36 Wheel problem of the 2011 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 09/11/2015

"death wobble". I experienced this on a short two hour trip where I couldn't control the card. Every time I hit a bump or tired to turn the car was hard to steer. This Jeep has on 40k on it and is 4 years old. I was travelling on the highway and genuinely feared for my life. I was over halfway to my destination so I got off the highway and took the back roads with my hazards on and went slow. The fact that Jeep is unwilling to reimburse me for the cost of the repair is upsetting. But what is more upsetting is how they have not issued a recall on this vehicle. I have spoken to several people with regards to the exact same issue and not just with the Patriot. This needs to be addressed before someone gets seriously injured or worse. I have no faith in the company now and do not trust the safety of the vehicle.

38 Wheel problem of the 2011 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 07/15/2015

39 Wheel problem of the 2007 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 06/25/2015

Driving 70mph on the highway, the tire low pressure light came on. Moments after, I noticed the steering was odd and seconds after I heard the flopping. The tire valve stem with tpms failed. It had lost the nut which holds the stem to the wheel. I was going down the highway at 70mph! this is a safety hazzard and these need recalled and replaced with good parts!!!!!!!! this is the 2nd valve stem where the nut has disappeared and leaked air from the tire so it went flat! this is unexceptable. I just found out Jeep is the last to have a universal replacement rubber stem which can be programmed to the auto's computer. Federal regulations to implement more safety standards and the parts are made from aluminum and plastic (as to not increase mpg another fed regulation) which cannot hold up to the outside elements. Taxpayers are paying the bill again with $60-$70 to replace each tpms since the valve alone cannot be replaced plus the aluminum ones are guaranteed to again fail. Why don't I see more complaints on NHTSA for tpms since there are lots more on the internet.

40 Wheel problem of the 2008 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 06/13/2015

I have 3 parts problem of my car. 1. ) my steering wheel are not in the perfect balance. Normal steering wheel face 12 oclock but slightly turning to right about 12:30 or 1 oclock position,so when I run at slow speed about 5 mph it turn right about 3 second and when you run it at high speed more worse. 2. ) my 2 bearing part is worn out I guess, because I notice that I run at 55 or 60 mph at freeway it make alot of noise like rumbling sound feels like falling apart. The effected part is on the passenger side on the right and the other one is on the back side on the left both of them need to replce soon as possible this request is urgent for my family saftey I have 1 years old daughter riding with me and my wife. 3. ) my last compalint is my car brake this is scary I ever experience I cant really hardly discribe. Many of day I drove my car run at speed of 25 or 30 mph and when I hit the bump and press the brakes the brake goes all the way its feel like shaking and the brakes barely touch the floor its happen many time so dangerious I check my brake dot oil it was good perfect level. And I also complaint my car body part the hood, the back fender right side and left rusty, dent & scratches hopefully I can get a help soon.

41 Wheel problem of the 2012 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 06/05/2015

While turning into a parking spot the bolt in the ball joint broke causing damage to the axle ,ball joint ,and a-arm. After having the Jeep loaded on a flat bed and taken to a dealer for repair the mechanics told me I was lucky it happened in a parking lot rather than on the bypass I had just driven at which the speed limit is 70. If it had happened there it most likely would have been a very serious accident being the Jeep would have been uncontrollable. Has there been any talks of a recall for this problem ? I am hearing this is a problem that happens a lot with the factory installed parts but the after market parts seem to be ok so far. I am sure you are thinking it must be my driving and off roading but I only drive paved roads and have never had a ticket in the 34 years I have been driving.

42 Wheel problem of the 2014 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 06/03/2015

This vehicle is equipped with metal chromed lug nut covers which are pressed onto the lug nuts. Twice now after a tire rotation and having all 4 wheels removed and reinstalled these lug nut caps have come flying off. Once when speeds were 45mph+ the other at 70mph. Due to having my arm out the window I was struck by one of these caps and was cut and bruised. Dealer has replaced the affected lug nuts but they are replacing them with the same defective lug nuts used at the factory. 2 times now after tire rotation this has occurred where several of these caps have come flying off of the vehicle. Dealer keeps replacing them and I have contacted Chrysler to inform them of the issue and desire to have the lug nuts replaced with solid nuts. Chrysler and the dealer have so far refused to replace these defective lug nuts with anything other than the same faulty ones. As these are ejected from the vehicle at high speeds the concern is that bystanders could be severely injured if struck by one of these caps, and or significant damage to other vehicles, or property.

43 Wheel problem of the 2015 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 04/01/2015

44 Wheel problem of the 2009 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 03/18/2015

Had a very noticeable vibration while driving car. Took into dealership and mechanic was able to stick his fingers through the "k" frame and noticed 3 giant holes in the frame from corroded metal. Upon investigation it was noted that on 5-19-14 that the 2007 Jeep Patriot was recalled for the exact same thing (23-012-14) due to corrosion of the k frame which ended up extending the warranty indefinite. I contacted Chrysler and explained my frustration with the situation and asked that since there was a recall for the same exact situation for the 07 if there was anything they could do for me. They proceeded to tell me there was nothing they could do because my year was not recalled even though it was the same issue. Due to this I will have to buy a new vehicle on short notice due to the safety of driving my family in an unsafe vehicle I bought brand new 6 years ago. I feel that Chrysler should take responsibility for something they documented as a problem even thought it "only affected" vehicles 2 years prior to mine instead of just ignoring the customer's concerns and worries. Due to this I will never purchase another Chrysler vehicle for the way the treat their customers.

45 Wheel problem of the 2009 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 11/28/2014

Took vehicle in to tire shop to replace tires. During inspection, it was noted that the lower right control arm was broken. While that may be common for a 5 year old vehicle, that should not be common for a 39k mi vehicle that has spent the majority of its life sitting in a driveway or garage. Mechanics at shop stated that if it was not replaced, vehicle should not be driven over 40 mph due to an increased likelihood of wheel separation and damage to vehicle/persons in vehicle. Replaced right lower control arm and all four tires, as well as right ball joint where control arm connects as recommended by shop. Same issues are recurring again 13k miles later. Issues include: loose steering, poor steering control over 55 mph, additional wear on front tires and brakes.

46 Wheel problem of the 2010 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 11/19/2014

Tire air fill valve stem corroded due to road salt. Common issue on Jeep forums. The alloy metal just evaporates over time and snaps off when adding air or washing the rims but have heard of them coming apart driving down the road. Seems to occur just below the valve cap edge. Switched to rubber valve stems but lost auto tire air pressure monitor.

47 Wheel problem of the 2014 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 10/14/2014

Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Jeep Patriot 4x2 sport. The contact stated that when idle at a stop light the vehicle was jerking forward and reverse. In addition, the vehicle had stem coming from the hood, had an abnormal odor, and the tire pressure warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired however the problem recurred. The failure had occurred approximately 3 times. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 25069. Kh.

48 Wheel problem of the 2010 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 10/06/2014

Ever since I had tires put on, the seals leak and I was told it was an issue with Jeep Patriot rims. Electronic throttle control randomly comes on and the car wont go, I have to pull over and restart (intermittent problem over several months) now the the electronic stability control malfunction light came on and wont go over 20mph. Ive read several complaints. Why no recalls on this?!?!?.

49 Wheel problem of the 2013 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 07/18/2014

I have had a terrible service experience. I had to wait over a month to get my 2013 Jeep in for warranty service. After another two week wait, I was told all was good and to pick up my vehicle. The maintenance department assured me that the vehicle was good to go repeatedly, even after I asked them multiple times because of prior bad service. The maintenance shop failed to reconnect my vehicles front right ball joint causing a catastrophic loss of control on the road after leaving the dealer. I skidded off the road, with one tire flopping around in the wheel well uncontrollably narrowly avoiding two other vehicles on my way off the road. Had this happed at a faster speed, there is a good chance the family and I could have been killed. This happened over two weeks ago and the dealership still has my vehicle. They have replaced some parts but have refused to replace damaged tires. One expects the highest of maintenance standards when taking a vehicle to a dealership, this dealership is failing horribly in maintenance standards and customer service.

50 Wheel problem of the 2008 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

I have a 2008 Jeep Patriot with less than 50,000 miles and this spring I've had to replace two cracked/faulty tpms units - at separate times. Both incidents were discovered due to low psi, a leaky valve stem and flat tires. Any single repair could be written off as coincidence, but two out of four tires is disconcerting.

51 Wheel problem of the 2010 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 12/25/2013

The contact owns a 2010 Jeep Patriot. The contact was driving approximately 40 mph when the aluminum tire valve malfunctioned and caused the tire to deflate. The tire was taken to an independent dealer and replaced. The manufacturer was contacted but no solution was offered. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 124,000.

52 Wheel problem of the 2002 Jeep Patriot

53 Wheel problem of the 2008 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 07/29/2013

We bought the Jeep used with about 50k miles on it. After a short time the check engine light came on for a valve to be replaced. Also, when we use the turn signal the dome lights come on. Of course even though we bought the warranty none of these problems are covered. I don't know how the lighting system failing could possible be wear or tear or misuse, but they say its not their fault and it's not covered. So in the 3 day period where we were waiting to have those problems fixed we had another problem. My wife and I were driving down the highway at about 50mph and the tire completely and instantly went flat almost causing us to wreck! with my 4 year old son in the back! we take the tire to a tire shop and they say it was the valve and it's a known problem with our vehicle for that year and explains everything about it. I call 2 other tire shops to verify what he said and they both automatically knew about the problem and said it happens all the time and I also need to have the others replaced costing over $350!!! we tell the Jeep dealership about it and they say we hit a rock driving down the road and they know of no such problems. I google the problem of tpms and sure enough tons of websites talking about everyone's ball joints going bad, and tpms problems. Not only are they acting like it's not a known problem when it clearly is. . . They put me and my families' lives at risk by acting like nothing is wrong and not letting us know that the problem will likely continue happening to the other tires!!!! this is an outrage and something needs to be done!.

54 Wheel problem of the 2010 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 07/09/2013

I had my car in to repair a flat tire and the mechanic reported to me that one of the front ball joints needed to be repaired ASAP.

55 Wheel problem of the 2007 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 06/15/2013

I began to hear a humming sound from my rear wheel after doing research Jeep Patriots are experiencing a tremendous amount of wheel bearing failures at low mileage. The dealer does not have the part in stock and they've superseded the part number 4 times, which tells me that Chrysler knows there is an issue and has been unable to re engineer the wheel bearing correctly. Upon inspection the wheel bearing hub it's completely rusted, frozen and unable to extracted from the spindle. Almost every Jeep Patriot, compass and caliber has had to have the bearings replaced at very low mileage. The amount of corrosion on the hub for such a low mileage vehicle it's unacceptable. A recall needs to be issued for this issue before wheels start falling off causing major accidents .

56 Wheel problem of the 2009 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 12/14/2012

I have a vehicle with a tire pressure monitoring system. Two tire valve stems are cracked and one has a slow leak. I have read of others with the same system where the valve stems simple break when hand washing the car and the tire goes flat in seconds. This is a serious hazard and could kill someone if it happened on the highway. It is outrageously expensive to replace these stems.

57 Wheel problem of the 2008 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 11/15/2012

At 62k miles I had to replace my driver side lower control arm assembly costing me $300 and no help from Chrysler or my dealership. Now at 93k miles and a year and half later, I need both lower control arms replaced. The estimate for them both replaced is $715. That's over $1000 for something that Chrysler knows about and does nothing to assist their customers. I purchased this car brand new, even ordered from the factory, using the discount my company has with them, we get the preferred price being a supplier for their bearings and this is the quality I get? why even put the best bearings in the world on the Jeep if you use garbage to support the wheel?.

58 Wheel problem of the 2008 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 10/16/2012

At about 15,000 miles we started to here "clunking" when driving the car, had it in several times for sun roof leaks and had the dealer take a look, but they could never find anything. This week had it in for the 5-year check up and in the notes it stated that the front control arms are bad. Did a search to find out more details and came across all these posts from other users. Looks like I'm now stuck with a large repair, similar to other users, for something that was an issue early on. All the miles have been highway miles. Not at all happy right now. If they were aware of the issue early on, why was it not found and repaired during that warranty period?.

59 Wheel problem of the 2008 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 07/18/2012

The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Patriot 4x4. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the front passenger's side tire became flat. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was advised to the contact that the valves stems needed to be replaced on all four tires. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000 and the current mileage was 25,000.

60 Wheel problem of the 2012 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 07/11/2012

When I first purchased the car, I notice that I had to fill up the gas every week. After a while the low air notification came on. Basically I find myself adding air to the tires once every few weeks. Since I've done that I noticed I have a little better gas mileage. But I wanted to know am I alone with the faulty tires or are they leaking and what should I do. Do I go back to the dealer? they are goodyear brand of tires.

61 Wheel problem of the 2008 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 07/02/2012

Severe steering wheel vibration at elevated speed. Front ball joints shot and cannot be serviced due to design. Replaced front left and front right lower control arms, plus 2 tires with only 11k miles. Problem appears to be sudden/rapid deterioration and catastrophic failure since all 4 tires were replaced at 50k miles with zero evidence of abnormal wear and no steering issues. Vehicle has not been wrecked or driven off-road. Numerous Jeep forums and blogs with complaints about the 2008 Jeep Patriot front suspension. Local Jeep dealer service manager claimed never seen this issue before or replaced any lower control arms on this year, make and model. Had work done at independent garage since dealer service manager was apparently not telling the truth or withholding facts.

62 Wheel problem of the 2011 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 06/16/2012

In 2012 we had a nail through the tire of the 2011 Jeep Patriot that we bought new. When we took the car to tires plus to have the tire replaced. We were told that they couldn't legally replace just one tire. The tread wear was so awful; uneven, different tread variances, they couldn't match one used tire. How would they pick what tire to match it up too. We ended up with 4 new tires, we were also told at the time the uneven tread was doing damage to shocks and struts. A year later we took it in for new break pads and rotation, again, even with these "new" tires we were told tread was so uneven, it would be loud, be careful, excreta. I took the Jeep into a Jeep dealership for a recall 10/2013 "n01 recall" since I had in there I also opted to get transmission service/filter, they too talked to me about my tire wear. 11/2013ish my husband, stationed in hi purchases a new Jeep as well. Now we are stuck with two of these. . . 2/2014 I find out the vehicle he purchase (not his, but others with same yr/make/model are already being recalled. Then my transmission goes out! a Jeep, we have just owned, higher miles all from hwy 94 from my husband compute when he lived in WI to fortmccoy. . . Straight shot. . . 65mh the whole way. In addition they fix sway bar link, arm control and tell me noise that still exists could be wheel bearing, my alignment was so off, they kept it an extra day. So I'm 5k into my vehicle I owed 3 years, the wheel bearing, alignment, sway bar, arm control, shocks, struts all I believe to whatever (I wish I new) was causing the uneven tread wear. There is something wrong! transmission different issue. . . Or is it? I have been told as mentioned above they couldn't "legally" replace just one tire. . . Then how for the last three years can Jeep legally let me drive my 4 kids in a vehicle that has obvious problems. Yes, I've called dealership, home office and bbb.

63 Wheel problem of the 2007 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 06/12/2012

I was driving my car and the front end started to shake all over the road. I took it to my repair shop where they informed me that my lower ball joints need to be replaced immediately due to being excessively worn out and in a dangers condition.

64 Wheel problem of the 2011 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 06/03/2012

Right front tire blew out causing loss of control of vehicle in sharp curve. Vehicle struck concrete culvert with left side and flipped at least twice, landing right side up.

65 Wheel problem of the 2007 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 05/03/2012

Purchased this vehicle in may of 2012. Vehicle makes large rattling racket when going over any type of dirt road/brick road and a clunk when going over large bumps (speed bumps). Have taken to mechanic several times - turns out the large clunk was the ball joints. . . They were completely worn at 48000 miles which in turn changed the alignment of my wheels - as well as after driving it a mere 10000 miles made both front tires completely bald.

66 Wheel problem of the 2008 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 03/15/2012

I have read many other people on here with the same issue and my mechanic said my model Jeep was known for this, but after hitting a curb my wheel and suspension parts holding it on let the front right tire, rim and all fall completely off. After getting it to the mechanic and having him putting it on the lift he told me I couldn't drive the car even after the front right was fixed b/c the car was a danger to myself and others. I was told the front ball joints which hold the suspension together and keep the wheels on the tires were completely worn out and the tires could fall off at any moment. He told me he had this issue many times with my model car and didn't understand it. I bought the car used a year and half ago with 45,000 miles or so. Once the mechanic did change the ball joints, he told me something even worse. . . He could tell since they were not factory ball joints, that they had already been replaced by the previous owner. Therefore, the factory set needed to be replaced sometime before I bought the car, and a year or so after the replacement ball joints (the parts that hold you tires on so they don't fall off driving 60 mph down the highway and kill you and others) were put on, a new replacement set had to be added. This is a serious and scary issue that needs to be addressed!.
