I just purchased this car from a car lot with unknown issues sure enough a few weeks in I start to notice the jerking when I press the breaks and the hesitation to start as well and steering and noises coming from under the hood that auto shops could not figure out the reasoning behind. I need answered. I believe this car should have been on the recall list. There has to have been some king of mistake not putting it on there.
Transmission.
Tl the contact owns a 2009 Jeep Patriot. While driving 60-70 mph, the engine lost power, the vehicle decelerated, and the contact lost control of the brakes. Additionally, the transmission would not move into gear and the vehicle remained stationary on the shoulder. The throttle, fill cap, and check engine warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, but the test could not read the codes. The vehicle was not repaired. Days later, the failures recurred. The vehicle was taken to daystar Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (330-863-1144, located at 206 s carrollton st, malvern, OH 44644) where it was diagnosed that hard braking locked the brake pedal and caused it to stick to the floor. The failure mileage was approximately 77,000.
After filling up the fuel tank the engine will stall while driving. Lose acceleration, power steering and power brakes. Have to pull over and turn off the car and turn it back on. Engine light comes on dashboard. Major safety issue, loose control of the vehicle in traffic.

The contact depressed the accelerator pedal and the vehicle failed to accelerate, but the rpms remained at 5. There were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was not repaired at that time. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.
Problem with antilock brakes: all the lights on the dash are on. They intermittently go off, but mostly they stay on. Problem with transmission/engine: when I drive, the Jeep stalls out. This has occurred on the highway, so fast speed, as well as on side streets. Both of these issues are ongoing, have been happening off and on since I bought the Jeep.
When I fill up my gas tank to full, within a mile of leaving the gas station the car completely stalls while driving. The steering and the breaks lock up and I have no control of the car. I have to put the car in neutral and turn it on and off to start working again. This is very unsafe and dangerous while driving! this recently started to happen on a car with minimal miles on it.
The contact owns a 2009 Jeep Patriot. While being serviced for the brakes and rotors, the independent mechanic determined that the cradle, bolt joints, and tie rods were severely rusted and needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 91,000.
Brought my vehicle for brakes and inspection and received a call from the garage saying I needed to replace all 4 ball joints. They said the left front one was extremely loose and barely hanging on. I researched the web and found many incidents of bad ball joints on this vehicle with an explanation from local dealer shops that there was a bad batch installed initially. The repairs cost me over $700 because the 3 year warranty had run out even though the mileage is still within range. Jeep knows its an issue and hasn't responded with a safety recall. Are they just waiting until an accident happens with death resulting before they act?.
