5 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/26/2016

Almost every time I fill-up, there is a splash-back from the fuel filler opening. This apparently is a very common problem with the Liberty model among others. I spoke with the service department at the dealership and was told that I would need to pay for any repairs since there was no recall that would pay for it. I then contacted Chrysler who told me that my specific Liberty is not part of any recall or TSB so they cannot help. I believe this problem poses a hazard if the gas was to ignite. The most recent occurrence was on 26 February 2016.

6 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2016

Many Jeep vehicles have gas blow back during refueling. This problem has existed for a number of years and Jeep has issued recalls. Please read the following: if each Jeep user spills . 1 gallon during refueling and they refuel the Jeep 12 times per year they spill 1. 2 gallons per year. This is a very low estimate. If there are 100,000 Jeeps experiencing this problem that is 120,000 gallons of gas per year. Does anyone at NHTSA care?.

24 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/11/2014

My 2007 Jeep Liberty was included in a recall concerning the potential for fire in certain rear end collisions. I was notified over a year ago (approximately November 2013) by mail and was informed I would be contacted again when parts were available. Approximately may 21, 2014 at 7:32 am, I called the number on the recall to find out why there had been no further contact. I was told I would be contacted nom later than August 2014. On sept 10, 2014, I called the number again on the original recall and was finally connected to a dealer. I made an appointment for 9/12/14 at 2:00pm as I was told the service dept. Was wide open. The next day I was called by the dealer to inform me that "they needed to reschedule". So it has been over a year since the notification of a "safety recall" and nothing has been done.

Since receiving the recall notification, I have contacted Jeep seaview several times to get the potential problem resolved and I am being told that only limited quantities have been sent to the dealership. I find this unacceptable. If there is a recall that is a planned event, shouldn't there be enough parts to replace defective ones? after all, you know how many vehicles are affected and in what areas of the country you need replacements. What's the delay?.

After receiving the warning letter concerning the recall on my vehicle I did get a response from Chrysler. Which read (the parts required to remedy the situation were not available). And they will send me a follow up notice when to bring my car in for repair. After quite a long time I get notices from them telling me to come in and purchace a new car. That may help them solve the problem but it does not help me because I cannot always afford to use new car purchase to solve my problems.
