Air Bag Not Deploy problems of the 2011 Jeep Patriot

1 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2017

On may 18th 2017 my daughter had a crash that resulted in her death while driving her 2011 Jeep Patriot. She ran of of a fm road, jumped a small drainage culvert on a downgrade. Continued straight and hit another drainage culvert a little larger with cement around it on an upgrade with the passenger side front tire. On the other side of the culvert was a stop sign at an intersection. The stop side broke off damaging the windshield and roof on the passenger side. Then the vehicle continued into a private yard where the Jeep came to rest. The Jeep has a standard transmission and was found in 5th gear. A parametric lived close by and attended to her right away but was unable to revive her. The side curtain airbags both deployed and her seat belt locked although when the seat belt locked is not known. The front air bag did not deploy. This vehicle is involved in an incomplete recall without remedy pertaining to the occupant restraint system dated September 13th 2016. Fca recall s61. Nhtsa recall number 16v-668.

2 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2017

Takata recall. The contact owned a 2011 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that while driving at any speed down a hill and during a sleet storm, the brake pedal was applied but failed to stop the vehicle. As a result, the vehicle crashed into a telephone pole head on. The air bags failed to deploy. The vehicle was towed. The vehicle was destroyed. A police report was filed. No injuries were sustained. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

3 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2016

The contact owned a 2011 Jeep Patriot. While making a right turn, the contact crashed into a telephone pole. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained a concussion, a two inch contusion to the forehead, and bruising of the face, neck, and shoulders. Medical attention was received. The vehicle was towed to a junk yard and deemed destroyed. The failure mileage was unknown.

4 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2016

The contact owned a 2011 Jeep Patriot. While driving approximately 45 mph in the rain, the vehicle skid off the road. The vehicle crashed into a tree and landed in a ditch. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained arm, chest, leg, and forehead injuries that did not require medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the driver's residence and later towed to an insurance lot. The vehicle was destroyed. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v668000 (air bags, seat belts). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.

5 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 06/26/2015

The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 mph, a vehicle came across from the opposite lane and crashed into the front driver side of the contact's vehicle, the air bags failed to deploy and the seat belt pretensioners failed. A police report was filed. The contact sustained injuries and required medical attention. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic with the diagnoses unknown. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.

6 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2014

Tl-the contact owns a 2011 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, the contact experienced a heart attack and crashed into a house. The air bags failed to deploy and the contact sustained fractured ribs, spine and nose and medical attention was required. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed in the crash. The manufacturer was not made aware. The contact did not receive any recall notification. The failure mileage was unknown. Nw.

7 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2013

Driver left road, proceeded over a short grassy area, up into trees, hit a tree head on /right side, then rolled to the left down an embankment. The left side air bags did not deploy. Injuries included traumatic brain injury. The recall notice for side air bags arrived by mail a few days later. We can supply mileage on car later but probably under 15,000 miles.

8 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2013

The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Patriot. The contact was driving approximately 60 mph and fell asleep behind the wheel. As a result, the contact crashed into a guard rail. The vehicle went airborne over a bridge and crashed 30 feet under the bridge, on the driver's side. The air bags failed to deploy during impact. The contact sustained no personal injury. A police report was filed of the incident. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to a savage facility. The manufacturer was not notified of the malfunction. The failure mileage was unavailable.
