4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2019

My 2009 Jeep Patriot won't crank. It turns on randomly. I am not sure what the problem is. New battery. No chip on keys.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2018

Dome light leaking water when rain or snow, leaving seats, car floor mats drenched. Had to replace radio three times and it smells like something burning.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2018

"takata recall" ever since I purchased this vehicle it has been slow to accelerate. The transmission slips every now and then if I accelerate to quickly after the car was in park. When at highway speed, sometimes the car needs to be shut off in other for it to shift in gear properly again. The check engine light stays on for tcm control no matter what I do. There has to be something defective in connection with the power train.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/24/2017

The heater core is clogging not letting antifreeze thru heater core has clogged numerous times. We have had to replace it, flush it, etc. In our vehicle, it blows warm/hot on drivers side but as you cross over vehicle it blows cold on passenger side. This is an expensive repair and shop has said this seems to be a design problem causing metal bits to collect and build up and block up the heater core. Something is causing blockage. This has occurred over the last several years. The last time it was replaced was in 2015. I opted not to have it replaced again this time until we figure out the cause. Please note that the service tech checked the blend door, the thermostat, and flushed the heater core. He said the heater core needs replacing again. This is almost $800 again on this part. I spoke with Chrysler Jeep to make sure it is documented but not sure what they do with this information. During the conversation their people were saying different things regarding how they monitor problems with vehicles and/or parts. To ensure that this defect is reported I am filing a complaint with the NHTSA. I would like for them to research what is causing this problem so that it does not occur in the future as well as if it becomes apparent that their is a design flaw or other in the heater core system or engine that proper action is taken. Be it recall or other.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2016

Sub frame rotted through. Efecting right suspention not driveable. Happend when drving city streets had to pull in to nearest garage.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2016

While performing other work on my 2009 Patriot the mechanic discovered the "k" frame crossmember rusted out. This crossmember holds much of the vehicles suspension. This is a danger since this could eventually corrode enough to completely fail or buckle while driving. There certainly should not be this level of corrosion in a 2009 model car frame. This is a garage kept car from michigan.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2015

Every time it rains outside water leaks threw the map lights like a running faucet.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2015

My abs, esp bas, and traction control lights went on on my dash showing that my vehicles safety features are disabled. I had just had the sensor module that controls these lights replaced back in December 2015 at an expense of $1266. Now 7 months later and 6000 miles later the system is not working again. The dealership will not cover the repairs again under warranty and claim I will have to pay again to have the repairs made. Who know how long this repair would last as the Jeep parts are obviously defective and their are many more complaints on-line about them. There is no doubt that there are a lot of Jeep owners driving around with their safety controls disabled because they can not afford these costly repairs. . . Or can not afford to pay for them more then once! Jeep should have to honor these repairs under warranty or recall the defective parts before someone gets killed!.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2015

This vehicle has been parked indoors for many years. Now I park it outside. It leaks heavily after a rain through the dome light fixture and the head liner, this internal leak can short out the electrical system. This vehicle has a sunroof.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2015

Whenever it trains my car leaks either from the top of the windshield on through the map light it is very bad I normally keep towels in the car to catch the water because it has short-circuited my console it takes time for my console to work it goes in and out or sometimes it takes about a week to work again and I don't like driving at that point because nothing comes on it has caused water stains on the roof inside the car and there is a mildew smell I have heard other owners complain about the same thing I will most likely have to replace my whole console I think this problem is very dangerous please fix it. It even leaks when I go through a carwash.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2014

This vehicle is total junk. I just replaced the under carriage that holds the engine up because it rusted out. This should not rust out for the lifetime of a vehicle. In addition, I have replaced the transmission, the alternator, the starter and the ball joints twice. The second time I replaced the ball joints was due to the under carriage rusting out. This vehicle is 5 years old and does not have 100,000 miles on it. I have repeatedly complained about this car to deaf ears even though the service tech at the dealership told me that he has replaced several alternators and under carriages on this vehicle, Chrysler Jeep does not acknowledge a defect. The under carriage is a safety hazard because if it breaks the driver will lose control of the steering. I firmly believe the Jeep Patriot is manufactured with inferior parts and Chrysler Jeep should recall these vehicles for the under carriage. I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone. I have put over $4000. 00 in major repairs into this car.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/22/2014

There is a horrible leak from the front dome light fixture when driving in the rain. Water pours out from the fixture as you are driving. Pours. Seems to be a very common issue with Jeep Patriots, and Jeep refuses to acknowledge that there is a problem. I've seen many complaints for this exact problem on many web sites about this specific issue, and the common theme is that Jeep doesn't know how to repair the problem, and won't acknowledge that this is a common problem with this model.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/18/2014

I was slowing down as I approached a light when my Jeep Patriot stalled in traffic. After putting the car in park I was able to restart it.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2014

My car started making a whining noise and had problems with acceleration, like the gears were finding it hard to lock in properly. It's an automatic transmission. After the snowstorms, I took it to a chain franchise to check it out and was told that Jeep put a mercedes transmission in the car, that it's not meant for this make or model, that it's a defect because the pump wore out and that Jeep will not pay to replace/repair and that even though the car is under 50,000, that I have to pay close to four thousand dollars to repair/replace. The mechanic at the chain franchise said that this part just wore out because it wasn't intended to be used in the mechanics for this car.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2013

Jeep is leaking water through the front map light, sunroof, "a" pillars, and rear interior hatch light. Service was performed on 10-8-2013 and the water leak started again on 03-24-2014. Chrysler did issue a service bulletin #23-016-10 on September 10, 2010 but no recall was issued. There is water accumulating inside the pillar's and I concerned with the safety air bags and mold issues.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2012

Water was leaking from the front dome light and rear and front driver's floor bed was soaked with water. The vehicle has a sunroof and we have read about many people having this same problem. Contacted Jeep vehicle was 2 months out of warranty and they refused to do anything. Told us to take it to a Jeep dealer and get it fixed ourselves. Many people have done this multiples times and their cars still leak. Jeep is still leaking on the floor beds. They are soaked on driver's side. It doesn't even have to rain and just the dew on the car causes the floor to be wet. We fear electrical damage that can cause fault of vehicle resulting in injury, mold, and rusting out. Something needs to be done about this!.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2011

Numerous leaks in car after rains - even small rains. Water comes in though map lights and drains down front console. Have read that Jeep knows about and will not correct problem. Will try to creal drain tubes ourselves and see if this fixes problem. Causes problems to electrical system, engine light comes on and car alarm will start going off.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2010

During an overnight rain, water enterered the vehicle from the sunroof, effecting the dome light, where water was dripping from. This has occured several times throughout the years. Each time the dealer claims to have fixed it. It reoccurs about every 10 mos. ,after a heavy rainfall. It causes mold and mildew on the roof liner, which is unhealthy, and water through the dome light, can easily cause a short and possible fire. This should be on the recall list, but as of yet no action has been taken. It is my understanding that many complaints on this issue have been filed, by owners of the Patriot as well as other Jeep vehicles.
