2 Wheel problem of the 2016 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 12/29/2023

From the day I purchased the vehicle on December 29 of 2023. I immediately heard a rattling noise coming from the rear end of the vehicle. I also noticed that the transmission had been catching or slipping or missing whenever it transfers gears it is getting worse by the day I have taken it to the original dealership at mnf auto sales in albuquerque and I have also taken it to the larry miller Jeep in albuquerque new mexico. They claim that the only thing wrong with the vehicle is the motor mounts after I left with my vehicle from being repaired, it continues to happen, and the transmission is getting worse day by day , I am afraid if I keep driving it much longer that it may cause an accident or damage the vehicle severely. I am trying to work with the dealership and they are telling me that multiple people have looked at it and that there’s nothing wrong with it however, that is false information , my vehicle has been in the service department for over 10 days at two different locations and basically the main dealership where I bought it from is telling me that they do not want to look at it and that it’s the type of transmission I have and there’s nothing wrong.

3 Wheel problem of the 2016 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 08/01/2023

Problems started when the wheel and axel came off the vehicle on a side road 3 years ago. The vehicle dropped a wheel again when crossing the country a month later. Both incidents included my wife and passengers. That at least seems resolved. At 28900 miles or so we have been wrestling for the last year and some with intermittently all the warning lights coming on and now the car will occasionally lose all power while in motion. So we have taken it to the dealership where they say it requires a replacement of the electrical harness. Topping off, the driver seat rest safety mechanism deployed randomly this last week while the vehicle was parked in the driveway.

4 Wheel problem of the 2011 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 09/06/2022

The back passenger tire started rubbing and smoking. After getting home, noticed the wheel was at an angle. After taking off the tire, noticed the whole rear suspension cradle was completely rusted through. I contacted Chrysler dealer to find out no recall. Contacted the place I purchased the Jeep only 18 months ago, sent them pics, and was told "that is normal". I could have been on the interstate or highway when the suspension broke. There was absolutely no warning signs this could happen or was going to happen. I have not driven much due to working from home since covid. Has not been inspected since I don't know who to contact. So now I have a Jeep sitting in my drive that I can't drive and still paying on.

5 Wheel problem of the 2016 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 09/14/2021

Faulty control arm/ball joints ( all in one part together for ball joint and control arm) first time I took it in was Jan 2021 the two months later now this is the 3rd time now the car dealership is stating the faulty part ( control arm/ ball join) mechanic stated both times that that parts were faulty. Causing damage to tires that are not safe and I have to pay out of pocket for new tires when the parts are faulty which the parts were covered under my warranty but tire were not. . . So I believe since the parts that are faulty that caused damaged I should not be liable for buying the new tires did to faulty parts causing the damage.

6 Wheel problem of the 2010 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 09/19/2020

The subframe has corroded causing my tire to break while driving down a city street. There is a problem that Chrysler is aware of but has not to informed the public only service. If I have been driving on the freeway this would of been a horrible accident and could of caused bodily harm.

I had to have the subframe and cross member replaced on my 2008 Patriot in January 2017, it has rusted again and the same parts need replaced, it was replaced oe parts which I feel were faulty. I was making a u-turn on a small city street and my rear cross member broke, I thought I ran over a something then my steering wheel shimmed , my tires that were held in the cross member were now tilted in to my cross member making black smoke. My tire rubbed on my wheel well untill blew . I was very lucky I was not going fast when this occured.

8 Wheel problem of the 2010 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 12/19/2019

Mechanic inspected as part of potentially buying the vehicle. I had expressed concern over how it was driving. Ball joint is bad. I researched online and saw a lot of issues with this and was hoping that a safety recall was in place for it! (I did find a warranty extension for the subframe, and it is still good -- so it might be worth buying if safety issues are fixed. ).

9 Wheel problem of the 2014 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 09/16/2019

Nexen n5000 2115/65/r17 tire tread seems to melt away or peel up and causes excessive use of the brakes. They were added at 36043 miles and at 59644 I was told to replace the times and the brakes. The stated mileage is 65000. 1 tire has a chunk of torn tread that is gone. The other tires seem to be peeling or melting away. Vehicle is a Jeep Patriot. When first purchased the tires made the breaking faster and sliding was removed in rain, sleet or mountain snow. Now that is all reduced.

10 Wheel problem of the 2011 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 08/30/2019

While driving down the road after picking up my 3 children from daycare. I was going approximately 25mph and the front driver side tire folded outward. The sub frame and cross members apparently are defective. Unbeknownst to me there is a warranty 10 year/ unlimited mileage. There was also a class action lawsuit on Jeep Patriots/ compasses between 2001-2007 because of this issue. Instead of fixing the issue this company/ manufacturer has continued to use these defective parts on newer models such as mine. I might add for some odd reason the class action lawsuit doesn't cover my year although its the same defective sub frame and cross member parts. All they have done was offer this warranty, which I was never made aware of or told about by them or the dealer I made my purchase through. After my children and I nearly got seriously injured or killed did I look into this and found out. Due to these defective parts not only were we almost killed but the car suffered severe damage to the front end and the transmission as well as various other parts and components. I still have payments left on this automobile and it is completely inoperable and really hasn't gotten that much use compared to the amount I've paid already, not even counting what I still owe. I called the dealership and corporate office and they seem completely unconcerned and unhelpful in resolving this issue. I will never purchase a Jeep/ fiat/ Chrysler product ever again. These people put me and my family knowingly into a very unsafe vehicle and nearly got us killed. If I had been on the interstate doing 65mph and this had happened I would not be here writing this. All I can do is thank god it decided to fail when it did, not later on the interstate. To sum it up tire came off, lost steering control, ground to a halt in the street sideways, car fluids pouring all over road. Also have pictures of scene.

11 Wheel problem of the 2014 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 08/15/2019

Our 2014 Jeep Patriot came equipped with firestone affinity tires . At 19k miles all 4 tires would not pass PA. Inspection and needed replaced. These tires are a safety hazard to anyone without constant inspections of treads. Even following proper rotations and air inflation regulations they were shot ! total junk and very unsafe tires especially in northern wintery states. I replaced with a different brand of safer tires. . . . Never again will I trust firestone tires!.

The lights sometimes go off but keep coming back on. Not sure if abs is functional. 2nd: dealer advises that the wheel mounting bolts (5 each wheel) are defective and will need to be replaced. Tire pressure sensor light has been on since car was bought new, had it checked by dealer and they said it would go off after driven a few miles. Engine light came on around 50k miles and before I could get it checked it went off. I was told the only way the computer could detect the problem was if the light was on. It has came on and gone back off several times. Now it has came on at 90k miles and the I had it checked and was told I had a bad crankshaft sensor and a bad camshaft sensor. Now the transmission has started slipping at 90k miles. I'm also on my 3rd set of tires on the front because the front end will not stay aligned.

28 Wheel problem of the 2010 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 03/25/2017

Valve stems ( that are metal and have a sensor) are corroding are literally snapping off. I've contacted Jeep directly and customer service states that it's not covered under warranty and there is no recalls on this issue. I've replaced 3 valve stems in one week. My latest one happened today on an interstate that could have resulted in a horrible crash. I do have documentation of receipts that I can't upload at the moment that state "bad" valve stems.

29 Wheel problem of the 2013 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 02/18/2017

On 2/11/17 I bought a 2013 certified Jeep Patriot from a Jeep dealership in bryon, ohio. Certified meant that 125 points on the Jeep were checked for road worthiness tires was on the list that was inspected. On 2/18/17 while putting mud flaps on the Jeep. I saw that all 4 tires which had 4,300 miles on them were cracking in the rubber in between the tire thread. These are the original firestone affinity tires that came on the Jeep when new. Dealership I bought the Jeep from told me to take the Jeep to my local Jeep dealership for repair of bad tires. ( I bought the Jeep 156 miles from my home) local Jeep dealership said tires are the tire manufacturer's responsibility. Firestone corporate representative says it's Jeep's responsibility for the replacement of tires since Jeep certified that the tires checked out fine during the certification process. Firestone has stopped making this tire. I also see other complaints with these tires. Please see photos. Due to safety concerns of driving at highway speeds on these tires and summer heat to be here in a couple of months. I 'm going to buy new anything but firestone tires, and the seek recourse on my costs for tires.

31 Wheel problem of the 2015 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 07/17/2016

While the vehicle was in motion, the car hesitated, lost speed, and then cut off (lost compression) while driving on the freeway. The engine indicator light never came on (beforehand) to alert that there was an engine problem. The passenger front tire loses air (constantly) and I've had to put air in the tire (since purchase date 3/13/15) every other week and the dealership keeps insisting there is nothing wrong with the vehicle.

33 Wheel problem of the 2012 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 11/30/2015

I was driving at a speed of 50mph around a curve in the road and the engine stalled and the check engine light came on. I tried to put tin neutral and restart it, it did not turn over. I put it in park and after 3 tries it started. I immediately took it to the dealership and they told me it was a crankshaft position sensor. This happened once before on a Saturday and when I took it in on Monday they told me without a check engine light they could not know what was wrong.

34 Wheel problem of the 2014 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 10/28/2015

First day ,I drove out of dealer, with my new Jeep Patriot,a rolling noise was coming from my wheels, never in other autos I herd, such a loud bearing noise,as I drive. I thought it was normal, but I had to close my windows, thinking that it will help. As time goes, with 30,000 miles is getting worse!,it sounds like a thous old metal skate boards, with metal rolling wheel bearings. I turned off my engine,I put car in neutral, coast down in a down sloped street, and the laud bearing noise is there. I jack my car up,with my floor jack, put stands, turned wheels by hand ,no bearing noise!. Start engine, while in jacks, put in drive, noise and jerk at 25 mph.

35 Wheel problem of the 2014 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 09/21/2015

A good year eagle tire exploded. These tires were on my Jeep when I bought it 2 years ago. I have since learned that this has happened many times to many drivers. Two of the tire dealers in my area refuse to sell that model tire due to such problems. I have contacted brighton Chrysler in brighton michigan to alert them to the problem. I have as yet to call Chrysler or good year, but I intend to find out who put these tires on my car, and report this problem. This could cause injuries or death and result in a class action lawsuit. There are a great many reviews on the internet reporting problems with good year tires of this, and other models.
