Because they have not sealed the screws on the interior side of the roof that hold the rails on top of the Jeep it now leaks since we have attached a kayak rack to those Jeep factory placed rails. Jeep is not willing to repair it and it requires tearing out the complete interior headliner to repair. After it rains the water sits in the door frame and leaks into the floor of the backseat causing molding issues (last good rain we got I ended up with an inch of water sitting in the back floorboard). It also collects in the front interior light fixture so when you drive and come to a stop there is water coming down all over the dashboard and the electrical/computer components of the dash. I called Jeep customer service and they won't repair it even though it is a very common problem (per google search to try and see what the cause and repair entails, this is how I found out that the rail screws are the issue). Since it is a common problem and Jeep doesn't want to repair it and it is not only ruining my headliner and the carpet, but it also poses a risk when driving that it distracts as you try to sop it up as it's leaking from the light fixture as you drive and there's no other way to get it out without taking the whole inside of the Jeep apart.

The sunroof leaked into the lights above the driver and passenger seats. As soon as the vehicle started to move this cause the water to dump out of the lights onto the occupants of the vehicle and the vehicle controls. The sunroof can also be triggered to open randomly due to the water buildup where the electrical controls are located.
Blower motor for hvac fails without notice on all speeds. Results in "foggy" windshield and lack of defrost feature and DE-ice features. This can result in the vehicle restricting vision while driving or cause the driver to begin a trip only to realize that they can't see. In rapidly changing climates - the failure of the blower motor may result in sudden and unplanned restricted vision. Issue appears to be related to blower motor resistor as a tested failure point. It should be noted that many other owners within the Jeep community have experienced similar failures across many models of Jeep products based on research.
Windshield wipers are going continuously without me turning them on. This happens while I'm driving, sitting at a light, sitting at a stop sign or parked with my engine on.

Vehicles wipers will not stop, even if switch is set on off! they're on when starting vehicle and still on even while driving.
The universal joint holding the side mirror broke on both sides of the vehicle within ~1 month of each other. The same component failed in exactly the same way in both instances. In both cases, the problem was discovered at the end of a work day (~5pm) after the vehicle was parked outside for the entire work day. The problem was noticed prior to entering or even touching the vehicle. The mirror was loose and pointing more toward the ground than normal. Upon attempting to adjust the mirror into the correct position, it was found to be loose and detached. The broken piece is made of plastic. It has a hemisphere with 3 prongs sticking out of it. The 3 prongs have grooves in them that engage with tabs on a spacial washer. The washer pushes on a spring. One of the prongs is broken at the top of the groove which is engaged with the washer. It appears that the plastic is not strong enough for the spring load, but there may also be contributing factors due to stress concentrations in the groove or from the sharp edges of the washer. Here is my best interpretation of the text on the sticker on the assembly. Original torque 1. 0-2. 0 19-459000-000 lot. No 04314 seoul, south korea.

Frost was on windshield and back window. I turned on the rear window defroster to clear window. The rear window has an embedded wiper. After driving approximately 10 miles we parked the vehicle. Just after exiting the rear window exploded like a gunshot. The center of the window had disintegrated leaving a roughly rectangular shape. The bottom of the missing glass rectangle went down to the imbedded wiper. The Jeep Patriot was rented from enterprise car rentals. License number hmj3405 unit number 7n3mkq.
A few days after hiitting a pothole on a country paved road, my Patriot lost wipers, headlights, turn signals & rear wiper. None of the fuses were damaged or blown. I had the dealer run diagnostics but nothing showed up. I had the fuse box & relays replaced. It continues to happen without warning while sitting still & sometimes while in motion. Very dangerous in rain.

Any type of wet weather caused the map lights to fill up with water as the vehicle then accelerated/decelerated around curves or when starting and stopping water would pour from the lights soaking the electrical components located directly beneath the lights.

The windshield wipers on my Jeep will go off constantly and I have absolutely no control over them. The headlights will also turn on and off by themselves periodically with no warning or ability to control them. When it rains my windshield wipers and headlights are unpredictable and I can not drive safely. I believe these issues may be in connection to the recent NHTSA recall #16v-668 manufacturer recall #s61. This issue has been going on since July of 2016 and happens whenever my car is turned on. At this point in time, Chrysler automotive has failed to remedy the situation.
Northern minnesota - the side windows completely frost over making it impossible to see. I have to scrape the windows to see out at intersections. The windshield itself will only defrost 70%. I have to use either full defrost mode -- leaving my feet to freeze -- or alternate between 50/50 feet/defrost and full defrost. I have tried cracking the windows or turning on the ac with heat but to no avail. This creates a dangerous driving situation. The windows often freeze shut so it is not possible to wind the window down at intersections either. This has been happening all winter. Today it was -5 degrees here and the colder it is the worse the frost over on the windows is. I can not see at all out of either the drivers or passenger side windows.
The dome light which has sun roof controls started leaking water. It poses a safety threat because it distracts the driver by spilling water on the electronic controls in the vehicle which happen to be aligned with the location of leak.
Had to get transmission replaced at 15000 miles due to a noise and Chrysler not knowing what the issue was. Was running out of tranny fluid 3 times in one month. With no leak found. Now I am hearing that noise again. Steering is very sensitive and seems to be getting worse, especially going around a left hand corner on the highway. Motor mount was loose at 16000 miles , was fixed, but why was it loose? steering wheel shakes badly when going over 65 mph on freeway. E brake does not work properly. If it is pulled and I am on a hill and it is in neutral or the clutch is pressed in it will roll. . . (dealership tells me it works and also, they cannot adjust it anymore) why?. . My windshield wpiers are stalling, more and more often they wont turn on until I turn them on as fast as they will go and then turn them down after that. I have had many problems with this vehicle and trying to get Chrysler to buy back because it is obviously not reliable or safe, but my case maanger and her supervisor are ridiculously hard to get a hold of and dont realize the importance of this. . The dealership I bought the car from has treated me terribly and hasn't given me good service in the slightest. One of the salesman cussed at me. And they won't fix my issues with the car, and the owner of the dealership told me "to just total it" to get rid of it, instead of helping me and making it right. I am very stressed about this because it has been going on for 6 months now. . . And I need a reliable car.
The front windshield wipers randomly stop working while it is raining out. This first started about a month ago. Sometimes they are fine for twenty minutes, other times it is 5 minutes. They will completely stop working and fold back down, as if I have turned them off. It has been taken to sears once, and spent two days at the Jeep dealership and they were not able to recreate it. I think it needs to be driven on the highway and raining for it to happen, maybe the force of the wind or road is the cause. No one can seem to figure it out and they do not have the technical skill to recreate it, I was told that nothing can be done and to bring it back when it happens . All the computers read that the wipers are fine, yet this keeps happening. Not being able to use wipers for even seconds is dangerous, and I am scared to drive now when it rains. I have recorded video on my cellphone of it happening, and still it is no use because they can not recreate it. This is a very stressful and frustrating situation, that could cost me my life if not addressed.

I live in WI and I have all my life. In February, here in WI, no doubt it's been cold. My windshield was fine that night. In the morning, my windshield and top of the Jeep was covered in snow. So as usual, when it's cold, I went to start my Jeep and let it heat up, as usual I put on defrost and went back into the house. I came back outside about 10 mins later to scrape off the snow, went back in got my son, we got into the Jeep, ready to go and we noticed (I do have pictures) I had a crack at the bottom of the windshield that ran from the passanger side, horizontal to driverside. I took it in and was told it looked like a common crack due to the cold. Okay, fine, I live in WI, it's cold, but I have had beaters of cars until I was out of college and I never once have had a windshield break due to the cold. I read another complaint on this web site were the back windshield just blew out. My insurance will cover, but it has a deductable and I feel Chrysler should cover it and I also feel they should but a little quaility for saftey purposes into the vechiles they are making.

My daughter called and said all of here lights were out both inside and outside Jeep. Windshield wipers did not work. Basically everything stopped working. She was able to start it and I told her to take it to the Jeep dealer in christianburg va. They checked it out and told her the control arm for the signals lights was broken but could not get a new one until Monday, this was Friday night. I told her to come home very slowly because it was raining. She made it home safely, I checked several Jeep forums and found out if you disconnect the battery and let the computer reboot it would fix the problem. Sure enough it did and saved me hundreds of dollars. Everyone should know this to keep from getting into trouble on the hwy. I have questioned the dealer in richmond about but they say they have never heard anything about it. The problem is there and some people know because they told me how to solve the issue. Please let everyone know about this issue both for safety and wasted money at a dealer.
My daughter called from collage to tell me her turn signals head lights dash lights and wipers had all stopped working. She took it to the local Jeep dealer who told her it was the turn signal switch and could not work on it until the following Monday. She had to come home in the rain, drive 250 miles with out turn signals, lights or wipers. This is a real problem that the Jeep needs to address and fix it. I started looking on line at some Jeep forums and found some things to try. The first one I tried got everything working for now still do not know what caused the origional issues though and Jeep is not going to admit to anything. All I did was unhook the positive cable to the battery and reset the on board control system for the Jeep. Please pass this info on it really helped my daughter and saved a fortune in unnessary parts and work from the dealer.
The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that the molding around the windshield was fractured. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the molding needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 6,000.
It began to rain so my girlfriend turned on the wipers only to find that she had no wipers. They will turn on sometimes, but only on the highest setting, yet at a less than minimal speed. We thought it could be a loose connection or something seeing as our vehicle is only 4 years old, but when we went to the Jeep dealership to fix it they said that there was nothing wrong with it the computer that they hooked it up to said it had no problems. Well guess what it still does it so what are we suppose to do about it now?.

It began to rain so we turned on our wipers only to find that we had no wipers. They will turn on sometimes, but only on the highest setting, yet at a less than minimal speed. We thought it could be a loose connection or something seeing as our vehicle is only 3 years old, but when we went to the Jeep dealership to fix it theft said it was the wiper computer module and would cost nearly 1000 dollars to fix. Unfortunately we did not have the money at the time to replace it.
The contact owns a 2010 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that while stopped, snow slid onto the windshield and completely blocked his field of vision. The windshield wipers were not strong enough to remove the snow from the windshield. The contact had to exit the vehicle and manually remove the snow from the windshield in order to regain visibility. The failure had since recurred on an intermittent basis during snowy weather conditions. The vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 2,000 and the current mileage was 15,000.
My 2007 Jeep Patriot continues to leak water from the interior. After being into the dealer 3 times in still leaks water from the front interior dome light, left and right front pillars. Water leaking into the car has caused electrical shortages in the sunroof, radio, and switches in the door.
