2 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 10/22/2025

It began with vehicle warning lights, several, illuminating. They did not illuminate at exactly the same time (such as when a car stalls) they illuminated consecutively I. E airbag disabled, followed by, blind spot sensors unavailable, front collision, lane departure, power steering temporarily unavailable, park assist, lane departure. . . All unavailable. Finally, the check engine light. Driving 65 mph until the transmission decided to no longer shift properly, which resulted in driving 45 in an 70 mph zone. Turned off vehicle and restarted, it was fine for 50 miles and began the dashboard light show again, followed by almost stalling at a toll booth. It has been "repaired" 3 times in 3 months, by Chrysler Jeep . Including a new bcm. I believe this 2017 Renegade either was not recalled during the original recall in 2017 or 2018, was not repaired, or was repaired improperly. Everything else operates properly. My vehicle is in great shape. I have video documentation of these things happening. No photos though. I do have documentation from Chrysler Jeep, just not with me at the moment.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 04/26/2025

Vehicle was returning diagnostic code p0653 and p2138 it was taken to the dealership for servicing on 04/26/2025. Pedal position sensor was identified as the issue. Part was on national backorder for several weeks. And issue was repaired on 05/22/25. Vehicle was driven less than 100 miles and presented with the same issue on 06/26/2025 and was returned to the dealership for servicing. Service department reset the code and drove the vehicle for less than 100 miles, and indicated they could not reproduce the problem. Car was left at the dealership for a week for additional diagnostic. Car was picked up on 07/12/2025 from the dealership and on 07/15/2025 car was returned for third time to repair the issue with the same codes. A case was opened with stellantis. At this poin car is still being repaired for the same issue. When issue occurs car goes into limp mode, and runs at 50% throttle, and has on occasion completely lost power sometimes causing some safety concerns. Vehicle was able to drive in limp mode first two times, third time required towing to the dealership.

5 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 04/11/2025

After starting up the vehicle several dash lights turned on including check engine and power system indicator. The accelerator pedal would not provide throttle to the engine and vehicle was in limp mode. After reading codes p2138(throttle/pedal position sensor) and p0653(sensor reference voltage b circuit high) after dealer diagnostic it was determined that the accelerator pedal sensor was faulty and is being replaced. The issue appears common as the part is on nationwide backorder and the dealer has been waiting on the part for 4 weeks. The car is still not repaired.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 01/06/2025

My 2017 Jeep Renegade is at a dealership for the third time. When I am accelerating at around 29 mph, there is a sudden jerk. It also occurs around 53 mph. It startles me every time this event occurs. Each time, I pay a deductible and the problem isn't fixed. Retirement isn't conducive to $500 repair bills. Can you help? this is definitely a problem with this model and needs to be rectified.

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2018 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 11/17/2024

My speedometer will change from mph to km on its own while I am driving. It will also keep changing back and forth making it a driver distraction. My dash screen is also going bad. I will definitely take it in for an inspection. I pulled into a rest area to assess what was going on with the electrical problem. There were not any warnings at all. It just happened so I have not informed anyone yet.

8 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2021 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 11/17/2024

Driving my Jeep to work and a bunch of warning lights come on - air bag, power steering, camera, front collision detection, abs system, parking brake, etc. I also lose power steering. Mechanic cannot find cause and all modules appear to be working - codes clear and return after about 30 miles of driving. Car isn't safe to drive and has been in the shop for 11 weeks with no answers. It is about to come back to sit in my driveway - and I will have to continue to make payments on a car that isn't drivable and may never be again. Since electrical issues seem to be prevalent with the vehicle - there should be a recall to protect driver safety.

9 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 08/24/2024

My car has been struggling to speed up and now recently struggling to start. It did show a ads light when trying to start and also something about a vehicle dynamic system.

10 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2018 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 07/29/2024

Engine stall. The first time it happened I was going about 35 mph down the street and the car quit accelerating. Engine still running all the lights on did not notice any warning lights. Coasted into a parking lot. Turned off car and restarted and drove 1/2 block home. Read online to start car in auxiliary mode three or five times. Did that and did not have a problem. About 3 or so weeks later, it happened on the highway and almost caused a wreck. Very scary! I got to the side of the road 3 times. Restarted and barely would start driving and it would happen again. Had car towed to dealership and started claim with Jeep. They can not duplicate the problem and find no codes. Other issues: passenger car entry warning, head module? or display will call people randomly, change radio stations and the reverse camera will come on while I'm driving, needs new struts ( only drive highway and in town ), uneven tire wear, auto windshield wipers does not work. Slow to shift out of first gear and jolts car when it shifts. Been at dealership for 3 weeks +.

11 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2018 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 04/20/2024

The turbocharger went out at 75k. Had it replaced just after the #2 cylinder went bad. Vehicle is unable to get to highway speeds and is very slow to accelerate. It is not due for an oil change for another 5k miles.

12 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 03/14/2024

Was sitting in a drive through and car started smoking. It stopped after I shut everything down. Then another time it overheated after driving for seven minutes had to stop. Air conditioning doesn’t work . Engine light on. Just bought from dealer with 20000 miles like a lemon. So not right.

Failure Date: 01/01/2024

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated that while shifting from drive(d) to park(p), the vehicle continued to accelerate or reverse unintendedly. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who informed the contact to go to settings and choose brakes, and while parking, the parking brake engaged, but the driver needed to manually release the parking brake. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000.

14 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2020 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 07/02/2023

While driving my 2020 Jeep Renegade it will just shut itself down with no warning. I was on the freeway going 60 mph when the car just shut off causing me to have to pull over on the side of the freeway (which is illegal) and then having to restart the car - this happened 6 times in a matter of 24 hours causing me to have to bring my Jeep to the dealership. I was told that there are more electrical issues that will nee dot be addressed but that the main reason for the shut off weas due to not enough oil in the car even though I just had an oil change and was not due for some time. Why would the car just shut off with no warnings? at least a low oil level light would be better than just shutting down.

16 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 11/03/2022

Just purchased this Jeep August 31, 2022. This is the 2nd time that while driving the vehicle suddenly shows very high rpm and will barely move. Could the previous repair to the engine recall have failed? I have an appointment to take the vehicle for service again. The first time the dealership said they did updates to fix the problem.

17 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 08/06/2022

I was on the expressway and all of a sudden I couldn’t accelerate. The engine completed died. I just used a little smarts to get off before it completely stopped. No warning lights no warning at all.

18 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 06/14/2022

The uconnect screen has gone completely black. The uconnect screen in this vehicle controls every feature on the vehicle. It controls my speedometer. This feature is now stuck in canadian reading so I can't tell how fast I am driving. This controls my millage. Again it is in canadian milage, I don't know how many miles I have on my vehicle. This feature controls my back up camera. This controls every feature in my vehicle. I have no control over anything now.

19 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 06/01/2022

The Jeep will not accelerate as expected, it may have to do with the throttle bottle. This lack of acceleration or hesitation while accelerating, can lead to unsafe driving conditions. Under normal driving conditions, I need to be able to accelerate to pass a car, to merge onto the freeway, and be able to handle stop and go traffic without hesitation. I am afraid I may cause an accident if I continue to drive the Jeep. I will be biking as much as possible to avoid driving it in this condition. The dealer performed a diagnostic and admitted there was a problem, but I was told there was no know "fix" for it at the time. No one else has inspected the Jeep. There have been no warning lights at all.

20 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 05/14/2022

While at an intersection as I was turning left across the side of oncoming traffic my vehicle completely stalled in the middle of the road the gas pedal was stuck and would not accelerate and then a code on my dash appeared service throttle body, after 45 seconds the code went away and the veh was finally able to accelerate so I could move out of the middle of the oncoming traffic side of the road. I then proceeded to go straight until I could find a parking lot to pull into. Right before I was able to pull into the parking lot the Jeep did the same thing again. Would not accelerate, I put on my flashers, the same dash code came back on service throttle body and after 45 seconds the Jeep went back to acting fine. I was finally able to pull into a parking lot and turn off the Jeep.

21 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2020 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 05/04/2022

Went to pass someone car wouldn’t shift or pick up in speed several times, on interstate as well as on highways. Expressed concern to dealer, didn’t perform testing, cleared codes. Getting gas, vehicle didn’t recognize shut off gas spilled everywhere all over the vehicle and the parking lot today shut off 4x while driving. 2 times Jeep threw vehicle into park via the emergency break while driving. 2 times Jeep just shut down and stopped. Had trouble starting aging after just shutting off. Vehicle being towed to another dealer today.

22 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 02/12/2022

The evaporative emissions system (evap system), including components such as the charcoal canister, purge valve, and/or fuel tank venting system, appears to be malfunctioning. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. After refueling the vehicle completely, it will stall or shut off unexpectedly while driving, which could cause a collision, particularly in traffic or at highway speeds. This sudden loss of power places myself, my passengers, and other drivers at significant risk. The vehicle has been inspected by an independent mechanic, but not by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. No warning lights, error messages, or advance symptoms were present prior to the vehicle stalling. The issue first occurred around 2022.

23 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 02/01/2022

While driving, car comes to a complete stop and stalls when accelerating. Dangerous during oncoming traffic whether it's the pedestrian or the cars surrounding me. Car won't move instantly upon pressing on gas pedal-- it stalls for a bit before moving.

24 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 05/05/2021

This car comes almost to a dead stop and stalls when accelerating. Its dangerous because it will stall right as I'm entering traffic and attempting to get up to the speed of traffic during a time when all other cars around me are also accelerating, it's happened since the first day I bought the Jeep I've already filed a complaint. These engines should be recalled.

25 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2021 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 03/15/2021

When traveling with the cruise control on, on the expressway, the speeddometer started to flicker on and off then totally went off. It lasted a couple of seconds and when it came back on my speed was at 55 mph. I was traveling at 75 when it started. This happens alot. Also the radio will sometimes blast its volume, change stations on its own or won't shut off. Last week my rear window went down and wouldn't go back up. These things happen occasionally but after shutting off the car and waiting it seems to clear for awhile. I took it into the dealer and was told there was nothing they could do, they had to wait for a fix for the software from Chrysler. I spoke with people from Chrysler and they told me the same thing. I leased this car in March and it is now August. How long do I have to wait for a fix? I am getting scared driving this car.

26 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2020 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 02/02/2021

Go to step on gas to accelerate my Jeep it will limp backwards on speed then all of a sudden take off like a rocket, jerking everybody in the car like g force, jerking head & necks, also driving down the road car has several times shut completely off, having me to pull vehicle over to side of road, & restarting the car. I I’ve had radio system shut completely off by itself for no reason. I have had the vehicle in to shop several times, they put on computer system, to recheck and redo computer, they call me to pick it up next day & still jerking like g- force hesitating & taking off like a rocket, took it back three times they said they put power steering fluid in it, well guess what not fixed. I have less than 30k miles on vehicle, & this has been going on since under 11k miles. Now when you stop and put vehicle in park the vehicle jumps forward & backwards, like you slammed your brakes on, several times my car has almost hit my garage door or in a parking garage the wall, or a parked car, the steering is very loose, & touchy, also noise like clunking in the wheel well, my friend said sounds like the springs. The tie rods & wheel bearings have been checked and are fine, now I’m scared the springs may break & drop the car around the wheels. I don’t drive far my town, is 5 minutes away so like 20 miles when I go out, I’m retired so car is just driven to the store or family’s. Sometimes I’m scared to drive it. My fiancé that just passed away sept 2023, said the jerking g/force is something to do with the drive train, transmission. The car shutting off is a dangerous thing to happen when your driving down the highway. I feel this 2020 Jeep has a lot of dangerous complications. I’m not sure if someone has gotten seriously hurt yet, but from what I’ve heard a couple of my friends had same problems & traded in & reading people complaints have same problem, power train should be recalled. This car is a big headache, that I can’t afford. I feel you need to replace my car.

27 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 01/14/2021

My vehicle's passenger tire was improperly mounted by the manufacturer. It has led to the engine mounts becoming worn, causing the camshaft to be worn at only 71,213 miles, and the drive shaft becoming broken. This has been documented by a repair shop and a Jeep dealership service center says that this is the third time that they have seen this issue and attribute it to the tire being improperly mounted by the factory. This is also a known issue documented in videos and online forums. This is a matter of safety and could cause catastrophic failure while driving. The manufacturer has been notified but have not yet acknowledged that this warrants a recall, which it should.

28 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 12/11/2020

While driving in the mountains, a transmission warning light followed by a check engine light flashed on the dash. I figured it was a maintenance warning. The further I drove, it became apparent that I was losing the ability to accelerate. In the mountain range there is no cell service and it was dark as well as fearful drivers would come up behind me on a curve without my ability to go hwy speeds, leaving me to feel very unsafe. The further I drove, the less ability I had to accelerate. By the time I reached the freeway, my ability to accelerate was very compromised. When I reached the freeway, it was congested, playing in my favor since I could not accelerate well. When starting from a stop, the engine was getting up to 2000+ rpms to go 15 mph. I had it towed to the dealership. I was told that if it was the transmission, it would be covered under a warranty the Jeep extended, but since this involves the brain of the transmission it is not a covered repair.

29 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2018 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 08/29/2020

I purchased my 2018 Jeep Renegade in Feb of 2019. I had under 5k miles on it and took it on my first road trip. I made it to colorado and the vehicle stalled while driving at least 12 times. There were no warning lights or anything. I had the vehicle taken to 4 different dealerships and no codes or issues were found. I dealt with fca which was a nightmare, and all they offered was a free warranty. I let them know I dont feel safe in my vehicle multiple times. I then took my vehicle on the first road trip this weekend to lubbock and once again it stalled out 4 times while driving 75 mph. I dropped it off at the dealership yesterday and no issues were found again. There is a safety recall on this vehicle for the exact same issues yet my VIN doesn't fit the recall list. This is unacceptable and I want it fixed immediately. I could die from this vehicle stalling while driving at high speeds. Please get someone to help me.

30 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 08/23/2020

35 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 04/07/2020

I was driving when this incident happens on a highway or when I drive in the city. When I go to accelerate usually it happens when my vehicle is going slow for example at a yield sign or at a rotary. I will then press the accelerator and it feels like the transmission is slipping and more times than I'd like to remember someone has almost hit me because they were anticipating me proceeding but when I step on the gas it feels like the transmission slips and I don't go anywhere except I just keep rolling very slowly. I've even floored the gas pedal when this has happened to avoid collision and still my vehicle would not accelerate!! after a few seconds it feels like something is catching or kicking in and the Jeep will kind of jerk and then I will be able to use the accelerator pedal again because it works again! I have a 2016 Jeep Renegade.
