Service Brakes Problems of Jeep Patriot - part 2

After filling up with gas car stumbles and dies at stops for about five minutes minutes afterwards. This procedure goes on for about ten miles all I read says it is a safety valve on top off gas tank. Only way to fix is relace the whole gas tank. This happens when vehicle is in motion or just setting idleling. Rpm starts to decreace and smothers plum out. I purchased this vehicle used it has done this ever since ive owned it.

The vehicle shuts off while driving. The battery is fine however I lose all power. It is as if there is no fuel even though I have a ful tank. The traction light comes on along with the check engine light. I roll to a stop and let the Jeep sit then turn the key and it starts right up. There is no warning or indication when it will ovcur. The check engine light will disappear after driving for a time and so I am told there is no code to be pulled. Im stuck driving a machine that may or may not try to end me. Tons of people have had a similar issue however my VIN does not seem to be included in the recall.

My vehicle will sometimes not go when I press the gas. The brakes don't properly work, the 4 wheel drive lock fails, the esp light flashes, the traction control fails, and it makes it difficult to drive over 5 miles an hour. I have yet to be in an accident, but I fear it may happen. It happens immediately after starting to drive, and doesn't always correct itself. I contacted Jeep and they told me I'm on my own. It is a known issue with these vehicles and wonder why they haven't recalled them to fix the problem. I fear I'm stuck with a lemon vehicle, because the transmission has already been replaced and I've only been in possession of the vehicle for 10 months. What are my options moving forward?.

Tl the contact called on behalf of his daughter who owns a 2009 Jeep Patriot 4x4. While driving at an unknown speed, it felt as if the vehicle were floating left to right. The steering also turned left to right and right to left, which caused the driver to momentarily lose control of the vehicle. The contact stated that the abs indicator illuminated and flashed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was taken to daystar Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (330-863-1144, located at 206 s carrollton st, malvern, OH 44644) where it was diagnosed that hard braking locked the brake pedal and caused it to stick to the floor. The technician replaced the brake pump and the abs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the extended warranty expired. The vehicle was repaired. Statrting on 23. May, 2018 my vehicle started randomly dying while driving. This is a complete loss of propulsion, the rpms drop to zero and the car completely stops running. The only way to get the vehicle moving again when it does start is to completely stop, place the vehicle in park and start the vehicle again. The vehicle has no preference or indication of when it is going to do this, so far it has died while pulling into traffic, driving down the freeway at 60 miles an hour, turning into a parking stall in a busy mall parking, while climbing hills and while going down hills. This information was given to fca along with the mileage which is roughly 37800 miles. I have been directed to pay out of my own pocket for diagnostics for this vehicle even though you may search Jeep Patriot forums. Com off of Chrysler website and you can find a list of similar complaints dating back as far as 2010 when Chrysler recalled nearly half a million vehicles for a very similar issue.

After refueling the Patriot I drove approximately 1/4 mile and the vehicle bucked, shuddered and shut off. The steering wheel locked in place and since there was no vacuum pressure the breaks we're not very effective. I was able to restart the vehicle after putting it in nuetral while on the entrance ramp to an interstate. This was the second time this had happened and until now I did not know they incidents were connected. The first time it occurred I had just refueled and was pulling up at a stop light and it turned off while I was stopping for the light.

While driving home from wok in a Jeep Patriot 2017 on a city street the brakes would not work suddenly and the speed increased rapidly uncontrollably. Two vehicles hit me going thru an intersection and the Jeep Patriot vehicle ran into a warehouse going thru 2 metal doors and a brick wall without any air bags deploying. The Jeep Patriot completely went into the warehouse and was stopped by hitting a large pillar.

Replaced fuel tank. Could not pump gas into it due to venting issue. Replaced with dealer tank. Vent hoses would not allow air passage. $800 2. Replaced abs eps system. $1,300 3. Replaced alternator. $400 no recall although significant similar problems noted on line with Jeep product. Please help! had to complete repairs to avoid being stranded.

Every single time I fill up the tank, it runs a very short distance from the gas station and starts to buck and jolt like it wants to shut off. When the car stalls out, the steering wheel locks up and the brakes lose power. Very dangerous!.

My 2014 Jeep Patriot over the last several months seems to be losing power while driving. For example when on the on ramp attempting to enter the interstate , it just feels like its almost running out of gas and rpm's will go up to 5-6 . I am almost afraid of being ran over when accelerating during any situation. Also my brakes from day one have always squeeked. . . I've taken it in to have it checked , they have cleaned and days later the same think. And the drums on rear are even worse, more of a grinding sound, but also I have been told they are fine. This noise is not normal . I have also had a few incidents where say sitting in traffic with my foot on the brake it will switch from manual to standard. It will be in drive then I will look and it will be in d 1. I have to manually push the shifter over to go back to normal drive.

After filling up gas at half a tank the car stalls trying to shut off after driving a short distance so there's no power to steer or brake safely in traffic. At stops, the car will shut off.

Problem with antilock brakes: all the lights on the dash are on. They intermittently go off, but mostly they stay on. Problem with transmission/engine: when I drive, the Jeep stalls out. This has occurred on the highway, so fast speed, as well as on side streets. Both of these issues are ongoing, have been happening off and on since I bought the Jeep.

Since I purchased the car in 2016 the brakes keep making this loud sound and I have take to the dealer twice who told me nothing was wrong with it. So then I decided to take it to another shop who then told me it was my front and back brackes and rotors but car is not that old. So I went ahead and just paid to replace it to be safe and two days after this work was done it gave me the same sound and now they are tell me this is how it is supposed to sound. I have heard other Jeeps just like mine make that same noise so I wonder if this is a issue with all the 2015 Jeep Patriots. It happens when I's trying to stop the car then it gives me that sound and sometimes when I'm driving I still can here the squealing sound. I know this is not normal at all.

When I fill up my gas tank to full, within a mile of leaving the gas station the car completely stalls while driving. The steering and the breaks lock up and I have no control of the car. I have to put the car in neutral and turn it on and off to start working again. This is very unsafe and dangerous while driving! this recently started to happen on a car with minimal miles on it.

Total tipm failure, with engine, brakes, steering, airbags failing all at once, with no warning, in traffic. 87 yr. Old with near fatal breakdown. Contacted Jeep, sent in documentation, told 6 mths. For reimbursement, then refused because VIN did not match recall list. Part was backordered because of mass failure.

After fueling with gas, my vehicle immediately stalled. It was then fine after I restarted it until I got to a roundabout where it stalled again, losing all power steering, brakes, power, speed, in heavy traffic. It was fine for a week after this until I got gas again, in which case, I was just about to enter the interstate when it stalled again, losing all of the basic functions again in rush hour traffic where I had to sit on the side of the road for 20 minutes while my vehicle ran and stalled repeatedly until it worked itself out. This is a very dangerous situation and could have been much worse had I already been on the interstate. This is a definite issue that needs to be taken seriously and fixed as I see I am not the only one that has had this issue. I got gas again last week where afterwards my Jeep stalled on main street during lunch traffic. I shouldn't have to be scared to put gas in my vehicle in case it decides to stall in another dangerous situation. I am worried about my safety and any passengers I may have with me at any point in time when it stalls and stops working completely while I am driving down any road. I am also concerned that I will be doing more wear and tear damage on my battery and starter as I am trying to restart my vehicle after it stalls on these roads with minimum to no shoulders. I have a accident or crash car before( the Jeep was in making left turn ,in motion) I was in camuy rural area, city 0f puerto rico and the airbag doesn't came out thank to our mighty god it wasn't too much but the air bag it doesn't work.

I was driving my 2008 Jeep Patriot limited down the street and hit a pot hole and with in seconds it sounded like a flat tire. I pulled into the closest parking lot and got out there was no flat tried to drive it and the parking brake was locked I took the brakes apart and the parking brake on the one side completely fell out in my hands. The brake clips ripped out of the dust cover and the adjuster fell into to the drum and locked the brakes up. Luckily I was only doing 30 when it happens and slowed down other wise if I was on the highway I could only imagine what would of happened.

I was driving on a city street around 2:30 pm when I notice smoke coming out from under my hood. I pulled off to a safe spot and by this time ii could see the fire coming out of the front of my Jeep. Three fire inspectors looked at it and are unable to determine the cause of the fire. However, a Jeep mechanic also looked at it and believes the fire started behind the battery. The Jeep is totaled. Still waiting on reports from the insurance company. Cynthia I just wanted to give you an update. We did hire some people who went out and also were not able to fully determine the fire. I am having a hard time getting in contact with Chrysler. I will keep trying and let you know what they tell me. Depending on what they tell me we might move forward with more investigation. My brakes make a loud sound when I'm making a stop. I have a full warranty on my brakes and took it back to the dealer twice. What I was advised is that sound is normal and that all Jeep Patriots makes that sound. Well I have not heard that sound from another Jeep but not sure if there is a defect.

Brakes have been squeaking since June. Discussed it again with dealership & was told brakes are fine & it's "normal". This occurs when backing out of driveway which is not very steep & even braking at a stop sign at 20 mph on a residential street. Even when braking on flat surfaces out of parking spots in reverse.

We are currently in our 4th stay at the dealership since may 2016 with the same problem. While driving, the electronic stability control and/or electronic throttle control indicator will ding and light up causing the wheels to lose power (it is like you are in neutral), the brakes to become hard (you can't depress them), and the steering becomes tight. The three previous times to the dealership (griffin Dodge tifton GA), we've been told that they replaced the stability control sensor, the intake manifold gasket, wiring harness to the transmission, and most recently the cpu (Feb 2017).

This vehicle has been very dependable up until now, my 3rd year of ownership. The car has been maintained well and has never shown any indication of problems. While driving on the freeway a few weeks ago going about 65mph, the vehicle suddenly died in traffic. All of a sudden I lost the ability to accelerate and the vehicle was coasting. I tried to move over as I was in the fast lane with no shoulder available due to road work. I got over to the far right lane but there was also no shoulder there. Luckily I was able to duck into a work area that had a small opening(I took out a couple cones though). As I attempted to slow the vehicle once in the closed work area off the side of the freeway I lost power steering and the ability to brake. The car would start again but not accelerate and would die again when I tried. We left the car and came back 2 hours later with the same issues. After letting the car sit for 3-4 hours it ran perfectly fine. Two days later I had the same problem while driving on city streets going anywhere from 25-40mph. I had the vehicle looked at and it did not put out any codes thus the mechanic was unable to help me. I took the car home again but now every single time the car runs long enough to reach normal operating temperature it dies while driving. This car is a safety hazard! there were no warning lights coming on beforehand, and after the car has died it sometimes will flash the transmission light or all of the lights will briefly flash and then go off. My car is no longer covered under warranty but I believe this car should be recalled. It has happened to many people across the country and I even saw an investigation opened in 2012. What were the results of that investigation? I haven't been able to find them anywhere probably indicating that nothing ever came of it. I will be contacting Jeep as well as carmax where I bought the car.

I have 3 parts problem of my car. 1. ) my steering wheel are not in the perfect balance. Normal steering wheel face 12 oclock but slightly turning to right about 12:30 or 1 oclock position,so when I run at slow speed about 5 mph it turn right about 3 second and when you run it at high speed more worse. 2. ) my 2 bearing part is worn out I guess,because I notice that I run at 55 or 60 mph at freeway it make alot of noise like rumbling sound feels like falling apart. The effected part is on the passenger side on the right and the other one is on the back side on the left both of them need to replce soon as possible this request is urgent for my family saftey I have 1 years old daughter riding with me and my wife. 3. ) my last compalint is my car brake this is scary I ever experience I cant really hardly discribe. Many of day I drove my car run at speed of 25 or 30 mph and when I hit the bump and press the brakes the brake goes all the way its feel like shaking and the brakes barely touch the floor its happen many time so dangerious I check my brake dot oil it was good perfect level.
