1 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2019

When trying to unlock with remote key, horn blares, wipers go, washer fluid sprays, locks go haywire. Happens regularly now, also started while idling for awhile. Concern is that it will do this when driving soon. On one occasion I started vehicle but it would not turn off while doing this. Happened a least a dozen times in last 6-8 weeks.

2 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/23/2018

The security horn will go off for no reason and if you place the key in the ignition that wont stop it. I have read several reviews and other have had this problem. It cost me $380. 00 to get a new key fob and the reset the computer system.

3 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2018

My car is possessed the horn goes off, the lock continuously lock and unlock, the wipers won't stop, and the horn beeps! it happens very sparaticly it hasn't happened in months then it statred up again today! there are many people that are having this same problem and I don't understand why there isn't a recall this is reduculous! it won't stop when I drive and it won't stop unless it sits for a while or I disconnect the battery!.

4 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2018

We were leaving for a trip and got about 200 feet from our front door and the windshield wipers started going on their own, there was windshield fluid coming out and the horn was honking. The car was running but we were at a stop. We shut the car off and started it back up and it stopped. We started our trip and realized that the electrical outlet no longer would stay on and the doors would not operate with the remote. We stopped at an auto parts store to use their code checker and we got a read error and the car never started again. We were 70 miles from home, cost us $300 to have the car towed. We had the tipm replaced for a mere $840, the doors still do not operate with the remote and it is back in the shop. Very frustrated at this point.

5 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2018

Bought the vehicle in va on 2/19/18, driving home to me and after 50 miles in rain the horn started going off every time the wipers moved. Pushed the horn button and the washer fluid started squirting out. Was able to pull over and had to shut the Jeep off then was able to continue. Stopped in CT for gas and got back on the interstate and the all lights turned off on the outside but all the dash warning lights turned on, wipers turned on, horn turned on, washer fluid sprayer went continuously and the motor would stop and start on its own, while moving! luckily, made it to the side of the road and turned the ignition off but all electrical components continued to go off randomly then the car would not restart. After turning the key on and off multiple times, moving the shifting lever, pulling fuses from the panel under the hood and putting them back in it started running again. This happened a second time about 100 miles later. Was able to get the car back to me but after I shut the Jeep off and started it back up the horn and wipers started going off without any switches being touched. Looked this issue up online and found that this is a very common problem for Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler vehicles made in and around this time. Had a recall been done I would have known this was a possible issue and been able to make a better choice of a car to buy for my daughter. There was a real danger of getting into an accident when all of the lights went out while driving in the rain on a busy interstate and then the motor turning off and on while in traffic.

6 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2017

My tipm went out on my 2008 Liberty, a few weeks ago, windshield wipers turned on by themselves, horn blowing by its self, the Jeep doesn't turn off even when the key isn't in the ignition, also the hazard lights turn on by themselves. It gotten to the point that the Jeep stopped in the middle of the road while I was driving. This is a very dangerous malfunction that cost a lot to fix and it isn't covered under my extended warranty. Chrysler should have recalled 2008 -2012 Jeep liberties also.

7 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2017

Tipm car alarm goes off wipers go front and back horn blaring windshield washer fluid squirts out.

8 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2017

Car horn goes off, locks continously lock and unlock, windshield wipers go off, wiper fluid sprays out, lights blink off and on. Only way to stop it is to unhook the battery. To get this to completely stop is to do a hard reset of the fuse box and hope it doesn't happen again. This has happened 6 times starting in 2015. Never knew what the problem was until I googled this. I purchased this car brand new, it did happen after the first 2 years while driving but I thought it was just a fluke until it started happening more and more then never stopped on it's own. Can't believe there has never been a recall on this problem.

9 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2017

The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Liberty. While driving 20 mph, the horn and windshield wipers continued to operate independently. In addition, the contact stated that the windshield wiper fluid continued to spew out and failed to shut off. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but the failure was unable to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 98,000.

10 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2016

I've had my Jeep for 2. 5 years now. When I first got it, everything was fine and it was inspected prior to purchase. For the past year, the airbag light will come on and off on its own. At first it was intermittent, but for the past 6 months, it is constantly on when the vehicle is running. In addition, about 6 months ago, while driving about 25 mph on a dark, winding road, the horn started sounding and the windshield wipers began running at full speed. I put the car in park, turned it off and then on again, and it stopped. This has not happened again since.

11 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2016

While driving on June 30, 2016; the Jeep goes into panic mode, lights flashing, windshield wipers working, door locks locking and unlocking, and horn sounding automatically. Vehicle is not disarming. This is the second time since Feb 2015. Problem was told to be car battery. Battery replaced. Remote battery works fine, this is dangerous and the problem keeps getting reported with no action taken by Jeep-Chrysler for recall.

12 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2016

It started with my power door locks 2 years ago. They quit working but the power windows worked fine. When you tried to change the fuse it would pop and burn out right away. We assumed it was a short somewhere. Then my rear outlet quit working, my windshield wiper fluid stopped working, air bag light goes on and off among other issues. Now nothing works. The battery was disconnected so we could try to reset the systems and now the horn sirens continuously, light flash, windshield wipers and fluid are flying, door locks that would not work are moving up and down. It looks like my Jeep Liberty is possessed! why is this not recalled???? this is a huge safety hazard. I have read that it may start working again but it will malfunction. . . You just don't know when.

13 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2016

Driving on city street when horn began intermittently beeping and wipers and washers front and back activated. Pulled off to side of road, removed key, engine continued to run, along with horn, wipers, washers and locks continued to intermittently activate. Lasted 15 minutes and this is the 5th time happening. After certain amount of time car functions normally. One instance occurred at night and lights turned off.

14 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2015

First off, this issue is extremely dangerous! it's already been to the dealership and all they want to do is beat around the bush and will not replace the tipm! the dealership claims to not have a device to properly test the tipm, and says its other parts causing the issue. My Jeep's lights won't work correctly, my horn constantly blares, I've spent almost a hundred dollars on windshield washer fluid because those constantly spray, and it's beginning to ruin parts inside of my vehicle! today the fuze box was so hot it could have been on fire! why is this not recalled?! so many people are having this issue, and the dealership refuses to replace the part in fear of having the record of it being replaced! we have spoke to cooperate as well and nothing is being done. All it takes is the tipm freaking out causing a fire, or headlights to fail and causing an accident or death. This needs to be taken seriously! I love my Jeep to death, but to take my Jeep to the dealership to "fix" this issue, spend over 600 dollars to replace a melted cord and a burned out fan motor for ac/heat that could be causing these issues is a freaking joke, when the faulty tipm caused the wire to melt!!.

15 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2015

While pulling into parking space, horn suddenly blows, wipers and washers come on, lights come oncar bucks. Brought to dealer kept for 3 days, no answer. 3 days later car parked horn blows wipers on, doors lock. 2 days after car parked same thing. Dealer can find no codes. Repeat of same incidents from 8/20/14, same response from dealer.

Failure Date: 08/03/2015

Electrical problem- driving down the road at 20 mph and horn starts going off, windshield wipers ( front and back ) staring moving, interior lights and exterior lights start flickering. Shut car off and it doesn't stop until you pull the negative battery terminal. Nothing works during this outburst no keyless entry no power windows. Car kinda sits there confulsing.

17 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2015

Driving at 40 when the horn, wipers, and lights start going crazy. Had to pull over and restart the car to get it to stop. Took it to the dealer, they diagnosed the tpim to be faulty and it would cost 1200 to fix. Come to find out the tpim has been recalled by chrysle but not for the 2008 models.

The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Liberty. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle restarted after the contact disconnected and reconnected the battery cable. On one other occasion, while driving approximately 55 mph, the front headlights independently powered off without warning. The headlights illuminated again when the vehicle was turned off and restarted. On another occasion, while the vehicle was parked, the contact depressed the unlock button on the fobik and the horn consistently sounded and the headlights flashed. The contact detached and reattached the battery cable and the lights powered off and the horn no longer sounded. Failure Date: 03/27/2015

Vehicle shuts off while driving without notice and will not start right away leave set for a 1/2 hour or so and it starts back up but horn blows wippers come on and doors will not unlock automaticly this could be a real problem if in an acident due to shutting off on the freeway and I can not exit the vehicle. I was told that the problem is in the (tipm) and that there have been many problems with this but there is no recall. This in my oppinion is a huge safety concern.

21 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2015

When using my remote to unlock my 2008 Jeep Liberty, the horn starts honking, the windshield wipers (front and back) turn on, the windshield washers (front and back) shoot fluid, the door locks won't open and the headlights turn on and off. This has happened four times in the last two months. The headlights have also started turning off while driving and I'm unable to turn them back on.

22 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2015

When drivers door was opened, vehicle horn, wipers both front and rear all began to operate and I was unable to start and maintain the engine running, it was necessary to disconnect the battery terminal in order to stop everything. A month later, I was in town and it did the same thing. In April while coming to a stop sign the vehicle stopped running and the horn, wipers and lights all began operating. I was able to control the vehicle until it stopped. The battery had to be disconnected in order to get the vehicle to run. The next afternoon, it did it again however disconnecting and reconnecting the battery did not solve the problem. I had to leave the battery disconnected all night in order for the vehicle to reset.

23 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2014

Two claims filed per this complaint. 1) sky slider leak; failure - overhaul/replacement required due to track/cable failure. Was leaking into vehicle, as well as leaking into dome light. Inspected per Jeep authorized dealer, confirmed sky slider no longer properly sealing and has failed, requiring total system overhaul and replacement. Referencing various NHTSA documented claims, it already a known issue and in need of resolution. . I was responsible for paying all costs associated with repair, which was over $4000. 00 total. Additionally, the vehicle has suffered a substantial drop in overall resale value due to vehicles reputation for having costly defects and overlooked for recall and warranty. Dealer performed repair at my expense, but I am currently requesting that this claim is properly reviewed for a proper, more cost-effective solution to defective unit. 2) vehicle suffers from temporary rough idle and significant drops in rpm's, nearly stalling itself out. Also begins suffering from intermittent loss of vehicle and device related functions such as loss of horn function, intermittent or partial lights function or window operation. On 2 different occasions while operating under the erratic conditions, the rear window hatch unlocked itself as though the button was hit on mfr. Key fob. These issue occurs randomly and typically last no more than 5 minutes before normal operation returns. Due to lack of information on the cause of this issue, what components are effected and what the specific defect is capable of performing, it is something needing to be looked into for proper resolution.

24 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2014

Tl-the contact owns a 2008 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that the headlights flickered, the horn activated independently and the windshield wipers with wiper fluid independently activated. Additionally, the vehicle jerked and stalled. The vehicle could be restarted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician diagnosed that the tipm needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. Djr.

25 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2014

It started a with when I got out of Jeep and push button to lock the vehicle it wouldn't lock and the horn would not beep like it does when it locks so I had to lock it manually. When I got out of store and got back into Jeep it worked and it only happens after the car has warmed up is what it seems like, then I was pulling into a turning lane and slowing down and heard a horn beep loud just to realize that it was my Jeep that beeped and I never pressed the horn at all. Then today I get into car and sit in seat and use the power seat button to adjust the driver seat and didn't even touch the steering wheel and didn't put the key in ignition either and my flashers started flashing but, then cut right off. When I got where I was going and parked my Jeep it happened again the flashers started to flash and then stopped. When I walked up to the Jeep without pressing any buttons my car unlocked on its own and the lights came on. Sometimes my radio takes about 10 seconds or so before it starts to work. Windshield wiper doesnt want to blow out any fluid says it needs a motor. Have a slider roof and noticed that it has leaked previously cause I can see rain marks around the edges of the slider and when driving down the road I can hear wind from coming the roof so its not sealing like it should. I can have the heat on but, later in the day when it gets hot I will turn on the ac and the ac doesn't want to blow out cold air and I fiddle with the switches for a bit, I can finally get it to come on. I just bought it last January so I haven't even had it a year yet and always take it in for servicing please help me I have seen recalls for similar problems with the same Jeep but, your site tells me no open recalls so how do I know if mine has been repaired?.

26 Horn Assembly problem

27 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2014

Purchased vehicle used in 2013 11/17/2015 1. Engine continues to run when key is removed from ignition switch. While parked. First noticed last week 11/08/2015 (only as long as the preset time on the radio shut off or the door is opened) 2. With cruise control set and going up hill, transmission down shifts to maintain speed. While trying to keep speed up and then break applied, excessive force is required to dis-engage cruise control. While driving at normal speeds. For as long as I can remember. (break switch has been changed twice) 3. While filling fuel tank at gas station, paying close attention to the pump, fuel will pour out from the filler neck after the pump has shut off. For as long as I can remember. (many occasions) 4. Check engine light continuously on. Possible damage to hoses on emissions canister in left rear wheel well due to gas spillage? (as long as I can remember) 5. Gas cap indicator comes on at start. Possible damage to hoses on emissions canister in left rear wheel well due to gas spillage? (need to manually turn off, changed gas cap twice) 6. It seems that all things electrical have a delay to their function, flashing high beams, honking horn. . . While parked or driving. For as long as I can remember. (all of the time).

28 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2014

Occasion 1. Vehicle parked. Lights began flashing, horn sounding, washers squirting, door locks operating. Unable to exit vehicle. Trapped inside with 4 year old grandson for ten minutes. Ignition key inoperable. Finally managed to get vehicle ignition going, and drove home. Vehicle power fluctuating causing uncontrollable power surges. Occasion 2. Vehicle approaching junction at 10 mph. Lights. Horn, washers, doorlocks operating - pulled vehicle over, unable to engage park, removed key from ignition - vehicle engine still running but managed to engage park, however then could not get it out of park. Exited vehicle , engine still running, lights, horn etc actuating, and could not re-enter vehicle. Numerous complaints of this on this website as well as various Jeep forums. Contact with Jeep gives no response other than vehicle out of warranty see your dealer. This is a systemic problem, not a spurious one off specific vehicle fault and could be a safety concern given the lack of control you have over basic vehicle powertrain and driveabiltiy functions. Jeep had already repaired the vehicle under warranty once before for same fault. Removing battery connections resets the system until the problem re-occurs. Throws error code p0883 occasionally when in this malfunctioning mode.

29 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2014

February 2014: opened my car with the key when the fob wouldn't work. Horn and radio blared, both front and rear windshield wipers turned on, in addition to all dashboard lights. Continued for 10 minutes until battery was disconnected. In that time, the car would not start. After 5 minutes, the battery was reconnected and the car started without issue. April 2014: while turning into a gas station, my Jeep completely stopped. After waiting 2 minutes it started again. I took it to my local mechanic who cleaned corrosion around the battery. 2 weeks later, I was driving on a 3 lane highway, began to decelerate and at approximately 25mph, the Jeep's engine turned off. At the same time, all of the dashboard lights turned on in addition to the horn and windshield wipers. Thankfully I was able to coast to the shoulder without incident, where the Jeep continued the same behavior for about 10 minutes, and then abruptly stopped. The car would not start again until the battery was disconnected and then reconnected. I brought it to a Chrysler dealer that evening and detailed the issues. They monitored it for 3 days, but ultimately returned the car stating they could not find any issues but could replace module for almost $1000! may 2014: replaced the battery and had minimal issues including windshield wipers randomly starting and stopping, but no horn or shut down issues, until. . . June 2014: a similar incident occurred that mirrored the April deceleration incident. At this point I disconnected my horn--a safety issue, but the blaring was becoming increasingly inconvenient. A week later the car turned off while pulling into a parking space. When I exited the the store and attempted to start the car, it started without incident. Since June, the Jeep has only exhibited minor issues such as the windshield wipers randomly starting, but it's only a matter of time.

30 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 03/08/2014

I bought the Jeep March of 2014. Upon purchase there seemed to be an odd noise coming from the front end. I was assured that it was caused by oversized tires. The tires were different from the standard factory but nothing that should cause that noise while driving. I asked if I could have my mechanic look at and call them for the repair. They agreed. I called a few days later after finding that the front end had some issues as well as the horn and other electrical things didn't work. I was concerned because of the safety violation. They fixed it all at no cost to me. One year later the horn and buttons stopped working again. I went in and told them what was going on and asked for the write up from last time. The write up stated that they repaired the tipm module well enough to get it to function but it would need to be replaced. I was never told this. I asked them what could be done since they didn't really fix it the first time. We came to the agreement that I would pay for labor and they would pay for the part. September 2015, while driving down the freeway I went to honk my horn only to find it wasn't working. It worked just a few hours prior. I called the dealership and spoke to the service manager and explained what was going on. He told me that it sounded like the tipm module again, and that they would warranty the part and fix it. I took it in and was then told that they would need to diagnose and make sure that it was the tipm module. I would need to pay a diagnostic fee and then pay for the fix if it wasn't that part. It ended up not being the tipm module and I was told that it was going to be a minimum of 300 dollars in labor, plus the 100 diagnostic fee for today, and whatever part needed to be replaced. I told them that I was told it was the tipm module and that I wasn't able to pay that much and felt completely ripped off.

31 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/19/2013

The vehicle's lights, horn, wipers, radio will start flashing inexplicably. When turning off the motor it continues. 2-3 times the motor cut out too. This happens about 8-10 times a year.

32 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2012

When vehicle is or is not in motion the vehicles lights, horn, turn signals, instrument gauges, and windshield wiper begin to malfunction and operate on its own squirting all the windshield wiper fluids, headlights flickering, horn honking on it's own and instrument panel gauges flicker and flashing, until either battery dies or battery becomes disconnected.

33 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2011

While driving my Jeep Liberty, the wipers and horn came on suddenly and the entire electrical panel lit up. After taking it to the dealer several times, they finally determined it was the tipm module that needed to be replaced. The part was backordered. I have since found there is a national backorder (since 2010) with over 270+ in my area alone. The issue became progressively worse as I would get in my car and it would not start. Unlocking the vehicle appears to cause the automobile to engage something electrical (though I only open it manually - not with the keyless entry) which results in the vehicle acting as though it is already on. Most recently, while driving on the freeway at 70mph, I had a jolt before the wipers/horn went off and the emergency brake light was on. I believe the system is now engaging the emergency brake. I have discontinued driving the vehicle as a result. I believe this vehicle is a lemon. There are multiple complaints online with many other Jeep owners experiencing the same issues.

34 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2010

The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Liberty. While the contact was driving at night approximately 55 mph; the horn sounded, front and rear windshield wipers engaged, and the rear window washer pump activated dispensing washer fluid. The unexpected failures occurred voluntarily. When the speed rate was reduced the failures no longer persisted. The vehicle continued traveling and fifteen minutes later, the accelerator pedal was engaged, followed by no engine power. Suddenly, the entire instrument panel warning light indicators illuminated. While the vehicle was in operation the failures reset independently. In addition, on two separate occasions the failures involving the horn, windshield wipers and wiper washer fluid activation occurred when accessing the vehicle with the remote key entry. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.

35 Horn Assembly problem

Failure Date: 02/13/2009

I was in traffic & another car came dangerously close to hitting me. I was using my horn and mid-way through it stopped working. The horn was inoperable for 3-5 minutes. This happened again the next day.
