Jeep Renegade owners have reported 5 problems related to cruise control (under the vehicle speed control category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Jeep stopped accelerating on the interstate going 75 on cruise control; we were in the passing line with semi trucks behind us so we has nothing choice but to pull over to the left shoulder until we could safely move the car to the right shoulder. Car continued to run, but would not accelerate. No check engine light. Car was towed to a dealership, diagnostic did not show any issues; I was told that it happened because it was hot and because I drove it more than 5 hours. Jeep is stuck 12 hrs from where I live and there are no parts available. Manufacturer and dealership refuse to give me a loaner car.

Takata recall. Was driving at 75 mph on cruise control when my Jeep slammed on the breaks. It then proceeded to have surges. No lights came on. It completely shut off but was still on. A error came on stating to service transmission. Took to a dealership that said it was needing an update with the computer. Went 340 more miles the next day and it done the exact same thing. Lost all power steering. No warning lights came on. Got towed and they told me no codes came up while plugged into the computer. Was then told it was the fuel pump and would be a two week wait. Was told it's been a very common thing with the 2017 Renegades so they're back ordered. I was also told that the dealership the day before bypassed something to send me on my way. Called Chrysler and they aren't helping at all. And I'm still 480 miles from my home. There should definitely be a recall on them. It will end up getting someone killed.

Hard shifts in the first few gears ( hard jurks) and also clunks. . When moving shifter into and out of park, nuterual, reverse and drive it clunks. . Hesitates to shift when stopped or slow moving. When on highway has alot of dragged has hard time keeping speed and when passing it take the vehicle few seconds to speed up, have to push peddle to the floor and after few seconds it finally speeds up. In cruise control its constantly having a hard time keeping its speed constantly jumping into higher gears to catch up to the set cruise setting. Every time I take it to the shop and ask whats going on they say its how the Jeep Renegade was made, its normal for it to do all this.

While driving in any condition (highway, street) the transmission slips, sometimes violently. It feels like I have been rear ended it slips so bad. This is a frequent occurrence. When taken to the dealer, they have placed the Jeep on their diagnostic computer and said nothing is wrong. The Jeep has just over 22,000 miles. This has been going on since about 15,000 miles. Secondarily, sometimes the cruise control fails to engage or reengage.
I purchased my 2015 Renegade latitude 6-speed manual transmission vehicle last fall and found that from the beginning at times I had difficulty getting it into gear. I've been driving manual transmission cars (all sedans until this) for nearly 35 + years so I'm familiar with how to shift etc. I knew and expected that there'd be a learning curve as every vehicle is different. But by now it should be resolved. Instead, it has worsened. I have maneuvered around the minor problems -those at lower speeds-having to downshift a few times when I needed to upshift (I rely on sound and the rpms as my guide). The car now has 6200 miles on it (a mix of back road driving with suburban streets and some highway) and it is now revving uncontrollably at times, throwing me out of cruise control, acting as if on ice when there is none, surging forward when I haven't accelerated. And the advertised 31/27 mpg has not happened. I am now down to 23 mpg. I will be dropping it off tomorrow for an oil change and for them to look at this revving problem and the low mpg. I am afraid to drive this car, which I love very much, aside from the problems btw. I am concerned because I see that there have been complaints listed on sites about just this thing and it is a reminder of the out of control acceleration problems of cars in years past (like with Audi). Please let me know what to do besides taking it into the shop. I see below that you ask when this happened: as I said, from the beginning-I noticed that when I backed out of my driveway and put it into first and then shifted into 2nd, I'd have to go back to first. Then, it would surge ahead as if it were in third or fourth. That has continued. . The scary issue is the revving in traffic last week. I have not driven it since then.
