Fuel overflows & doesn't shut off when full! every time we put fuel into the car, it will not allow the pump to shut off when the tank becomes full-no matter how slow one fills the tank, it creates a fuel burp and pours gasoline out & down the vehicle. All of us, including our young driver, need to be extremely cautious when at a gas station. Very very unsafe could be very dangerous!.
The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that fuel spilled onto the ground when fuel was being placed in the fuel tank. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
The gas tank is improperly designed, while pumping gas it will not properly shut off, will spray gas which is clearly dangerous.
Jeep is refusing to provide or manufacture the trailer hitch required to protect the fuel tank!.
I purchased a car from u. S. Auto sales in columbia, south carolina on June 12th 2015. The evening I took the car home the gas gauge was not at the empty mark and the car shut off and the check engine light came on. I took it back to the dealership and informed them of this and they proceeded to tell me that it is an ongoing Chrysler issue and to not let the gas tank to get below a quarter tank. They proceeded to reset the check engine light. 2 weeks later the check engine light came on again. So I took to a local auto store to have a diagnostics run and was informed that a wheel bearing was needed, a catalytic converter and a fuel line because at a certain level the gas will not reach the engine. Today in south carolina the temperature is well over 100 degrees and while I was driving my air conditioner stopped working. I have had more issues out of this car within the 30 days I have had it. I did purchase a warranty only to be told that I would have to bear some of the cost to fix a vehicle I just purchased. I am now waiting on a call from their mechanic once he gets the parts in to do the repairs. I believe I was knowingly sold a lemon. I was also told that if I had any issues with the car to bring it in and I will be given a loaner car. Well when I did bring it in I was basically told to get in line and wait because they had no loaner vehicles. Now I am basically stuck with a vehicle with no air and if the gas get past a half tank the car will shut off and if not repaired soon could potentially blow up with me and my children in it. Yes I have called the dealer to request another vehicle and was basically brushed off and told no.
When pumping gas and it shuts off automatically gas spews out like a volcano from the gas tank. It's so bad that the gas attendant has had to come over and put absorbent material on top of the gas spill and we've had to wash down our car so it won't eat the paint. I contacted Jeep who told me there is no recall on this particular vehicle, but this is a problem with other Jeep models and there is a current recall on those models. It sounds like they need to expand their recall to include the 2007 Jeep Liberty's that have this problem. Thank you.
Ever single time I fill up my gas tank it overflows. This is not anything new. The model of my car one year after has a fuel tank recall so why isn't there one for the 200 kj Jeep Liberty.
Fuel gushes out of tank everytime it is filled up. Happens at all gas stations. Needs to be recalled. Safety risk and also environmental risk.
I received a safety recall notice # n46/NHTSA 13v-252 last year stating the fuel tank on my vehicle has a chance of experiencing a fuel leak and requires inspection and installation of an oem trailer hitch, free of charge to better manage crash forces in low-speed impacts. Over the course of several months, I have made several attempts to resolve this matter with the following dealer with no success. I am repeatedly told the "parts are still not in", so they cannot help me. It has now been over 6 months with no resolution. Tuttle-click 40 auto center drive irvine, CA 949-472-7400.
My Jeep Liberty has a safety recall (n46/NHTSA 13v-252) relative to the fuel tank leaking. A number of months ago, I visited my local dealer, in order to find out when the repairs would be made. I was told that they don't have the parts to make the fix, and that they will call me, that I shouldn't call them. Today I called the Chrysler recall center, and was told that they don't have the parts to make the fix. Isn't there a time limit for making defect repairs? my Jeep is already 7 years old. If Chrysler waits another 7 years, I' m sure they will need few if any parts to make repairs. I want my Jeep repaired, before it gets rear ended, and catches fire with me in it!!!!!.
We had a recall over year ago, we have called gladstone Dodge 5610 n oak, kansas city mo. 816-455-3500. They tell us Chrysler has not sent them the parts. Would like to know when we can get fueltank fixed. There is no incident, this is a recall.
Received a recall notice 1-8-1014 about a problem with the fuel tank . The dealers keep telling me there are no parts to remedy the problem. I am worried about my grand children driving the car. Recall notice # n46 / NHTSA 13v-252.
Recall notice sent to my home with a statement that we'd hear from someone regarding the repair. This was in regards to a fuel tank issue. The notice said the parts required were not available yet. It's been months. It does not appear a good faith to get parts and do repairs is being handled.
The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Liberty. The contact was refueling when fuel spewed out from the filler neck and onto the contact. The contact indicated that the failure would occur prior to the click that indicated that the fuel tank was full. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and no solution was offered. The failure mileage was 60,000.
When fueling my 2007 Jeep Liberty, once the tank reaches the full point it burps out approximately 1 to 3 cups of gas with enough force to spill on me, if I am not standing to the side. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership and they where aware of this problem and stated no recall was in effect. I feel this is a very dangerous manufacturer defect that should be taken care of by recall. The dealer stated that the fuel canister and esim switch need to be replace for the cost of $250. 00. As a retired firefighter I am surprised that this situation has not be addressed NHTSA. Due to the potential of gas spills and potential fire at gas stations. Not to mention epa impacts.
Jeep sent a voluntary recall letter in April of 2013 about the fuel tank possibly erupting during a rear end crash. I have contacted the dealer several times and they still have no parts for this recall (15 months later). The very last sentence says,". . . . . We are extremely concerned about your safety. " apparently, Jeep (Chrysler) is not real concerned. How many people need to die before someone makes them do the right thing?.
My gas tank overflows wont shut off at the pump been recalled 2 times I took it in set there for about 2 hours they said they would get in touch with me been months again twin city Dodge in lafayette suppose to put a hitch behind tank.
Everytime I fill the gas tank, it does not shut off when the fuel reaches the nozzle. The gas shoots out and runs down the car. It has got on my clothes and is very dangerous. This needs to be fixed. I hope you can get the problem addressed soon.
I bought this vehicle used from a local dealership in October of 2012, when I went to fill the fuel tank the fuel filler neck did not register when it was full causing gasoline to splash back out on myself, vehicle, and ground. I emailed daimler Chrysler Jeep in regards to this and was told there was no recalls and even if there were my vehicle was to old. I find this a safety issue as well as an environmental issue and feel it should be corrected.
