37 Steering problem of the 2008 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 12/12/2018

When starting my car it drives okay, but if let running all the lights come on, and if I drive 5 minutes down the road it goes off and then bings and all comes back on. I am being told it may be my clockspring and most 2008 Jeeps are experiencing that after 100,000 miles but it is not a recall issue. I has the check engine on constantly as well as the airbag sensor.

41 Steering problem of the 2003 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 09/01/2018

A recall was made for Jeep Liberty for the control arms upper and lower and the ball joints. I was told my VIN did not have the recall. However, others had the recall and Jeep paid for the repairs. After the repairs the wheel hub went bad, and a recall was made for that but not my basic model. After replacing the wheel hub the driveshaft was damaged by all the issues. A recall for the same vehicle was made for a driveshaft and again the bass model was not included in the recall. This time Jeep said they would fix the driveshaft and when it came time they denied it.

43 Steering problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 07/25/2018

My back rear control arms/suspension/alignment were recalled, I had them replaced. Now my front control arms/suspension/alignment are very unsafe to drive. Wobbly, unstable, loose, noises, screeching. It feels like it’s going to break/snap/fall off. Yes my vehicle is available for inspection. I feel unsafe on turns especially. It could snap at any moment and my Jeep could roll injuring me or others. I had a tire/allignment center check the status. No warning lights or messages. The sound and issue has been going on since I got my Jeep recall fixed. The dealership hit the front of my Jeep in the parking lot and still has not taken responsibility for their actions and damages done to my Jeep. It was evaluated from Jeep’s body/auto shop estimating at outer damage 1,500$ + and they have not inspected the damage caused to the control arm/suspension/alignment from the employee hitting me Jeep into something moments before returning my Jeep from a recall-fix. Jeeo still has yet to take responsibility for the damages caused. I have not felt safe since then. The steering has been wobbly, the turns make noise and shudder like the wheel is going to break off/fall off or worse snap. I have tried numerous attempts to get these issues resolved with Jeep Liberty of san diego camino del rio s. With no responsibility taken from them for the damages they have caused making me Jeep unsafe to drive.

44 Steering problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 07/06/2018

There is only one window that will come down and it's the front driver side, they all came down and would not come back up. I replaced a regulator in the right back window and it went again so I just had them all pinned up. I've also had to replace the ac compressor twice and just put in 07/06/2018. I had to have a transmission put in 3 years ago. And now the truck is just shutting down when I come to a stop but it will start back up. I had a diagnosis test done and it didn't show any problems, but it's still shutting down and I don't know why. The mechanic said it is probably something electrical or has to do with the computer.

45 Steering problem of the 2004 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 06/26/2018

Manufacturers recall: my vehicle makes a serious vibration in the steering wheel and a loud humming noise when I drive down the road. It pulls to the right terribly and wears oot my tires constantly. It fish tales when I accelerate the gas petal and also when I take my foot off of the gas. It walks the road. And feels unstable when u reach 60mph. It feels very unsafe and does it's own thing when we are driving . It just goes all over the road . The results are the same whether it's being driven in the city or highway. Unpredictable my vehicle has been recalled by Chrysler u38 is the recall number and it's off the recall expansion of 12v-085.

46 Steering problem of the 2003 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 05/15/2018

Took my Liberty to my mechanic because it started making a horrible sound up front when ever I made a turn. Upon inspection my lower ball joints had disintegrated, crumbled into their hands. They could not believe how lucky I was that it did not break while driven. Nothing was holding it in or together. Come to find out there are recalls on both the upper and lower ball joints. I was never notified. I have had the lowers fixed and paid for with lifetime warranted parts. I need reimbursed for the lower $488. 27. The upper ball joints also must be fixed on a separate recall that I was never notified of. Do these people have any idea how bloody and devastated an accident would be when your wheel shears off and there is no steering? it's called flipping the fringing Jeep over!!! not only is it unacceptable that I wasn't notified but I could have killed my father and others in an accident. My mechanic told me straight up if I had gone over a bump or turned I would have wreaked! I can not believe that there are other people that have had accidents with more damage or a full total of theirs and others are not being reimbursed for the entire damages. Thi fixed wrong the first time by the dealer, before their wreak. How is that not their responsibility? there is no excuse for any of those Jeeps or mine not being fixed. These are straight up recalls something is wrong with this, really wrong.

47 Steering problem of the 2004 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 05/09/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2004 Jeep Liberty. While driving and making turns, the steering wheel made a loud grinding noise. The noise was also heard when the brake pedal was depressed. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 18v278000 (suspension); however, the part needed for the repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact called crown Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram greensboro at (336) 790-9850 (located at 3710 w wendover Ave, greensboro, nc 27407) and was informed that the part was not available. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

48 Steering problem of the 2005 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 02/06/2018

This has to do with recall f23 front lower ball joints. By Jeeps web site the work was done, but on Feb 6th of this year the front end failed just as I left my parking space. A few minutes later I would been on NJ 295 traveling at 65 mph. I did not know there was an older recall on this car, I had the work done by an outside shop, see attached bill.

The clutch ignition, power switch of my truck keeps stalls. The vehicle don't start, when the clutch pedal is pushed down. 54 Steering problem of the 2002 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 08/19/2017

The lower ball joint sheared off causing the wheel to fall causing the bottom of the ball joint to land on the rim. Thus cutting the rim all the way around it off and puncturing the tire. Thus causing the vehicle to slide to a stop at 50 miles an hour with a skid mark. Thus having to call for a tow truck to pick it up. Luckily no one was hurt. The vehicle was on a off ramp of a freeway to a on ramp over pass of another freeway.

58 Steering problem of the 2008 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 03/17/2017

Had 4 new goodyear wrangler sra tires installed by sam's club on 5/3/2014. Bought lifetime rotation/balance package at that time. Have tires rotated/balanced routinely. Alignment goes out each time and steering wheel also ends up out of the proper position. Alignment is completed by a specialty shop. The shop tells me I have at least one or more defective tires. Informed sam's club of issue on 4/10/2015 during the rotation/balance. Had alignment done the previous day. Sam's club denied any issue with these tires and would not follow up on it. Have learned to rotate/balance first, then do alignment. Certainly will not purchase goodyear again!.

60 Steering problem of the 2011 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 02/03/2017

I was driving 45 in a 45 mph zone in the suburbs of mesa, az suddenly my Jeep Liberty pulled severely to right causing me to hit a 3 ft diameter poll. Air bag deployed as expected but the force of air bag blew a 8 inch hole in airbag and severely broke my chest cavity and abdomen causing spleen rupture and blood and toxins in my spinal fluid. My impression of airbags is to prevent injury not cause injury. Please investigate to prevent this from happening to other Jeep Liberty owners. Was in trauma medical center for 6 days and still home painfully healing. Steering and airbag may be defective. My Jeep was totaled. Have not received police or insurance report yet. Still waiting but needed to report hopefully to prevent others from possible injury.

61 Steering problem of the 2004 Jeep Liberty

"takata recall" I don't understand why my Jeep Liberty has all recall problems yet NHTSA says not for my VIN #.

62 Steering problem of the 2002 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 11/04/2016

I made an appointment two weeks ago to have my vehicle repaired for two recalls at mick's Chrysler Jeep. I dropped my Jeep off this morning for the appointment. I just got off the phone with the service department not even an hour later. They do not have the parts to repair my vehicle. I asked how that was possible since I made the appointment two weeks ago. The guy did not have an answer. So now I have to pick up vehicle, still needing repairs due to 2 recalls (lower ball joints and the airbag orc).

63 Steering problem of the 2005 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 09/29/2016

Lower front right ball joint snapped while I was driving. Called Jeep and they said it was recalled and replaced. I asked for a location and a service order and the would not give it to me. They keep telling me to take it to the Jeep dealer which I cant because it is broke. These ball joints where recalled for breaking. Now for a second time it broke and I cant get any proof that it was ever replaced.

64 Steering problem of the 2002 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 08/26/2016

Well where do I start. Since I have purchased this vehicle in may of 2016 I have replace multiple parts ,but they weren't part of any recalls. But now my concern reviewing recalls for this vehicle and trying to address these numerous defects . I'm almost fed up. My main cover is the j17 recall for the upper control arm ball joint of which a Chrysler representative advideo my my vehicle was part of ,which I clueless on how as the recall doesn't specify other than 2002 to 2003 Liberty vwhiles . Now I show that they were replaced in the past and now they since are worn in the same description they were recalled in . And Chrysler denies responsibility (?) . . Also other concerns with the catylic converter causing a sulfur smell when the vehicle is going up hill aso well as towing . One more thing is numerous online forum about the engine ticking being normal and unfixable other then to replace the engine . Now all this plus the multiple parts I have already replaced a vehicle less then 15 years on the market needed a in other words fully restoration is unacceptable. Especially when I have stock 1948 Jeep that need less repairs than this .

65 Steering problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 07/26/2016

On two different occasions while driving on the highway at 60 mph to 70 mph, the engine of the vehicle shut down completely, without warning, with the loss of all steering or control over the vehicle. On two other occasions, the engine shut down completely, without warning, with the loss of any steering or control over the vehicle, after exiting the highway and entering city traffic. That is a total of four engine shut downs or stalls while driving the vehicle. The dealer can find nothing wrong with the vehicle. We just bought the vehicle, and this is nerve-wrecking and dangerous to say the least. The engine shuts down after driving long distances, and has happened from driving distances of approximately 90 miles to 160 miles. If you wait approximately one hour, the vehicle will then start up again and run. But it will stall again with complete loss of power. Others on the internet have also experience this problem with Jeep 3. 7 and 4. 7 powertech Jeep motors. Our Jeep is a 3. 7 motor. This appears to be the same problem as Jeep experienced with Jeep commander and Jeep grand cherokee models, which were recalled. This situation can obviously be life threatening. Chrysler Jeep should not be allowed to put life treating vehicles on the market and these Jeeps must be recalled. We ask for your help in this matter before someone is seriously injured.

66 Steering problem of the 2004 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 06/02/2016

I have had the front lower ball joints replaced twice on my 2004 Jeep liberity. I was driving both timed it has happened costing me tow and repair costs. I feel I should have been notified about the dangerous safety recall on this vehicle. I am now after leaning that it aldo hssv12 recalls and safety issues including the gas tank andvsudpention and stability of my vehicle am afraid to evin drive it out if concern for mine and others safety. I am a 62 year old fudablrd woman and need this vehicle fixed and brought up to daftey standards. Pleadebtell me what and where to do to get issues resolved. Thank you.

67 Steering problem of the 2004 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 02/24/2016

On my 2004 Jeep Liberty I have had the lower front ball joints replace a few years back by the f23 recall. This week as I was replacing upper control arms, which come pre assembled with the ball joint, I noticed the boots for the lower ball joints were again damaged. I also noticed that there is a loud noise when going over unsmooth surface roads, etc. I am thinking this could be caused by the rear upper control arm. Now I'm not a professional mechanic, but common sense tells me that the engineering on the suspension has been compromised. I contacted Chrysler, who told me to contact a dealer, who told me they would get back to me on this problem. I also experienced multiple window regulator problems, along with recalls on the air bags system as well as gas tank protection recalls.

68 Steering problem of the 2004 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 12/26/2015

Front passenger side, lower ball joint has failed (again) even after replaced by recall # 06v288000. . . Taking a left hand turn on a city street and it blew out, thankfully I was able to pull over into a bus stop. Dealership is refusing to cover them under warranty. Nhtsa action number :ea06008.

69 Steering problem of the 2003 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 12/14/2015

I want my car included in recall j17. My car should have been included in the safety recall "Chrysler recall no. J17", campaign # 09v119000 . I have verified with Chrysler that my car was both built and sold in illinois, and therefore in the target recall population. See following excerpt from recall text: Chrysler is recalling 42,469 my 2002-2003 Jeep Liberty vehicles originally sold in or currently registered in salt belt states of connecticut, delaware, iowa, illinois, indiana, kentucky, massachusetts, maine, maryland, michigan, minnesota, missouri, new hampshire, new jersey, new york, ohio, pennsylvania, rhode island, vermont, virginia, west virginia , wisconsin and the district of columbia. The front suspension upper control arm ball joint may experience a loss of lubrication which could lead to corrosion, accelerated wear, and possible separation while driving.

70 Steering problem of the 2002 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 12/01/2015

After an inspection it was found that my upper control arms & ball joints are no good from mostly corrosion . I have 73000 miles on this truck. Doing re search I find a recall for this exact same problem. The recall states that this problem is registration specific to salt belt usage. Again I qualify for that part as well. The recall is j 17 and in calling Jeep there telling me about the VIN but not about the salt belt state useage . The arms do not corrode in fla but they do in NY . The ball joint and arm need replacement this is clearly a manufacture defect of the part exposed to salt. Calling Jeep is worthless called nhsta same result.
