1 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2021

Filled gasoline up and had car idle while driving. Had to place car in park, turn ignition off and back on to get it to turn back on. This happened two times and happens everytime I fill up gas in car. Other Patriots have reported same issue and I have been very close to accidents due to this.

2 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2017

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Patriot. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle lost power in the middle of the road, and the shifter locked up without warning. The contact waited approximately five minutes and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who advised that there was a recall. The mechanic referred the contact to the dealer who stated that there was no recall. The failure recurred several times. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The contact was referred to NHTSA to file a complaint. The failure was not remedied. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

3 Power Train problem

4 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2015

Stalls out, gas tank won't fill up, the cvt transmission has almost killed us more than once. Can't go over 40 without it overheating and whining.

5 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2015

Was driving two hours away for a medical appointment, and was just driving in the right lane. I was passing a vehicle in the left lane and had no power at all. The high pitch wine came from under the hood and the rpm were redlining at 65 mph. The transmission would not shift and the Jeep just slowed on its own. The temperature light for the transmission came on. Pulling over to the median almost killed my husband and I. This is a dangerous vehicle to drive and go over 50mph. We had to sit on interstate 64 for an hour to let the transmission cool down. Something needs to be done before someone is killed from their transmission stalling or overheating going down an interstate, or just driving for any period of time on a highway. We do not fee safe in this 2007 Jeep with only 70,000 miles on it. The transmission has already been replaced once and we were not even told that by the dealership!!! seriously deadly problem. . . . . Fix the cvt transmission. The dealership said we are sol even though we haven't owned it 9 days and now we are paying for a car we cannot drive or fix!.

6 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2015

My car's manual transmission died at 115,000 miles. I've had this car a year and am still paying it off. Now I have to pay another $4,400 to get my transmission replaced. I've been told by several repair shops and the dealer that I bought it from that this is a common problem between 90,000-100,000 miles with this transmission. Not only that, but the part that fails is permanent so you have to replace the whole thing and it's very spendy. Be very careful when purchasing used 2007 Jeep Patriots. You will probably have the same problem as I did. Very disappointed.

7 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2015

Going to town driving between 45mph and 50mph and the front tires stop turning and skid to a stop. Therefore causing my head face to strike the steering well resulting in a bleeding nose and a bruised chest.

8 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2014

Vehicle was running fine, got off the highway to a stop light. When I hit the accelerator, vehicle shook, then began moving at a speed of 1 mph. . .

9 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2013

On 09/17/13 at 0858 hours, I was driving my 2007 Jeep Patriot on the I-17 frontage road when the vehicle began to lose power steering. Prior to the loss of power, I was travelling northbound on an even concrete surface at approximately 50 mph in normal traffic conditions. When the vehicle began to "act up," the light for my electronic stability control turned on and the esc became active and my check engine light began to blink amber. Due to esc, my vehicle was extremely difficult to control (once again this was on an even, paved surface with no conditions requiring the esc to activate). Along with the esc becoming active, my vehicle began to stall and lose power. My engine would peak at a mere 2000k rpm and at about twenty miles per hour. Thankfully I was only on a frontage road and was able to quickly pull into an industrial area, however, if I was on I-17 (which does not have a shoulder) I would have been in great danger. Once stopped, I had to stop/start my engine four times for the esc and check engine light to deactivate. Once they did the vehicle operated normally. I took the vehicle to Jeep dealership in north phoenix to see what was wrong with the vehicle. They advised it returned a "torque request signal denied" historical code for when the incident occurred, which "doesn't make any sense. " I believe the above incident is related to two events that happen on 9/14/13. During two separate right turns the vehicle began to stall through a turn only to jolt and regain power.

10 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2012

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Patriot 4x4. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the vehicle independently decelerated to 45 mph without warning. The vehicle was previously taken to the dealer for the failure where the contact was advised that there was a possible defect with the bearings. The vehicle was not repaired however, the failure recurred. The contact then notified the manufacturer but they offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 48,000 and the current mileage was 70,000.

11 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2011

I have a 2007 Jeep Patriot with just over 60,000 miles on it. I was driving when I heard rumbling under my hood. I pulled over to find that my engine was knocking really loud. I pulled the dipstick after a few minutes to make sure there was oil in the car. Yes, there was an appropriate amount of oil. I change my oil every 3,000 miles and have always taken exceptional care of my vehicle per the manufacturer's specification. I had to have the vehicle towed to my mechanic who informs me that the engine needs to be replaced. After 60,000 miles the engine is shot? he can't offer an explanation of how or why this happened. I even called two Jeep dealerships and each service manager was very surprised to hear of an engine failure this early.

12 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2010

My 2007 Jeep Patriot 4wd classic has been stalling out on me constantly. Since I've purchased the vehicle I have experienced upwards of 5 full stall-outs at stop lights or stop signs and upwards of 50 surge like motions (feeling like it's close to stalling out on me) at stop lights and stop signs. Usually me and my passengers can feel it and as soon as I give it some gas the surge stops and everything is fine or the vehicle stalls completely. It sickens me to be paying for this fairly new vehicle and it's doing this.

13 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2010

Jeep 2007, standard. During an oil change told control arms and front ball joints worn , will need to replace them! have 47,000 miles on the Jeep; am a conservative driver. Tires are worn; have always pulled to the side. Shifting is horrible; slips into other gears. This SUV is less than 3 years old. I have had nothing but problems with this vehicle. The Jeep is a danger, unsafe, and should be off the market. In 2007 the Patriot was not popular. The economy has led people to purchase this vehicle, my guess is that more complaints will be filed when their Jeeps reach two years old.

14 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2007

Started as accelerator "flat spot. "under very light acceleration (intermittent)engine will fail to respond and sometimes stay at a low rpm or stall. I have to release pedal and reapply or restart the engine. Now problem is more obvious with rain causing rough engine idle, erratic idle speed and engine stall.
