general problems of the 2017 Jeep Renegade - part 2

The windows on the Jeep Renegades over extend when putting them up, thereby tearing out the top of the housing causing leaks and possible electrical damage in the door panels. This also creates a whistle noise coming through the torn housing when driving. The ac works harder to heat and cool the cabin because of the poor air seal, causing drivers to burn more fuel and stress the components of the vehicle. I called my service department and got quoted me over $800 for two window seal repairs. He also told me that he see this on nearly every Jeep Renegade that comes in for service. This is a problem Jeep should be aware of as it is costing their customers expensive repairs. I purchased this car (2017 Jeep Renegade latitude 2. 4) November 2021 and noticed the problem after the purchase so, this problem was existing prior to my ownership.

The car is reading a electrical braking issue something with the electrical system that has been recalled with my year and model car.

My car is stalling as I drive. It is completely shutting off. I had recall w84 performed. The problem is believed to be the recall ub2. This has been confirmed by a dealer. I am afraid for my life and believe that this defect will likely cause a crash.

Instrument panel will show various light/warning issues when there is no problem.

The contact owns a 2017 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated that after she left her battery running, she returned to start the vehicle; however, the vehicle failed to start without warning. As she made multiple attempts to start the vehicle, she heard an abnormal ticking noise emit from the vehicle. The contact had her vehicle jump started and the vehicle resumed normal operation. As the contact began driving at 40 mph, the vehicle started to hesitate upon depression of the accelerator pedal without warning. The contact had yet to take the vehicle to be serviced or diagnosed. The dealer nor the manufacturer was yet notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

Vehicle stalled after overheating and now has a blown head gasket.

Cooling fan stopped working.

The contact owns a 2017 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated while driving 30 mph with the cruise control activated, the vehicle inadvertently slowed down with several unknown warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact stated that the cruise control disengaged and failed to re-engage. The contact then noticed that none of the electrical features in the vehicle was working. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic who stated that the vehicle was having electrical issues. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that the vehicle was experiencing the failure listed in NHTSA campaign number: 17v485000 (electrical system) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact stated that the manufacturer advised her to contact the NHTSA for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 93,000.

My vehicle has suddenly shown warning lights for brake light out, head light out, both turn signals out, running lights out. Basically saying all my lights suddenly burnt out. There is a recall on 2017 Jeep Renegades for the exact problem I’m having but it doesn’t show my vehicle included, it says no unrepaired recalls. They have determined this can cause an accident as the lights are not really out, and so the driver has no idea when the lights actually do go out. This is dangerous.

Transmission seems like its slipping when driving. Car jerks forward. . Lurging forward. . I had a car that had transmission problems so im aware of how car acts when its transmission problem. Also electrical problem. Car sound when music is playing jumps from all speakers sound coming out to just one speaker the passenger side speaker in front. .

The car decides when it wants to start and start. The car will shut off and lock up while driving and has put me in multiple dangerous situations. The check engine light turns on with the airbag light when it will not start. When it finally decides to start there is no cel on. Also, the bottom fog light went out due to faulty design and gasketing.

Manual trans 1. 4l. For approximately the last year, I've gotten an intermittent �service electric parking brake� message. I never had it looked at, I disconnected the battery and then it would go away. Also the car completely stopped turning off from accessory power mode. I couldn't just roll down the windows, I had to crank the car or the power wouldn't turn back off. Recently had check engine light with code p0807 �clutch position sensor circuit 1 low� showing. The next day, car was difficult to start. It took several tries pushing the start button and messing with clutch before it would turn over. I took it to a shop (not dealer) and they couldn't find anything or replicate the codes and told me it was a glitch. Next day I get the epb light again and used my code reader and it was showing p0807 and abs code c1220-86. So I located said switch and unplugged it, and boom. All the problem codes popped up again and I was able to turn the car off like normal. I removed the sensor and opened the cover on it. The carbon film inside was missing a section. Tested with a meter and the sensor lost voltage when sweep arm inside reached the broken spot. This is a problem that could leave you stranded somewhere if you didn't have the tools to reach and jump out this sensor. And of course clutch parts are not covered by warranty. Even though this is an obvious factory defect seeing as it's on the inside of a sensor that I couldn't reach without removing the panel under the steering wheel.

Nothing happened tinkering with this site to learn it.

The fog lights almost caught fire. The factory bulbs started smoking and I had to unplug them.

Vehicle will stall out when driving, going less than 40 miles per hour. System does not shut down. Does not seem to be a battery or electrical issue. Had this happen 3 times in a month. Pulled over into park & had to restart the car. Low oil pressure light came on. Took in for a routine oil change. Mechanic referred me to dealership as they could only determine a low oil consumption/ pressure. Terrible knocking sound in front as well. Very concerned as other Jeeps have been recalled for similar issues, but my 2017 Renegade latitude is not under the recall. Huge safety concern.

My 2017 Jeep Renegade has had issues with electrical failures for several years off and on. At times it will state that parking lights, headlights, and brake lights are not working and they really are. The radio will also go very loud then quiet or quit working all together. The air conditioner will stop working randomly and then start again. On another occasion it would not go out of park, the wipers would not shut off, and the windows were not working. It usually always randomly resolves but always occurs again. There is a known recall for the software which causes these exact issues but this VIN is not included. I have video of the malfunctions if needed.

While in motion the vehicle has shut off in the middle of the street numerous times. . Once while turning the vehicle has turned off.

My electrical power steering module is experiencing technical issues and my steering wheel locked while driving 55 mph on the highway.

There is a recall on the 2017 Renegade but somehow my Jeep isn’t on the list even though I am having the exact issue - they think the oil pump isn’t working correctly. The vehicle just stops driving when in drive. Which is terrifying. It happened twice and we contacted fca twice to have them do nothing. They said we have to drive the vehicle for 2000 miles in order to read the oil level - which is nuts. I can’t get in a vehicle that just stops working while driving, it’s a huge liability. It’s been sitting at the service department in a dealership for a year and a half and no one will help.

When turning left from a cold start vehicle stalls and shuts off. It says it needs to shift, but it is already in drive. You must shut the vehicle off and attempt to start it sometimes it takes five minutes for it to start. Now it says there are issues with the lights, like they are out but they are actually working. No work has been done on it before. Currently at the dealership. Have video.

I have tried to get in contact with someone to get my fuel pump fixed. I finally did today. But can't get in until nexta Friday. My car has stopped working completely while driving. I have had to wreck into mailboxes stop in the middle of the road, and almost be hit because my car stops working. I can't wait any longer. My car is a danger.

While driving car just shuts off. Must stop and put it in park to restart it.

My fog light has now caught fire and burned twice. The entire assembly has melted to pieces. This is a safety concern and can result in someone's vehicle burning to the ground and possible injury to someone. This is not ok that my fog lights are catching fire like they are doing that is from the manufacturer. I'm being held responsible for repairs also that's not ok as I'm not at fault for this occurring.

States "parking light" is out and it is and I cannot replace it. It also shakes when I get up to 70 mph.

I was driving my car as an automatic not shifting it. All of a sudden the info section says down shift as I was turning, I was in motion the whole time, I did not stop to turn. And it dies. Right in the road while driving. I have looked and my VIN doesnt come up as a recall but this OH my god I was lucky I was on a back road to be ok, if I had been on a busy road or interstate my family and I would be dead. What is wrong with it. I need this fixed ASAP. This is my only means of transportation. Help me!!!!!!!.

I was jumping ooff my gf car for the 10th time over a course of time, this time for some reason my Jeep caught fire and now is totaled and it also caused her car to catch fire. So not only did it damage my Jeep but damaged her car as well.

Within 6 months of purchasing new car,the computer needed to be replaced in dash-uses 1 qt. Oil every 2000 miles. Ive complained and complained to no avail-dealerships all say its �normal� now. The transmission is slipping . -when u go from a low speed to a higher speed. I took it to dealership and they think it needed an update ?also,oil was leaking around transfer case;I noticed spots on concrete when parked and the liquid was clear. This car has literally been a hunk of junk!.

My left rear signal burnt out. I thought it was the bulbs blown out but it wasn't. I am replacing the electrical board that connects to the wire.

Losing oil not getting 25,00 miles between oil changes car stalls and turns off until I get oil changed. Also dashboard alerts for lights out or service warnings but the lights are not out.

Cooling fan has been replaced twice in the last year and now on 3rd time going out.

Car stopped and totally shut off in the middle of an intersection. Luckily a man stopped and pushed my car. I had to shut it off and restart it. This would have been potentially fatal in a busy intersection.

Indicator lamp illuminating say that all my lights head lights, turn signals, back up light break lights and turn signals are all out, while driving down the street. I have video and photos but they are to big to upload and do not know how to make them smaller. I see there is a recall for this exact thing but not for my VIN number.

This doesn't matter if my vehicle is turned on or off. When stationary the Jeep Renegade will not lock or unlock from the key fob. Previously the key fob would work but I would have to repeatedly push the lock/unlock button. I have replaced the battery on the key fobs to no better results.

Backup camera is blacked out on screen. Shows graph lines.

Car is parked. It started with right rear door lock not locking with the key fob. We had to manually lock it from the inside. Key fob seems to work with all other locks but now none of the doors are locking. You can hear the locks engaging when pressing the key fob to lock but the doors do not lock at all.
