I was upset when the dealership wanted $350 to fix the problem. I live in an area where it rains often, and the window slipping allows for water to get in. Furthermore, a friend who owns a Liberty has the same problem. I am wondering how common this problem really is, and whether or not there should be a recall.
The window regulator has broken in both of my rear windows multiple times. It broke in the rear driver's side window Jan. 2005, Jun. 2008, Jan. 2010, & oct. 2011. It has also broken in the rear passenger's side window sept. 2005; Dec. 2007; sept. 2009; oct. 2010; & Jan. 2012. That would be a total of 9 times. Obviously the part that is being used is inferior since it continually breaks and at best lasts around 2 years. I have calculated that this part has cost me a grand total of $1,295. Jeep has offered assistance in paying for the repairs but I have always had some financial responsibility. I feel that this is a safety hazard because when the part malfunctions the window slides all the way into the door. This could be a potential safety issue if I had young children riding in the backseat. I feel like Jeep is using a substandard part so they can continue to make money off of me.
2003 Jeep Liberty every window regulator has been repaired at least once. Spent over 1,000 in repairs. Google it. . . Numerous complaints about this model from every year with same problem. Needs to be recalled and fixed! money owed back to owners.
I also have a 2003 Jeep Liberty and I have had to replace my driver side rear passenger window regulator 3 times. It is made out of cheap plastic. The motor still works but the plastic piece just wears to nothing if you use the window. The replacement is a one unit system and it needs to be made stronger.
The contact owns a 2003 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that over a span of seven years, each of the windows failed and dropped down into the door panel abnormally. The failure occurred while the contact was driving and while the vehicle was parked. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times and an independent mechanic to be repaired for a total of five times. The contact was informed that a plastic part within the window mechanism had melted, causing the glass to drop down into the door panel.
