1 Seats problem

Failure Date: 08/21/2025

Headrest safety device deployed without a rear-end accident, while driving, did not hurt driver. Can not put headrest back into place scared driver.

2 Seats problem

Failure Date: 04/14/2025

Passenger headrest "deployed" due to the plastic housing for the pin broke.

3 Seats problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2024

Passenger side headrest deployed while parked and plastic pieces fell out.

4 Seats problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2024

The headrest deployed over night while sitting in the garage. There is a plastic piece that keeps the headrest from deploying. That piece is under 75 pounds of pressure and will eventually break. I have read of several people that had the same thing happen to them. Some deployed overnight while parked in their driveway or garage. I read where one person said his deployed while driving and hit him in the back of the head. He said he was lucky that he didn't hit anyone. The Jeep corporation knows about this flaw but refuses to issue a recall.

5 Seats problem

Failure Date: 06/29/2024

While parked the passenger side head rest opened up exposing the air bag ect stuff.

6 Seats problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2023

The passenger-side active headrest on my 2016 Jeep Patriot deployed randomly while I was driving. There was no warning prior to the incident. The plastic surrounding the pin broke away and caused the front cushion of the headrest to spring forward. If someone had been sitting in the passenger seat, they could have been struck in the back of the head, and if the driver's seat were to deploy in this manner, it could have caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The headrest has not been inspected by a dealer or service center, but the cause is clearly visible. The problem occurred suddenly and without warning.

7 Seats problem

Failure Date: 01/21/2023

The clips that hold the active headrest together broke and the headrest sprung forward. It cannot be reset closed because of the broken pieces. This car has never been in an accident of any kind.

8 Seats problem

Failure Date: 12/02/2021

Headrest on passenger side of car. We drove it and parked it in the garage. We got up the next morning and the headrest had deployed. Nobody was in the vehicle. If someone had been in the passenger seat they would have been injured. We took it to a car repair site, when they looked at it they said they don't know how that could have happened as we were not in an accident. We sent an email to Jeep and are waiting for a response. We had no warnings of anything being wrong and we have not any recall bulletins or service bulletins.

9 Seats problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2021

While driving down the highway the head rest deployed on the driver side. There was no rear ended accident or anything like a warning, it just went off. I’ve seen that this has happened to a lot of Jeep vehicles and this is extremely dangerous. Someone else was driving my car and hit them in the beck of the head very hard. Thankfully nothing serious came from this such as, us crashing since the highway we were driving on speed limit was 75mph. It’s not fixable at home and should be recalled ASAP as it’s extremely expensive to get this fixed as well as extremely dangerous to randomly go off while driving!!.

10 Seats problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2021

Random deployment of passenger seat avr. Vehicle was stationary and unoccupied.

11 Seats problem

Failure Date: 12/26/2020

On 12/26/2020 I was driving down the interstate and my son lightly touched his headrest and it exploded open. I didn't realize at the time it was covered under the "x-86" extended warranty, and attempted in January 2021 to buy a replacement. Mopar canceled my order and told me to go through the dealership since it is a known issue. I did just that, and the order has been on hold since January or February of 2021. Chrysler customer service doesn't have a resolution for me, and won't talk to me anymore. Their department that specifically deals with this "x-86" issue won't even call or update my dealership stew hansen's, which is located at 12103 hickman rd, urbandale, IA 50323. I am appalled and just want my headrest replacement. The parts manager found one in stock, but coincidentally it doesn't have the correct part number that Chrysler wants to honor to fix this for me. Chrysler is unwilling to make an exception for the part number and rectify this defective part. I want answers now. Please note that I have gotten married since this incident, and the dealership has my case filed under my maiden name weis, not mcdowell.

12 Seats problem

Failure Date: 01/22/2018

The system that monitors whether a passenger is in the passenger seat malfunctions and causes the seatbelt to show unbuckled therefore turning the airbag off in case of an accident. This specific piece of equipment has been recalled on similar vehicles in the same year but my VIN was not selected and my dealership wanted me to pay in order to fix it because it was a safety risk.
