1 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2017 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 06/04/2025

Abs system issues: all warning lights come on - abs, traction control, parking brake (the yellow light as well as the red one. Red comes on an flashes then goes off), hill start, ect. . . Had codes ran that came back with several abs related codes as well as engine codes leading back to the abs system. Came up with right rear tone ring needs replaced. This is likely untrue as the lights come on and off leading me to believe it is more likely an issues with the speed sensor. This safety risk with this is that when the lights are on there is no traction control leading to it locking up an sliding even at low speed (few miles per hour when stopping at bottom of dirt/gravel drive way). There is also a power change lasting a few seconds while driving when the lights do go out. I have also had only a few times where the parking brake (e brake) will come on and stop me immediately when I first start to move forward.

2 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2021 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 02/01/2025

I am writing to file a formal safety complaint regarding my 2021 Jeep Renegade, which has been experiencing sudden, unprovoked automatic braking for almost a year. The issue began in spring [year], and over the past two months, it has become significantly more frequent. The vehicle brakes sharply on its own even when there are no obstacles, cars, or objects in front of us. This happens at normal driving speeds and creates a serious risk of rear-end collisions—especially dangerous on highways. We have a baby, and this malfunction has put our family in frightening situations multiple times. We’ve brought the vehicle to the dealer and service center several times, but they claim no error code shows up, so no repair is made. The car is currently at the service center again, and still no resolution. We’ve also requested assistance from our Jeep case manager, but no effective action has been taken. There are additional issues such •the door locks stop working after it rains, requiring us to use the physical key in the door. •the sunroof stopped working, even though it was replaced two years ago (this is currently being addressed, but remains part of the larger reliability concern). This automatic braking issue is the most urgent concern. The car is not safe to drive, and the lack of response from Jeep is deeply troubling. Please let me know if further information, service records, or documentation is needed.

The vehicle warning lights are on, for example the brake lights and turn signal, when these are working. The seat belt alarm goes off when seat belts are on. Vehicle has turned off when in an idled state. I have gone in to get these issues fixed and they came back.

4 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2023 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 05/02/2024

Seatbelt airbags braking system auto start lights all come on when I start it and when I’m driving, also had the front collision camera put me in at a complete stop when going 45 mph and sent me into the steering wheel.

5 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2022 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 04/16/2024

On January 8, 2024, while increasing my speed from 25mph to 35mph, my parking brake automatically engaged and brought my car to a stop in the middle of the road. I quickly turned the car off and back on, and because there were no warning lights or obvious issues, continued to drive. After I increased my speed above 35mph, 3 warning lights were on the dash: service airbag system, service auto park brake, and start/stop unavailable. I took my vehicle to a local dealership where they diagnosed the issue as a faulty seatbelt sensor. They replaced the seatbelt buckle on January 9, 2024. On April 16, 2024, these issues began to occur again. However, this time, the car did not register that my seatbelt was fastened and the warning light to put on my seatbelt came on along with the service airbag system, service auto park brake, and start/stop unavailable warning lights. On April 18, 2024, as I was driving up an incline, the traction control warning light came on intermittently, along with the sound system unavailable light. These issues did not contribute to a crash or injury, but the car is under a year old and has had multiple issues that cannot easily be diagnosed. My car is currently at a local dealership being inspected.

6 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2018 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 09/23/2023

While in park and the parking brake engaged, I then went to disengage my automatic parking brake, received a service automatic parking brake system and my brakes would not disengage. I could not move my car. After research this is a common problem with the automatic braking system. I could have been in a very dire situation where I needed to move my vehicle and I could not. It was very scary. I then had my car towed to the Jeep dealership on September 23, 2023 and they have yet to diagnose the issue. I did speak with a mechanic and he stated he has known of the issues and he thought there may be a recall issued. I can not find a recall but am in hopes that there will be one issued. As this is very unsafe especially if you’re in a situation where you need to get out of.

Parking brake shows need service as is stuck on. I haven't used the parking brake. This is the 2nd time this has happened. Had it in and repaired once. Always sticks while driving on a trip. 10 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 02/05/2022

It mostly happens in the morning. While I’m driving to work which is less than 5 minutes away from where I live. The car would just shut down while I’m driving, lights would flicker and the car will stop. I would have to wait a few minutes or more to restart the vehicle and the drives normal. I bought the car from carmax in may or June 2021. They told me there were no recalls. I look up the problem I’m having and found a previous recall about the same issue, on the same year, make and model. Need help.

11 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 06/24/2021

6/24/21 I backed out of my carport & my car jerked me very hard like something shifted. All error codes & lights came on, air bag (which did not deploy) e brake light was on, check engine & tire pressure the prnd light up simultaneously & flashed. I turned it off & back on, seemed fine I put in drive & drove in my circle driveway & suddenly it stopped accelerating even with me giving it gas then it took off & the e brake came on. Thank god I was in my driveway & not pulling into traffic when this occurred. My husband tried again when he got home & it did the same to him would go then just stop accelerating mid drive & e brake come along with all the flashing error codes & I mean every code it can throw it did. It was like it was going in & out of limp mode & the e brake would come on when it wanted to mid drive. It has been in service since 6/26/2021 when it was taken by tow to the dealer, as it was unsafe to try to drive. I do have an extended mopar warranty & im told they have contacted Jeep engineering team but have no answers. It’s been in their possession close to 40 days now. I will not feel safe at all if they fix this car due to that incident. I would either be dead or badly injured.

12 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2018 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 06/10/2021

I was in a accident was hit on driver side and none of my airbags deployed.

13 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 03/10/2021

Unknown. System failed to warn me that a car was approaching on my blind spot and if I had the warning it could have prevented an accident. Had a warning been given allowing me to know not to cross the lane I would have been more aware of the car approaching my lane and then the automatic emergency braking system could’ve kicked in to prevent this accident from happening in the first place.

14 Automatic Emergency Braking problem of the 2021 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 01/17/2021

On Sunday 1/17/21, I leased a car from the dealer listed above. I leased a 2021 fully loaded Jeep Renegade even after the horrible treatment from the rude impersonal salesperson - after only two days of having the car, we got begin having issue with it, the warning light on the dash that said, "stereo system unavailable". This malfunction caused all safety features to turn off as well as the special kenwood sound system that we paid extra for as a part of the luxury group add on. I looked into the issue myself and it stated that it had been going on in this car since the 2018 model. Since then, it has happened on and off daily. That Monday morning, we call the dealer and get an appointment for Tuesday morning. Tuesday morning, we drive in and leave the car there. They call back in the afternoon and tell us that there is no problem with the car, and they cannot replicate the problem- at this point we had opened a case with corporate. Later in the evening we get a call to come and get the car, we stated we did not want to pick up the car because it happens every morning and to keep the car overnight and try again tomorrow morning (Wednesday Feb. 27). We get a call from corporate that they are opening a case and they would also call us back on Wednesday. I get a call from the case manager explaining that this is a problem with all Jeep Renegades and that if we want a loner, I'll need to rent a car and get reimbursed by Chrysler. The safety features are disabled because of this malfunction! this is dangerous and unprofessional for a company of their caliber not only for our family but also for everyone buying these vehicles. If they will try and get over on us for this - what else will they try to take advantage of? as now we need to wait for an update (which I think it is only a tactic for losing time) for next quarter until they update their software on the car.
