The connection "bolt" { situated under the vehicle} between the transmission shift lever and the rod responsible for actually shifting between park, neutral,, forward and reverse transmission gears completely` rusted away. ( see attached picture) causing a complete disconnect rendering the gear shift lever useless. The component is available for inspection upon request? it was shear luck that I was in slow city driving when I realized that the vehicle was damaged and not drivable. Until a final repair is made the vehicle is "dead in the water" so to speak. If this failure occurred during a trip, in an isolated place, I would have been abandoned and helpless as soon as I stopped. The fact that the "bolt" situated under the chassis was made of metal that rusted is incomprehensible to me, especially in a vehicle that is sold as suitable for "rough riding" over rocky terrain, through streams and generally roughing it. Common sense dictates that this critical part should have been constructed of sturdier stuff , not metal that rusts. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? I can't afford to have it repaired at this time. The vehicle or component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.
The rear window latch does not work. It will not open to latch the window closed with the back door. The window then opens when driving. I have a bungee cord holding my window closed. So anyone can enter my vehicle and it moves when I stop or go. I am ot able to use my back door due to having to redo it everytime. My driverside door also does not lock or unlock all the doors when I press the lock or unlock button. I have to open my door and shut off Jeep and try numerous times for ot to work.
My car had been driving fine when I was on my way to work this morning I felt a pop under the car and then my car lost power and now it won't go into gear. . But it still turns on.
While trying to avoid a rear end collision at 30mph steering and break pedal got hard causing rollover where the airbags did not deploy not did the seatbelt restrain.
Ignition switch not turning when attempting to crank vehicle. I had recently drove my vehicle. Prior to the incident my ignition switch made a louder noise when I attempted to turn over the vehicle. Now it's not working at all.
Recall service incomplete no hitch installed on vehicle $100 promotion was denied.
The NHTSA required Jeep to issue a recall on fractured rear control arms that could cause reduced vehicle control and cause a crash. I have been trying since July 11 to schedule my vehicle for repair with friendship Jeep in bristol, TN. They say they cannot get the parts because Jeep is only allowing them to order 4-5 at a time and then they back order them. When I called the recall assistance center, they are saying mopar has them on national back order. It seems neither Jeep or mopar care much about driver safety. How are consumers supposed to get their recalled vehicles repaired when parts aren't available?.
The windows fell into the door when roling down the drivers rear window. This is the 4th time this has happened and not just this window. I have replaced 3 window regulators and 2 windows. The plastic component holding the window in place has a tiny meatal clip to hold a ball joint to the window and its not strong enough to hold the window in place. For a vehicle designed for off roading I cant see how this is good. The last time this occured was during a rain storm and my 6 yr old got soaked when it fell. Just glad the window didnt shatter this time. I almost lost control when this happened and had to find a place to pull over to help him.
Window regulator failing. Two window regulators have failed so far. For the first time, the rear passenger window fell while the vehicle was stationary and I was closing it when a large snap was heard and it fell into the door. The second time, the rear driver window fell. I did not notice when it fell, but when I went to drive one morning it was halfway down. I thought I just forgot to roll it up, but apparently that one failed as well and got stuck halfway down. In both cases the car was stationary on a driveway, then a parking lot. Luckily nothing was stolen or damaged inside. The first incident was on June 2016, the second time October 20 2016.
It's rusting under my Jeep, the brakes and brake lines are rusting at an alarming rate and the undercarriage is rusting fast. I was driving when my rusty brake line broke. . I I am still paying for this Jeep. And I heard of the gas tank having problems.
Every 2002-2007 Jeep Liberty has defective window regulators. When they break, they are replaced with another defective window regulator again and again. The dealers make $400 a pop to do this and Chrysler thinks it is ok. They finally recalled 2006-2007 what about the rest? I missed the recall by one year and my window regulators just continue to break. It is discrimination. Your car can be parked and you walk out and see the window down. You can be driving when it happens. Your car is never secure. You can be rob or worse killed since anyone can get in when it is down. Also, rain, snow, insects or animals can all enter your car but that is not a defect to Chrysler. It is time for a recall.
Ignition switch problems-car front head lights and dash board lights are continuous blinking on and off and blowing out constantly. This incidence has occurred several times while operating my vehicle being on the highway or side streets, I do not feel safe driving this vehicle.
Seat belts do not retract doors on the bottom are rusting out along with the window drains paint is bubbling on the side wells. This car is garage kept!we have read about it auto guide. Com.
Trying to get letter of compliance on an english Jeep saying it meets us min. Safety standard. I have called several numbers and keep being sent to another number. The car was built in onio but no one seems to know where to get this information. Can you help me?.
As I was pulling into a parking lot I suddenly heard a loud noise and noticed my back wheels acting strange. I thought it was a flat tire so I parked and checked my rear tires. Everything looked fine so I got what I had come for then got back on the road. The noise and difficulty steering were still there though so I pulled over again and looked under the rear tires. The rear control arm on the drivers side has completely rusted through and broken. I couldn't believe a car with less than 70,000 miles on it could have a part completely rust through like that so I checked all the recalls on the Liberty model. Not surprisingly there was a recall due to excessive rust on the very part that had completely rusted out on my vehicle. I was never notified of this safety recall though because I don't live in one of the states where the recall was issued. The states where the recall was issued get snow in the winter and salt is usually used to clear the streets. That is why these states were in the recall. I live in nebraska though, a state that gets nearly as much snow as iowa, missouri, and minnesota (three states that were included in the recall) and yet if you live in my state you are not informed of the recall and you do not get the parts replaced. If I had not been pulling into a parking lot at the moment the rear control arm had rusted through and broken the incident could have been much worse. I could have been on the highway or a busy street and easily lost control of my vehicle. Since my state was not included in the recall my safety (and the safety of other drivers) was put at risk and I will now be out $600.
The radiator on this vehicle has been replaced times in the 8 years I have owned it. It has 7 recalls, the window on the passenger side is broken, the sensors in the engine have been replaced twice. The radiator is plastic and looks like something out of a bubble gum machine. It also has a plastic cooling fan, not metal, which also broke. I have put as much money in this vehicle as I paid for it. The brakes are horrid and go out constantly. I only have a 5 mile commute to work. The vehicle is serviced on a regular basis. It is a huge disappointment. I got this vehicle because we had owned several Jeeps and liked them. This vehicle is always breaking down. The fan doesn't work on the heater except on high. The alternator has been replaced twice. The exhaust has been replaced twice. I would never buy a Jeep product again after this.
Just purchased the vehicle and could not get the key out of the ignition once I got home and parked the car. Played with it for approx. 30 min. And then the key came out. Drove the car a second time and parked the vehicle and could not get the key out. I went into the house and waited approx. 30 min. Was then able to turn the ignition to click and line up and get the key out. The ignition does not allow you to make the final click once in park to get the key out of the ignition. I went online and seen that the internet was blown up with this problem especially in the 2005 Jeep Liberty as well as other Jeeps. I think it is about time they make this a recall!!!!.
To whom it may concern, we have tried to have a recall ( n46/NHTSA 13v-252) scheduled and fixed numerous times with Chrysler dealers in the area, only to get answers that they don't have the parts and that they can't complete the recall. In the meantime we have received several safety recalls regarding this matter. We don't know how we are going to have this fixed as it seems nobody want to do it. The car is in use every day and at times long drives on the interstate. Please advise as soon as possible how to proceed.
Jeep Liberty 2005, less than 70000 miles. Gas overflows upon filling up tank. At first thought, it was fuel pump. However, this happens at all stations every time it is to be filled up. Therefore is my reasoning for my concern. Search on line and found this is problematic; links below confirms this. Https://www. Youtube. . Read more...
Jeep recall notices require hitch installation. Dealer (wolfchase Chrysler Jeep in bartlett, TN) does not have hitches and cannot get them in a timely fashion. Dangerous condition for vehicle which Jeep seems incapable of fixing. Dealer has not given any estimate of when they will be able to install new hitch.
2010 engine shut down with only 105,000 miles. I had replaced the egr valve covered under warranty when check engine light came on. Performed regular oil changes up until the engine failed. New replacement engine was installed in 2010. In septemeber 2014 engine failed again on the highway going 55 mph. Engine was diagnosed by crysler dealer as engine failure due to over heated rocker arm, cam shaft and lifters. Crysler is not offering any assistance this second time around. I am also out $1060 dollars payable to the dealer for thier diagnosis telling me something I already knew. Crysler customer service had told me to take it to the dealer before they would discuss any potential financial assistance. Now that the diagnosis is engine failure they are not willing to provide any aide. Information I have been gathering indicates this was not a good engine in either the 2005 or 2006 Libertys. I need some help pursiing help from crysler. Please advise.
The window regulator (power windows) decided to no longer hold up the window (it rarely gets used). Was partially down so I went to open the rear drivers side door and it would not open. I wanted to prop the window up which I was able to do with a suction cup. I have read many many complaints about this happening on these vehicles. Seems like a problem the manufacturer should have to repair via recall.
2year ago was told my daughters Jeep was not safe if hit from behind due to gas tank. They said they would install a receiver to block impact area . I keep getting the run around on when I can get it fixed.
I received a recall notice approximately a year ago. Checked on it in April 2014 with Chrysler by phone. Have checked on it today on your site. No new notification. Still waiting on parts. Still no notice to take vehicle to dealer for inspection. What is the point in a safety recall if there is no action on the part of the manufacturer?.
I have had numourous problems starting my Jeep. Every time I have this problem I take it to dealer to find out it is the same thing everytime. I'm told it is the ignition actuator switch. There I'd a little pin in it that if you put your key in slightly the wrong way you can break one of those pins. I have had this fixed and then I have no problem starting my Jeep for a while. Well then it all happened again the other day. Again it was the ignition actuator switch. I have read a lot of places and my dealer has told me that this is a very common problem in these Jeeps. I really feel there should be a recall on this product and a better replacement should be available. I'm sick of spending $100 on this part every year or two.
Safety recall notice n46 / NHTSA 13v-252 states that parts are not yet available. This recall was issued months ago yet parts are (still) unavailable. We consider this to be a high priority recall notice since it relates to dangers associated with the fuel tank in a rear end accident. I contacted our dealer today and as of June 10th 2014 parts are still unavailable and there is no time-frame given on when parts will be available to correct this dangerous condition. We believe this recall should be expedited.
While driving the vehicle in a busy highway the steering becomes heavy and some fluid splashed on the front windshield and suddenly lost steering and gearing . I forced the vehicle to the shoulder and stepped out of it to check what went wrong. There was no light indicator or overheating. As soon as I stepped out of the car it starts rolling backward, so it lost braking as well. . I was panicking and picturing how many accidents and toll death would have happened on the scene. One moving car had collided with my vehicle while it was rolling backward and two people got injured. The police have been notified and my Jeep got towed as it is not drivable. I have contact Chrysler and they return my call and promise to send their engineer to investigate and find out what went wrong without warring and it could have caused a total disaster on 95 north .
I just got some information from a friend that my Jeep was on a recall.
Received a safety recall notice - n46/NHTSA 13v-252 - rear structure reinforcement. I took the car to a Chrysler-Jeep dealer (alhambra - 1100 west main street, alhambra, CA 91801) and they said they are unable to remedy the defect because the part is not available to them). Please advise.
This is concerning recall n46/NHTSA 13v-252. We received the notice in Jan. 2014 and were told Chrysler would contact us when parts were available for the recall. I contacted Chrysler in April 2014 and again was told we would be contacted. As of today, 8/8/2014 we still have not received any word on the recall. I am concerned about the safety of the Jeep. Can you help?.
The contact owns a 2005 Jeep Liberty. The contact received a recall notification for NHTSA campaign number: 13v252000 (trailer hitch) in January of 2014. The dealer stated that she would receive a second notification letter. The contact stated that she had been waiting long enough and did not feel that the vehicle was safe to drive. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was 90,028.
Fuel tank has chance of leak. Received safety recall from Chrysler advising Chrysler dealer will install trailer hitch at no cost to owner. Dealer is unable to obtain parts necessary. Phone calls to Chrysler failed to resolve problem.
I am contacting you in reference to recall n46 / 13v- 252 on the Jeep hitch issue. I have jumped thru chryslers' hoops for the last 12 months only to be told know that my reese hitch that I had installed prior to all this starting is not a "oem" part and that Chrysler will not reimburse me for it. I had this hitch installed at a licensed dealer and the hitch meets icc requirements for a class 3 hitch. I am sure that I'm in the same boat that many other owners are in, and I hope you can advise me where do I go from here.
Every time I fill up the Jeep when it clicks off,it spills about a liter of gas all over my Jeep. It happened at different gas stations with different pumps.
Over the past 12 months, I have received three (3) separate notices for vehicle recall, notification code n46. Each time I have called my dealer and each time my dealer has told me they do not have any of the parts to accomplish the repair on the recall. They also tell me they have no idea when they will get the parts in. If my vehicle is subject to a recall, I have been driving an unsafe vehicle for quite some time. The dealer shows no sense of caring if I get the vehicle fixed or not. They open themselves up to a lawsuit if something should happen. I think the NHTSA should fine Chrysler and the dealer as neither care about getting my Jeep fixed. Can you please help me get this thing fixed? my dealer's phone number in athens, GA is 706-549-7555.
