The contact owns a 2005 Jeep Liberty sport. The contact was driving 25 mph when the driver side rear window fell into the door panel. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where the mechanic confirmed the failure. The manufacturer was contacted but the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 138,000 and the current mileage was 140,000.
Rear windows on both the drive and the passenger side drop into the door panel while driving - mechanic said it is due to a faulty regulator but no recall has been issued even though they have seen multiple reports for the same problem. I am frightened since this a huge safety and theft hazard!.
Driver's side power window mechanism broke - the window fell into the bottom of door panel. This happened last year on my left side passenger door window and is a known problem to Jeep. However, instead of recalling this and fixing it, I had to pay $520 for a repair to the dealer. This is dangerous, because it happens at any time without warning, and there is no way to put the window up once it falls down into the door. I was fortunate that I was not far from home or on a trip when this happened, or it could have been extremely dangerous. There are thousand of people owning Jeep liberties with this problem.
2005 Jeep Liberty rear door window slid down into the door on the highway, causing driver to get off the gas and divert his attention to the rear window. This is a "known issue with the Jeep Liberty" as stated by the dealer, but they will not make a permanent fix. Is it going to take a family pet or child to get injured or killed before something is done. This is the 2nd time the rear door window has dropped into the door.
2005 Jeep Liberty with only 43,000 miles-driving on the interstate at speed limit when rear window started sliding down. Attempts to raise window caused a loud grinding noise. Once I reached my destination, I was unable to leave my vehicle since I cannot secure the window or the contents. I've contacted the dealership who have informed me that repairs will be in excess of $200. 00 and that this happens quite often with this particular model. In 40 years of driving, I have never had this happen. I've been a loyal Jeep owner for more than 15 years but this is the last one I will buy!.
I have a 2005 Jeep Liberty renegade. My car has less than 25,000 miles on it, but three of the windows have had to be replaced because they fell down into the window well. The driver window is the only one that has not been replaced. Each window has cost me $400 to replace!!.
The contact owns a 2004 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that both the driver and passenger side rear windows fell into the doorpanel. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer and the dealer replace the regulator assembly for each window. The contact stated the rear window had to be replaced over three times. The contact stated that regulator that the dealers were using to remedy the issue were defective. The failure mileage was 58,000.
I was rolling down the left rear window (electric) when it made a terrible noise. After that, it wouldn't go up or down. The window hasn't been activated 5 times since I bought the Jeep in 2005. It was taken to the dealer and I was told that I need a new window register. Cost $145. 00 and $50. 00 labor. Bottom line, 2005 Jeep Liberty, 38000 miles, 3 years old and windows failing.
Since we bought the Liberty we have had a total of 12 incidents where the windows have fallen down and left the vehicle vulnerable to the elements and on two occasions personal property has been taken from inside the vehicle in shopping center parking lots. Chrysler sold us an extented warranty which will cover the repairs but there is a $100 deductable every time the vehicle goes in. Jeep makes a joke out of it when they see me come in by saying "what, another window ?" and then laughing and saying this is getting to be a routine, this is true and I know all of the people there because I sold Chrysler/ Jeep / Dodge for 5 years so I just laugh with them but it really makes me mad that Jeep won't fix and issue that is so obvious and so many people have problems with. This is a safety issue since my wife drives this car to work and when she goes to the car after work she has to check and see if anyone is inside the vehicle before she gets in and when she is driving the car on the freeway if the window falls down it startles her and she has almost had an accident twice over the front windows falling. I now have two windows being held up by coat hangers stuffed in the window track so the inside doesn't get wet or the car sit outside with windows wide open. Someone needs to nip this in the bud and get the Chrysler corporation to step up and fix these vehicles before they hurt someone.
Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Jeep Liberty. While parked the contact noticed the rear drivers side window had fallen into the door. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic. The technician stated the window regulator would have to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to the dealer approximately five times for repair to the rear driver and passenger side window regulator. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a complaint was filed. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 31,587. Ds.
As a single mother of baby twins, I am both completely freaked out as well as gratefully relieved to have found this site. The complaints read like a checklist of past issues and god willing, preventable future issues. The gas tank cannot be "topped off". . . All things considered, this was a seemingly acceptable issue. The engine light coming on accompanied by totally unexplained stalling every so often became a problem which would cease just as randomly as it occurred. Finally (when pregnant and nervous) I brought it in after one too many times. Apparently this Jeep model/year is weather sensitive. Rain seemed to be the catalyst, but I refuse to put one of those anal person car covers on becoming a slave to the weatherchannel. Mechanic changed temperamental sensor which, so far, seems to be managed. The a/c fan only works at 3 and up, which is too much hot/cold for even the most anemic after more than five minutes. Back to the weather, winter causes front struts to creak and moan like a geriatric beast. Once again, this is annoying but seemingly innocuous. Four wheel drive shift only works in part time hi (or low, don't recall), which is disappointing though again, not life threatening. The combination of these defects simply feels as if it was built with indifference to the consumer. Now that I have two priceless passengers, I refuse to wait for the cv joints to disengage before demanding all repairs be made and double checked by my implicitly trusted mechanic (ironically also a twin). In closing, thank you to all who contributed their stories and enlightening me to caution regarding the dangerous flaws as well as commiserating our shared frustration with the problems, like the window track disengaging, which combined are one big expensive potentiality dangerous headache.
