general problems of the 2014 Jeep Patriot - part 1

Throttle body light keeps coming on. Dealer states it is pcm issue.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Patriot. While the contact’s daughter was driving at approximately 55 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost motive power and decelerated unintendedly. During the failure, the power steering, brake assist, and the check engine warning lights illuminated. The driver was able to coast to the side of the road, where the vehicle was turned off. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was towed and after approximately 30 - 40 minutes, the vehicle was restarted. The contact became aware of NHTSA campaign number: 15v115000 (electrical system); online, which indicated a similar failure and that the totally integrated power module (tipm-7) might fail, causing the vehicle to stall without warning. The make and model year was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.

My engine light and traction light and red lightning bolt light is on and it’s making the vehicle run really hard and shake and almost stall out and won’t go over 20 miles per hour.

Vehicle at random engage in breaks. This was the problem from day one and is now. I think someone need to be hold accountable for this automatic crap. This is goings-on problem in last 3 vehicle I had. Rustay wearing / display random images on the dashboard. No abs or traction control. This is dangerous when driving, making car unstable on some occasion. Deler refuse to sell me vehicle! please tell me how I can get legal exemption from all electronics I do not need and endanger my live. One more federal law requires mechanical speed limit to be 85mph. Where can I get car that is safe to drive at rinsible price?.

The front turn signals fail continuously as the turn signal units leak and fill with water causing the bulbs to short out. I called one dealer in the past and was told they were not covered by my warranty due to my vehicle's age, it's a 2014. The cost to repair is expensive as you have to access the turn signal unit through the front wheel wells to change the bulbs. The bulbs are inexpensive but the labor is costly due to the labor required. I have had to replace bulbs once every 12-18 months due to this problem. Most recent failures are detailed below, once agin both turn signals have failed.

No warning lights have appeared; after an oil change, the technician said there is some oil seepage; at start up, the vehicle smells like gas and clicks and start up. The fumes are overwhelming at times. Off and on driving the vehicle clicks 2-4 times then stops. No warning lights are illuminating. Driving normal when I lost control of the throttle Jeep went into limp mode, the etc , traction control, and check engine lights came on, got a uo4o1 code, if I was on the interstate could have been bad when it went into limp mode, the electronic throttle control was bad.

Lightning bolt symbol, check engine light and traction control lights came on and vehicle went into limp mode while taking my 3 yr old to pre school. Scans say vacuum leak/throttle body. This is a recurrent problem with these cars and has had recalls on certain ones. Almost didnt make it where I was going. . . Needs to be addresses on this model too. My car only has 76,721 miles.

While driving multiple warning lights on the dashboard come on. At times the vehicle will stall and I have to wait 10-15 minutes before it will restart. At times the anti-theft system will wngage causing all interior components and dash lights to go out, I then have to pull over , disconnect the battery and pull the ignition fuse to reset the anti-theft system, after waiting approximately 15 minutes the vehicle will start and operate normally. While driving at times the vehicle will suddenly jerk very hard feeling like I hit a large speed bump, the warning lights on the dash will all come on briefly and the vehicle will resume driving normally. At times the vehicle stalls while idling. While driving with the accelerator pressed the fog lights will flash and the inerior fan will blow at a decreased speed, once the accelerator is released the fog lights glow normally and the interior fan will blow correctly until the vehicle slows below 18 mph at which time the interior fan will again decrease in functioning. This also affects the adapter and charging of my phone as it will not charge properly while plugged into the aux adapter. I believe there is some sort of electrical malfunction. I have replaced the vehicles ecm and crankshaft position sensor, and I am considering replacing the throttle position sensor and throttle pedal assembly. There are no active recalls listed for this vehicle at this time, although any one of these issues could potentially cause an accident with injuries especially on wet or icy road conditions, and given this vehicle is front wheel drive the temporary jolting from whatever is causing the vehicle issues could potentially cause a lose of control resulting in an accident. It should be noted that all of these issues began at approximately the same time period, and after reading through otgher complaints it would appear that there is some sort of significant electrical malfunction in these vehicles. The electronic throttle body has failed 3 times in 3 years. Each time it caused issued with the traction control, stability control, and precrash systems and others that require torque management, causing us to pull and making it unsafe to drive. . 2014 Jeep Patriot bought: 1/10/2015 | electronic throttle body assembly (Chrysler) first replaced/purchased: $385 1/19/2021 | warranty replacement: August 2021 | purchased replacement (techsmart/standard motor products): $494. 88 4/14/2022.

Vehicle occasionally makes a clicking sound in the dash by steering column. Only lasts few seconds. Happens when you either use key fob to unlock door (not even in vehicle yet) or when you start vehicle. Vehicle is usually not running when this happens. Also, several times my headlights came on for no reason the past few weeks draining the battery. Keys were hanging up in house when it happened!.

The "gate" light will come on and off and so will the all the lights in the vehicle and it will do it off and on. I am not paying to fix it. I never had a problem with it before and I've had this Jeep for almost a year. I was in a hit and run in August and my Jeep didn't do this until I got it back about a week afterwards.

I have to protest to call stability control to be safe device. In over 120 000 miles on the tiers I replaced if remember right: 6 sets of breaks sets, 5 new new rotors, 2 calipers breaks assemble, front house breaks line. Driving on the straight highway the vehicle soddenly engage the breaks at random. Some time making me see sick. I remember driving 60 miles an hour the brakes engage nearly pushed me in to another car. Recently travel to mouton regain. The breaks slowing me down. For no know cause. I noticed danger pater too. When I make a turn in the winding road, the car is getting extremely dangers. The car braking down when I intend to accelerate. This collision of interest resulting my transmission is down steps good, the rpm go to extreme. First from 1,500 race to 2000 then 3000 then 5000 slowing down the car. When finely breaks are released it kick like a mule trying to force me of the route. Don't know way any one need that tip of traction control?. This is my second vehicle in the row, that have computer problem to. Random action on in and out components. The last one doge acclaim forced to trade in because computer replacement did not solved problem, I tested abs breaks on slow speed. It was only a test 10 mils an hour. I end up I ditch. It was a winter snow. Only a test, miner damage to plastic fender. Is it passable to return to regular breaks, that work. The engine control unit prohibit that action sanction by state inspection. ( no inspection can be pass when warning light is on). Can any way I can get replacement for: generic computer? generic breaks system? maybe I can get waive for installation of that system? The dashboard starting on the passenger side all the way over to the steering column caught fire and melted the entire dashboard. I parked my car around 9pm and went back out around 11:30pm to get something out and found my dashboard completely melted. I was told by the fire company that because the windows were all closed tightly the fire smothered itself. I had to have it towed to the body shop and they called and told me it was an electrical fire. My car was totaled.

My vehicle tend to jump gears and transmission is running hard and would not get up to 40 miles a hour.

When I am driving on the freeway or street the car seems that wants to stop and feel that is loosing power; than it does like a jumper and keep going and it has happened many times. The dealer seems that do not find anything. Also the back door of the car keep getting lock and not able to open.

I was driving with my 2 small children home when out of no where my check engine light came on, my "lightning bolt light" came on and my "fish tail" light came on then my engine stalled in middle of the road. Thankfully we were not on a busy road. But I normally am driving the interstate for work. (I work with people with disabilities, including having them in my vehicle. ) the code is letting me know the throttle body control is bad. I looked up recalls and 2014 Jeep Patriots have this recall. But my VIN specifically does not. Therefore I'm not sure if a dealership will cover it. It could have been a devastating accident if we had been on a busy road.

Electronic throttle control light began to go off. Rpms were running higher than normal. After the sensor triggered twice, no problems other than rmps running high. 5 days after the initial warning light, upon stopping at a traffic light and resuming acceleration, check engine came on, then electronic throttle control, then traction control. This continued to happen every time the car had to decelerate or stop and the rpms dropped below 1. At one point, it stalled. I had to pull over, stop the car and restart it. If you were driving on a highway with continuous gas there wasn't a problem. The diagnostic repair is the throttle body housing needs to be replaced.

Wow, just wow!! all the complaints on the 2014 Jeep Patriot. Mine is at the Jeep dealership getting a new throttle body kit. (600$$). . . . I am not sure if I ever want to drive it again after what happened to me. Lost power and all the lights came on in s curves on a rural road. . . Had to creep at 10 miles and hour hoping to get off the road. No recalls are crazy considering all the complaints.

While driving on the highway with air condition running. I hear an electrical sound that reminds me of a remote control car. My Jeep then proceeds to overheat and stalls while I'm driving . I have to sit on the side of the road for 15-20 minutes then try to drive again . This has happened multiple times most recently memorial weekend 2019. I have taken my Jeep to the dealership but they say they can not find anything wrong.

Airbag light on and off. Limp mode turning on. Car going from 45 mph to 15 mph.

The exhaust manifolds seem to be cracking in the same place. But the most popular issues is the red lightning bolt- check engine light(u0401)- and the traction controlf lights come on the dash and the car is stuck in "limp mode" and everyone is saying on Jeeps site that its the throttle body and then some still have problems after that. I saw online there is a recall for the breaks, the engine in 2013, and the airbags and seat belt on the passenger side but I go to all the official sites and when I use my VIN the only recall is for the seatbelt. Please help.

My car isn't even 5 years old and the lightening bolt comes on and my car slows down in the middle of highway traffic. It takes at least two tries to turn the car on before it actually starts and now in the middle of driving on the highway the lightening bolt comes on and the check engine light came on. The car will jerk and won't go more than 35 and won't respond to accelerating. This is unbelievable and shouldn't be happening with a car less than 5 years old.

I took the car to have a diagnostic test done and it said the throttle body control and my car loses power without notice.

I have the same exact problem as everyone else. The throttle lightning bolt flashes, car wont shift or do more than 35. It wont respond to accelerating. It jerks all over the place when at a low speed. I went off of the road in the snow but was ok. When it first started it kicked into a lower gear, jerked and the car slid. You are going to get people killed ignoring this and now here is written proof that you have been warned. Do hear that, Chrysler? because youre about to.

I've had 3 fuel pumps replaced and countless times my car hasn't started just because like now, which brought me here. This needs a recall immediately but every time I look there isn't one. I bought this car brand new in 2014 and it still only has 45,539 miles on it. A week ago I started my car & then it turned off. Luckily I was at I've already had to replace the throttle body so with all of this we need a recall.

My car is not starting. This is the third time this year that I had to bring it in to the dealership. The red bolt goes on last two times and I was on the road driving and it slowed down. This time it won't work. I took it to dealership twice already and it's less than two months apart. Third time happening now.
