Tl the contact owns a 2012 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that upon placing the fuel pump nozzle into the fuel filler neck, the fuel pump shut-off as pressure was built up inside the gas tank due to poor ventilation. Due to the failure, the contact had to slowly pump gasoline into the vehicle as the fuel pump would frequently stop due to the failure. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 13v120000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified and referred him to the local dealer for assistance. The contact then took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who linked the failure to the recall however, he was informed that the vehicle would have to be repaired by a dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 20 mph, a burning odor was emitted into the vehicle. The contact stated that the fuel pump and fuel tank were defective. The contact stated that he remedied the failure by replacing a new fuel pump. The approximate failure mileage was 97,000. Whenever the vehicle is parked with the front end at even a slight incline it will not start. This occurs whether or not the gas tank is full and it's annoying. I have to shake the car in order to get gas to the fuel pump and get it to start. This has happened since the car was a week old and continues to occur.
