Ball joint & control arm suspension failure twice in 3 years.
Been over 30 days since vehicle was inspected for a recall that requires installing a tow hitch. Manufacturer will not provide an eta for parts however I can go thru various other methods to obtain parts needed within a few days. Seems like manufacturer is stalling and not wanting to fix issue.
Upper lower control arm on front end passenger side broke and vibration and driver side locked up and broke wheel hub.
Ball joint & control arm failure, twice within 3 years.
I was driving home from work to get my daughter and went to turn onto another road, heard a pop and then didn't have control of the car. The rear control arm broke off.
The window regulator has broken on 3/4 of the windows in the vehicle. One was replaced at the dealership at the cost of over $500 and now the 2 rear windows have been affected. There are numerous forums online stating that this is a persistent problem with this particular make and model of vehicle.
After contacting the 800# was referred to finlay Jeep in post falls idaho. After calling them 2x in 30 days they have said the parts are on back order. Did not take my number or info. To get me on a list for the recall repair. Recall #u38/NHTSA. Why is this recall seeming to not be important?.
The two front windows do not go up right in the Jeep and get stuck and go up sideways. The passenger front windows can not be put down far or a cord will come up from under the window. Seems to be a known problem in this make of Jeeps.
Window regulators. Windows fall into the door and will not come back up. Vehicle was stationary this time. Repeated occurrences. I am told by the dealer that the time frame is up for the recall; however, I had this fixed during the recall period and it is broken again.
Have a 2007 Jeep Liberty, where the window regulators have failed 5 times. 3 times was covered under warranty. Last time (11/09/15) had to pay $450. 00 for repair. This time, the estimated cost is another $450. 00. I am the original owner. Five failures for the same part is ridiculous. I understand there was a class action suit brought against Chrysler for this problem, but don't know if that suit is still active or if I can get added to it, or if I can get reimbursed for the repair. I am located in florida.
Since I'm limited to word use I'll try to keep it short loss of power to turns off and doesn't want to restart, cruise control, mirrors, half of fuse box, windows off and on, ignition starts on it's own when in the start position, traction light now comes on, electronic throttle control light has come on, part time light stays on when in 2 wd. I can feel how it's trying to switch back and forth. This vehicle is becoming a lemon. I've changed the fuel pump, crank and cam sensors and also changed switches in the steering column. In which none of fixed the problems. After talking to the dealership I was told the wiring harness needs to be changed but that part is discontinued. . . . The vehicle isn't 10 years or older and after researching these issues there are many many Liberty owners with these same issues. How can we fix our vehicles if this part isn't available to us or the dealership??? Jeep has known about this problem all alone but doesn't want to have to do a recall on every since Jeep to fix this issue but I will not buy another Jeep unless they fix the issue. . I love the vehicle other than the problems I'm having. This happens at any given time without notice and is becoming worst. If I lose power and I'm driving this could cause an accident with lots of injuries if not death. Please make Jeep fix our vehicles. I can't afford to buy a new vehicle. This body is in great shape.
Window falling down inside of door panel, this would be the 5th time it's happened.
I was driving my Jeep down a steep road in the summer 2016 when the esp bas lights came on. I took it to our local Jeep dealership and they diagnosed it as being a 'clockspring' issue. When they checked for availability, it was back ordered -60 and even told me they might not be able to get one, which to me means that is is an issue that happens quite frequently. I did ask if there was a recall on this part and was told 'no'. I was told that normally the clockspring is lifetime warrantied. Not the case with the Jeep Liberty. They finally found one and I have it scheduled to be put in tomorrow, 03/31. 2017. This part is costing me a lot of money. I don't know if it is related to the spring, but occasionally my wheels lock for approximately a second or 2. You can feel the brake apply and hear it make a sound on the asphalt. Like a skid. I am going to tell them about the issue on 03/31. I am a senior who does not have a lot of money; as a matter of fact, I had to borrow the money to repair my Jeep.
Left rear window falls into door on highway I-95 on the way back home from office.
All 4 windows on my car have failed widow regulators, so none of my windows stay up. I have 2 other friends with the same make and model that have the same problem.
I drive a stick. Emergency brake was engaged and in 2nd gear. Parked on a slight decline. After a hour of being parked car rolled into a pizza hut. Police reports and insurance claim made. My car was in a parking lot parked.
Jeep is refusing to provide or manufacture the trailer hitch required to protect the fuel tank!.
Front passenger window glass has dropped down into the door. The motor still makes sound as though it is working but the glass does not move.
The ac began blowing hot assuming it just needed service took to my mechanic, he said the ac light on the button on the dash was also not working but freon pressure was fine, take it to dealership. Took into dealership informed me that it needs hvac control that it had gone out caused clutch to seize and then caused compressor to have a small fire. They are recommending replacement of both at 463 for hvac control head and ac compressor at 738 for a grand total of approx. 1200 for repairs. This hvac system has been known to catch fire in the passenger area and has been recalled but they keep telling me that my vehicle VIN does not match the ones that have been recalled. This could have resulted in a dangerous vehicle fire and this is my family vehicle that my 20yr old and 10 year old son often ride in.
This complaint in in regards to the blower motor. I contacted Chrysler about the blower motor on my Jeep because this is the second time I've had a problem with it. The first time was taken care of because it was still under warranty after my purchase in 2014. But it has gone out again. This time the blower motor had gotten so hot that it melted the wire casing of the wires. This could have caused a fire. The company said that since it's not under warranty it's not there problem. I feel that someone should look into the problem with the blower motors. I had also contacted the dealership because there had been a recall on trailer hitch. While I was on the phone with them I asked about the blower motor. They said that there wasn't a recall on it. But the person I spoke to had said he has the same vehicle and the same thing happened to him and that he had to pay for the repairs. This is an obvious problem with this model blower motor and Chrysler should take it seriously before someone gets injured or killed because it starts a fire. I was just lucky enough that mine didn't catch fire.
Jeep has been exceedingly slow to follow through on the mandated recall of my vehicle--I waited well over a year for the first notice, another 6 months for the notice to contact my local Jeep dealer to have a hitch installed to prevent explosion during rear-end collision,or have my after-market hitch inspected for meeting this requirement. I tried for 2 months to get an appointment for the recall but was delayed repeatedly. I only got the recall inspection performed during the course of having other paid repair work done. My after market hitch passed inspection,so no oem hitch was installed. I mailed in the original receipt for the after-market hitch to Jeep as instructed on the recall postcard for reimbursement but received a phone call today stating that Jeep will not reimburse me for the aftermarket hitch because it is not an oem part. I then requested to have an oem hitch put on in place of the one I previously had installed but they refuse. This recall process has been mishandled by Jeep all around, start to finish, and needs to be better monitored by ntsb or other appropriate government organization responsible for compelling automakers' compliance with recalls. If I had known Jeep would approve my after market hitch for recall purposes but not reimburse me, I would have removed my aftermarket hitch to sell and required Jeep to install an oem hitch at their expense. It makes no sense to say that Jeep's responsibility for the recall is met by the hitch I paid to install, but then refuse to reimburse me, when I could have required them to install an oem hitch at their expense had I removed my hitch prior to inspection. Jeep/Chrysler is getting away with something they should not. If a hitch satisfies recall requirements and was paid for by the car owner, then it should qualify for reimbursement. Deeply wrong for consumers.
I just went into the dealer for recall n46. (install trailer hitch due to possible gas tank fire) in the recall letter Chrysler calls it an oem trailer hitch. After the work is done I try to find out the rating class of the hitch, but no one knows. I call Chrysler recall assistance center and I am told that it is a frame reinforcement and not a trailer hitch. It can not be used for towing anything. Although it has the look of a trailer hitch. Because it is being called a trailer hitch and it looks like one I am concerned for the following: *neither Chrysler nor the dealer are informing the customer, what about the customer that just runs out and buys a tongue and ball and starts using it to tow? *recall states that if you have a non oem hitch it will be inspected and if it has punctures or sharp edges it will be replaced with the new oem hitch. Now you have a person who had a functional trailer hitch for years and replacing it with a non functioning "trailer hitch" and not telling them. If I had had a working trailer hitch for years that I use regularly and you replaced it with a non functioning one I would be really ticked off. Because of the examples listed above (and there are others) I believe this recall could cause more problems, damages, etc than the problem with the gas tanks to begin with. *they need to stop calling it a trailer hitch. *every customer having to have this done needs to be informed that it is not a real trailer hitch and they can not tow with it. Chrysler recall notice also states "Chrysler recommends you remove the ball and ball mount whenever your vehicle is not actually in use of towing". That is also misleading (giving impression that it is a trailer hitch) and why is it even in there at all.
Rairdon Jeep dealership has had over a month to install trailer hitch for the recall on these vehicles and after calling them three times they said I am number 40 on their list and they have had only ten hitches delivered to them since the recall.
I am writing about the window regulators in a 2007 Jeep Liberty. Several years back, there was a recall, and within the time frame of that recall, we had 3 window regulators go bad and get fixed. We just had the 4th window slide down and now Jeep is saying the warranty is no longer in effect and they will not fix it. It shouldn't matter when the problem happened, a problem is a problem and it shouldn't have to happen within a certain time frame to get it fixed.
While driving to my daughter's school on 08/08, I heard a loud pop while turning onto a major secondary road. The front end on passenger side dropped on the tire and I lost control of the vehicle (the steering wheel got shaky and wobbly) and I was fighting to maintain control of the vehicle which almost cost me to flip over. I was able to bring the vehicle to a stop in the medium. In accessing the damage, my front tire is partially flat, my front end bumper is laying heavily on the wheel on the right side which is causing the truck to lean. The vehicle was towed to my home where the tow truck driver assess the ball joint on the right side had dismantled. I'm aware there is no recall for this year but from the previous years, there has been recalls for the same problem experienced by other Jeep drivers. I implore you to investigate this problem because I almost lost my life on yesterday and could had possibly hurt others in the process. I quite sure Chrysler inc has been receiving complaints about this but has failed to help consumers. Because of this, I'm without a vehicle and have to find other means of transportation. Please investigate this before some one loses his or her life behind this defect.
I received the first recall August, 2014. I received many others since then. Called the local Jeep dealer and was told I was on a waiting list. I called Feb. , 2015- was told 3-4 weeks. Received safety recall from Chrysler recently indicating if I was having problems getting the vehicle in to be fixed and that I may qualify for $100 visa prepaid card, due to the wait time. I am still not scheduled to have fuel tank fixed.
Window falling down inside of door panel, I don't remember if I was moving or stationary at the time. It has happened in both instances.
On this date I was driving down hy 97 at 60mph. The right side rear window fell down. This is the 3rd window out of 4 that this has happened to. The dealer, damskov auto in omak, wa. Fixed the left rear for free. When the drivers side window fell, they said it was not covered under the recall. Now my 3rd one was just inspected and an estimate given ($391) to repair it also. With 2 car seats in the rear, this is a serious safety issue that Jeep refuses to accept responsibility for. Ive notified Jeep 3 times and they still refuse to repair this. There is a recall on this Jeep for the windows, however they say not this exact part that keeps breaking. Please help me. The cost is exorbitant for an issue that they are aware of. Thank you for your time.
Both rear window regulators in my 2007 Jeep Liberty sport have failed, and I have only owned this Jeep for 5 months.
I have had the exact same problem as NHTSA id # 10615513. My window went down and wouldn't go back up. When I originally purchased this vehicle, I had taken it back for a problem w/that window, but they said they found no problem. I ended up having to go pay out of pocket for an entire new window system, so I could get the window to roll up. I do believe this seems to be a recurring problem since others have complained also.
2007 Jeep Liberty - power window regulator failure: June 3 - 2014 - the right front power window regulator failed and became inoperable. On July 10, 2014, the right rear power window regulator failed, and the window rolled down on its own while my daughter was operating the vehicle at highway speed. The window became inoperable and could not be rolled back up. In the service tech's report, the window regulator "came apart. " Chrysler-Jeep had extended the warranty on this part to seven years from service date through March 7, 2014 or one million miles, whichever came first. Therefore they refuse to cover the repair cost under warranty. I am sending this report because I believe these two incidents have identified an important safety issue. Because the failure causes the window to roll down on its own and become inoperable, if it does so at highway speed or in inclement conditions this could present a safety hazard. Also the fact that two different window regulators on the same vehicle failed in consecutive months roughly one month apart indicates to me that there may be a systemic problem with this part, and all such parts should be investigated.
Had been in contact with Chrysler and local Jeep dealer since September 2013 concerning installation of trailer hitch to minimize rear-end collision and potential explosions on my Jeep 2007 Liberty. In April 2014 had trailer hitch installed by private company then subsequently sent invoice for hitch to Chrysler requesting reimbursement for hitch and installation. On Friday, may 16, 2014 received call from Chrysler representative stating that the hitch installed did not qualify for reimbursement. Per representative the hitch had to be an omg vs. The hitch installed by private professionals. Very disappointed with Chrysler and appears they have no desire to minimize potential dangers in their vehicles even when a purchaser takes the initiative to resolve the issue.
Rear structure reinforcement. I finally was able to talk to someone on the phone about getting the oem trailer hitch to fix the safety recall, it has been over a month, Chrysler Jeep Dodge of spring has not called me back about when the part will come in (after I ordered it) and I cannot get ahold of anyone at the dealership.
Was a recall notice issued for Jeep 2007 Liberty? no one at the dealers knows anything about it/.
Glass lift plate& motor have both given out at least twice in less than 2 years. It costs over $200 to have the dealer fix it. The window just falls for no reason. Come on we need a break. I dont know about the rest of the world but when I have to pay to fix something and it is veryexpensive I expect quality.
