There is a horrible leak from the front dome light fixture when driving in the rain. Water pours out from the fixture as you are driving. Pours. Seems to be a very common issue with Jeep Patriots, and Jeep refuses to acknowledge that there is a problem. I've seen many complaints for this exact problem on many web sites about this specific issue, and the common theme is that Jeep doesn't know how to repair the problem, and won't acknowledge that this is a common problem with this model.

Water leaked from map lights. Leaked onto radio, center console. Only way to stop leak was to seal sunroof. Now water is leaking from rear some lights. I gorilla glued the joints and hinges on the tailgates and plastic roof mount. Was unsuccessful to stop leak. Water causing major damage to interior.
Bought a used Jeep Patriot 2008. My Jeep is garage kept, but when I am at work, and it rains, the sunroof leaks. I did some research online and I see that is a common problem. Just wanted my vehicle added to let them know my sunroof leaks.

I recently bought a 2008 Jeep Patriot in florida and got on the highway to go head home to mississippi the day after purchase and experienced a problem with the vehicle. I picked up speed in the vehicle and noticed it started to make a noise so I slowed down. I picked up speed again and the vehicle was making the noise and slowing down once again. I tried to pick up speed again and the car been to slow all the way down only going about 40 to 50 mph. Then I noticed a light come on. I was on the highway and the car would not go any faster than 40 to 60 mph I then pulled over. I looked under the hood there was no smoke and didn't look to be any overheating and the car was not hot. I waited a while drove to mississippi took it to a Chrysler Jeep dealership and was told it was the transmission.
The sunroof leaks. I take it to the dealer, they say they can 'fix' it. They blow out the drain lines. That does not fix it, within a few months it is blocked/kinked again. Why does the water drip through the window seal anyway? seems that is what needs fixing. I have had to replace the radio-$550. 00-and every time they blow out the drain lines, it is $35. 00. This is my 5th and last Jeep product. It is parked in a garage all day at work and all night at home. What would the problem be like if I parked it under trees? now the map lights don't work from the water damage, and yes, I know, it is past warranty-in the beginning, you think you left it open a crack, or it is cold and something is frozen, and then the dealer says they can 'fix' the problem. And now, finally, I am realizing this is a design flaw-I googled it, and I am among thousands of people with this problem. Chrysler needs to fix this issue.
Sunroof leaks badly causing water to pour out of dome light and other places. Leaving everything water soaked and musty smelling. Can not be good for electrical wiring. Their has to be something done about this too many complaints and on many different years of Jeeps. I cannot believe they just keep making them and getting by with so many vehicles still all have the same problem. Someone could get hurt really bad if it causes a fire. Something needs done.
For the past two years any time it rains or snows when I get in my Jeep the first time the break is touch water pours from the dome light like a waterfall stream it is staining the interior it is trashing the car I cannot get it to stop what is the worst thing.
After snow melts or heavy rain the rear dome light fills with water & leaks on to floor.
A year ago, I brought my 2011 Jeep Patriot to a car wash. The sunroof was closed, however while going through the car wash, water started pouring through the sunroof and the light fixtures, instantly causing an electrical short and damaging the roof liner and the car stereo. I immediately brought the vehicle to the local Jeep dealership. They kept my car for two days and called me to explain that "the car had dried out so you can come pick it up. " I told them that I was hesitant to pick the car up because there would surely be additional damage that would need to be investigated. When I picked up my car the stereo and lights still did not work. Frustrated, I called the Jeep corporate customer service line. The representative explained to me that Jeeps were not meant to be taken into car washes. I asked her how Jeep can manufacture off-road vehicles that cannot be washed. She replied that I could get a bucket and hand wash my vehicle. I decided to take my car to an out-of-state dealership . They had it for several days and called to tell me there was nothing wrong with it and I could pick it up. Once again, I picked up the vehicle and the lights and stereo still did not work. Out of frustration, I gave up on the issue for awhile until I was driving down the highway and water started pouring through the sunroof and fixtures once again- distracting my driving because water is pouring everywhere. I promptly brought my vehicle back in to the local dealership. They called and told me they found a piece of painter's tape in the sunroof from some recent painting to my car I had done. I approached the paint shop with no reply. Today, the car started leaking through the sunroof and fixtures causing water to stream down the inside of the windshield, limiting my vision while driving. My car is still not fixed because Jeep is unwilling to acknowledge that there is a problem.

My daughter called and said all of here lights were out both inside and outside Jeep. Windshield wipers did not work. Basically everything stopped working. She was able to start it and I told her to take it to the Jeep dealer in christianburg va. They checked it out and told her the control arm for the signals lights was broken but could not get a new one until Monday, this was Friday night. I told her to come home very slowly because it was raining. She made it home safely, I checked several Jeep forums and found out if you disconnect the battery and let the computer reboot it would fix the problem. Sure enough it did and saved me hundreds of dollars. Everyone should know this to keep from getting into trouble on the hwy. I have questioned the dealer in richmond about but they say they have never heard anything about it. The problem is there and some people know because they told me how to solve the issue. Please let everyone know about this issue both for safety and wasted money at a dealer.

I purchased a 2009 Jeep Patriot in July of 2013 with 27,000 miles. From the very first hard rain fall the sunroof leaked. For the first few months, due to insufficient rainfall, I thought I had not properly closed the sunroof the few times it leaked. However, soon afterwards it became clear that it was leaking. The water enters my interior roof and trails to the lowest point, my dome lights and screw holes, where it exits onto my dash and radio. My radio has been damaged. I took it to a garage last week and they unstopped the drainage tubes for $224. 00. It did not leak for about a week and then I went out this morning, after a heavy rainfall last night, and it was leaking again! I have found and contacted an attorney who has filed a class action lawsuit against Chrysler for this problem.
Water appears to be leaking through sunroof, with inner dome light filled with water. Potential electrical issue.

I have had multiple incidents where the hazards or blinkers randomly flash on and sometimes there is a brief loss of power.
After snow has melted, the maplight leaks water all over the inside. I'm concerned that there will be wiring issues for the sunroof and the light as well as anything in the dash due to the water going everywhere. Prior issues w/water leaking in the firewall and leaving an inch of water on the drivers floor (3 attempts to get it fixed) resulted in Chrysler paying a portion due to being out of warranty. Water shorted out wires running under the floor for dash lights, anti lock brakes wanted to kick in driving down the road, 4wheel drive woudl not work and the cruise control would not work. Now back to dealing w/water again leaking out the map light, very frustrated and angry!.
I called koon Jeep sales rep, to inform him of the leak through the dome light, wanted know if I were in an accident!
my Jeep corporate case #21660302, I informed my Jeep customer care that I want out of the vehicle, he said I didn’t meet the requirement, refered me to bbb and attorney state general. The suggested process through attorney state general is to write a “certified letter with “signature required. I called corporate asking for mailing address, it could not be provided due to the department handling my case was close and to call back mon. 19th Dec. 2011
I took it in for service, the drain plug was pinched! asked if the hood of car replaced, electrical wiring inspected and electronics, ok?
dealer customer care rep, mike, said yes,
the gps is garbled speech and the vehicle hesitates while pulling off and periodically while driving
at this point I’m searching for legal counsel!.

During an overnight rain, water enterered the vehicle from the sunroof, effecting the dome light, where water was dripping from. This has occured several times throughout the years. Each time the dealer claims to have fixed it. It reoccurs about every 10 mos. ,after a heavy rainfall. It causes mold and mildew on the roof liner, which is unhealthy, and water through the dome light, can easily cause a short and possible fire. This should be on the recall list, but as of yet no action has been taken. It is my understanding that many complaints on this issue have been filed, by owners of the Patriot as well as other Jeep vehicles.
The vehicle leaks at the rear interior light after a period of heavy rain. Vehicle has been brought in for repairs several times. Dealership unable to replicate leak. No repairs made until most recent incident in 1/2013 - light is being replaced and overhead lining is also being replaced. Yet to determine if repairs will fix the issue.
Less than a year from buying the Patriot a severe wayer leakage started from the sunroof, sides and interior light of the Jeep. I literally need an umbrella inside the Jeep in order to protect me from not getting all wet. This happened continously and can happen with the Jeep parked or runni g. This make me have to stop driving everytime it start to rain because of my reaction and reflects when it happens driving had made me loose the control of the vehicle and being very close to cause an accident. Ive made multiple claims to the dealer and the central offices of the company here in pr and left my Jeep multiple times in the dealer in order to solve the problem. They left me without any other car in order to transport myself for more than a week no mattrr the Jeep was in warranty. I also was being mistreaten by the manager employees and customer service personel. I got tired of this situation and decided to a temporary solution made bu my personal mechanic. If by any chance I have an accident and get injured or injured soneone else I fully responsibilize Jeep and all their CO mpany for this and will take legal actions. I ve been doing research and there are multiple complaints regarding this and there are no sokution or recall at all. Im just asking myself if they are waiting to have someone to get severe injured or dead in order to do something including all the safety agencies ??? I have multiple photos that can give faith of ehat im describing its true.
