Vehicle Speed Control Problems of Jeep Renegade - part 2

Jeep's skid control system malfunctions. It activates in perfectly dry weather with dry pavement, as I'm accelerating. This causes the car to slow to almost a complete stop at exactly the time it should be accelerating. The skid control light blinks on the dashboard to show that it's in use. This is happening on a daily basis.

I sent 1 service record. I have 3 more if needed. Jeep still is unsafe I was on a busy street at 5pm at a stop light. When I put foot on gas the car would not move then it started out inching away and finally got moving. It took at least 8 or 10 seconds to get passed the green light and the car behind me was way to close and could have been an accident. I have had it looked at 4 or 5 times and all thats been done is updates and replaced a valve body part. I have an attorney and filed suit against Chrysler. This Jeep is not safe to drive and they dont care. They are going to wait til someone dies then they will get on this issue. I dont know why my Jeep was not in the last recall for transmission but it should be, and they should not be allowed to resell this Jeep or the 2015 Renegades period. They are not safe. There are many complaints about this transmission and still no recall. Its been 4 yrs with this Jeep running like its 30 yrs old and I am paying 41000 for it. Do missouri a favor,get these 9speed transmissions off the road, they are causing major stress and hardships to the owners. The speed in this Jeep is unpredictable. I was on a city street driving at 35 mph and as soon as I was going down a big hill the car sped up way more than the usual down hill speed. They all go a little faster but this was like it was trying to go above 55 and was praying it would stop and it did. But when will the day come that it wont . . . I will not live to tell if it ever happens. Sad. And all I wanted was a way to get to work,. And all Chrysler cares about is getting paid .

I had just left for work today, driving on the street, when 2017 Jeep Renegade desert hawk suddenly stalled I was able to coast to the side of the road. A message came on the dashboard with instruction to put the vehicle in park and press start button. I did so and the engine tried to start, but didn't. Tried a second time and engine sputtered and eventually started. Low oil pressure light has also been flashing on when making quick turns. Only stays on a couple of seconds. This then happened again after I had just left work. Purchased vehicle new, I'm the only driver and it has 20,500 miles. About a year ago, the same happened. I told the dealer shop, when I was getting an oil change, about this issue. They said nothing was wrong with the vehicle. This issue occurs when I first start it in the morning and when it has been sitting awhile and I start it (like when I go home from work).

Sputtering, hard starting, bad gas mileage, low or bad acceleration, misfires, just bad running.

On two occassions while the vehicle was in drive operating on a two lane highway and remained in the drive position with the vehicle in motion the transmission indicator on the display shifted to neutral and the rpms revved without the accelerator pressed and the engine cut off. No codes or check engine lights indicated. The shifter remained in the drive position. The car had to be guided off the roadway and placed into park to be restarted. Vehicle was slow to restart both times. Both incidents occurred after entering a highway into the flow of traffic and accelerating and presented a danger to all drivers.

I have had my car just under 2 year, purchased new. When purchasing the car I asked if they would install a remote start and was told to just take it to car toys. We did almost a year later. We are at 1 yr 10 mths and just over 26,00 miles. Just recently the car stated stalling in the middle of traffic. I would have to put it in park to be able to start going again and then it lags to get going and quits shifting. The check engine light comes on and stays on. Sometimes it flashes though several errors, too fast to read them all. I have had the car in to the original dealer 3 times and another dealer once. I was told it needed a computer update, the wiring harness needed fixed and other things. They said it was fixed the first3 times. This last time they are telling me it is the after market starter, they think. They cannot guarantee it will fix the problem but now they are saying nothing is under warranty. The after market starter has been on there 11 months without issue. The first time this happened was 9/26. 19. The current date is 11/13/19. This is a safety issue. Most times I have small children but have been luck to be by myself each time the car has stalled.

Driving down the road the car lost power, oil pressure light came off, lost power steering, car shut down. Wouldn't start. Checked oil, called tow truck. I had to push the car back to get it off the road while my husband backed it up to get it off the road. Tow truck got there, put can in neutral, engine light came on and wouldn't go off, car wouldn't turn off emergency brake, pushed it 20 or so times, emergency brake finally turned off so we could back up the car so the tow truck could get it front of it to tow. Car is now at the dealership. We have had nothing but problems with this car and it is dangerously unsafe. The car was in the dealership already this summer for weeks for electrical lights going off and the car continuing to run without the key in the ignition. The Jeep Renegades need to be took off the road.

Tl-the contact owns a 2018 Jeep Renegade latitude. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle started to shake violently and started to loose acceleration. No warning indicators illuminated. The contact stated also that the failure occurred two other times. If you have small children do not load them in this Jeep! when accelerating from a dead stop will struggle to get up to speed and sounded like I was rear ended at a high speed. I got out of the Jeep to see if something fell off. Transmission sounds and feels like its slipping. Not every time but it happens so often it has made me feel unsafe and I do not go out of town or long trips over 45 miles away from home. . Every time I take it to the shop and ask whats going on they say its how the Jeep Renegade was made, its normal for it to do all this.

Gas pedal/acceleration will not engage when vehicle is in reverse, in a certain circumstance. This happens every time after I first start the vehicle, place it in reverse, and coast/roll backwards (out of my driveway, into the road, into traffic). Slamming my foot on the gas pedal results in no acceleration, so I just roll slowly into the road. Vehicle will accelerate normally after I then shift to drive. Not being able to quickly accelerate in reverse when leaving for work every morning is an obvious safety concern. I took this to my dealership, and they were able to replicate the issue. They then tested this issue on 2016 Renegade, 2017 Renegade, and 2018 Renegade. The 2016 and 2017 Renegades had this same issue. The 2018 Renegade reportedly did not have this issue. My dealership spoke with a Jeep engineer that has investigated this issue before, and tried replacing the entire transmission system as a solution. That didn't fix the issue, so the engineer claims that it's "working as designed. " clearly it's designed unsafely. I have included my dealership's notes indicating that they were able to reproduce the issue and my (and other) Renegades. And that they ended up diagnosing this as "issue is normal no problem found. ".

Was driving to newnan, GA on highway when car jumped into neutral causing car to slow almost ending in a rear-end collusion. I am a cancer patient and drive from brooklet, GA to newnan GA for treatment. Also was told my vehicle is recall due to the coolant system not working properly.

When driving at long periods of time at higher rpm's (2500-3000), especially when driving on an incline, transmission appears to shift hard, not go into gear properly, or just simply go into neutral, and slow the vehicle down rapidly. When traveling on the decline, there were no problems whatsoever. Vehicle has 4800 miles on it. Spoke to dealer, and service tech informed me it wasn't the first time he's heard this complaint.

While driving the car speed will shift kind of like from neutral to first and so for. While driving on the street and stopping at a stop sign I try to accelerate the car will but it will not accelerate on time and almost produces a crash. While on the turnpike I try to accelerate but it will not accelerate promptly, it feels as if it gets stuck and then it gives a big kick. While at another stop sign on other days, the car does not accelerate and gives a kick and proceeds to move in a slow motion then give another kick and continue to move. It feels as if the shift shifts on their own and acceleration does not respond on time. Another day I was driving with my child in the back seat and I was at a stop sign. It was my turn to go and as I slowly accelerated the vehicle will give a kick and proceed to move slowly. On another instance, I stoped at a red light and when the light turn green I proceeded to move, the car gave another slow kick and eventually decided to accelerate again it does not matter how intense I press on the accelerator it still takes a while for it to respond and avctually starts accelerating. It's been an ongoing problems and am genuinely scared to drive the car for I feel one day it might not accelerate on time on a traffic light or stop sign or on the road. While am parked nd change the shift from parking to drive, the car again gives a quick and then decides to move. It's a scary experience to feel that the car I drive and am. Paying for will not accelerate on time while on the road, at a green light, on turnpike while stuck in traffic or while trying to get out of my parking lot.

I purchased a 2018 Jeep Renegade at the end of July 2018, it had worked well until the end of June 2019. I was on a road trip from south carolina to colorado and I was on the road for a week with no issues, but on June 28th as I was driving on I-70 through kansas at about 80 mph when my engine began to stall out. At first it was dropping about 10 - 15 mph, but then it was quickly dropping 30 - 40 mph. I was able to make it into the right most lane, but a check engine light and service transmission light appeared on my dashboard while my engine stalled out completely. I had to restart my car a few times, but after a few restarts the notifications disappeared. Every time the engine stalled out, I would lose the use of my gas and brake pedals. The electronics were still working, but driving was non-responsive. I was able to safely nurse my car into the nearest city and eventually get towed to the nearest Jeep dealership. The dealership was able to look at the Jeep the next day (June 29th) and did some computer diagnostics and told me that the Jeep was good to go. I made it about 180 miles and had just gotten back onto I-70 in colorado when the issue returned. Engine stalled out, dropped speed to zero mph and pedals became unresponsive. I had to wait several hours to be towed to aurora, CO to a Jeep dealership (larry h miller Jeep). My Jeep was with larry h miller from June 29th to July 3rd. They told me that they drove it several hundred miles, despite my odometer not matching their information, and told me that there was no issue with my Jeep. I made it 10 miles from the dealer before the stalling issue returned. This almost caused a crash on a congested narrow highway in denver, CO. When I called the dealer, they told me they couldn't help and to see another dealer. I was towed to a third dealer, who was also not able to find any issue.

I have had to take in my vehicle to our dealership twice within 2 months on the same issue. The car has been sputtering at idle and also when accelerating. When the car is traveling in between 25-30mph the transmission gets a hard kick, it almost feels as if you are getting hit from behind. They have replaced the throttle body, ignition coil, spark plug wires, and spark plugs. The vehicle is under 32,000 miles and is mostly driven in town, I feel it is unsafe to drive out of town because it shakes violently when traveling at 65mph or higher.

Car only has 4000 miles ( still like new). Once incident I had was trying to make a turn I slowed down then when attempting to accelerate the car wouldnt go . I had to pull over and completely turn off the vehicle. Has happen 3 times in less than one week. Ive made several attempts to contact dealer and service dept, but no call backs.

My stalled 3 times in 2 weeks. Twice I was slowing to take a turn-this happened a week apart in the same exact turn. Twice I was driving about 20 mph. This happened on 4-21-19, 4-27-19 and 4-30-19. I have approx 5200 miles. I called Chrysler and they said there were no recalls, that I probably do not need an oil change (she checked on this information). When the light goes on or 7-8,000 miles I should schedule one. No dash indicator lights come on. Each time I am able to guide my car out of traffic. I shut off radio, wipers and all electrical and after I hit to restart it sounds like it is really trying, but it eventually does start. I stalled this morning (5-1-19) and I was almost rear ended as it was so sudden. The car behind me had to swerve. I put on my hazards. I called Chrysler corporate because my dad hears something about the 2. 4l engine being recalled. Chrsyler corporate told me to bring it to the dealer and either way should be covered (warranty or added to recall). The dealer had no record of recalls and said I needed an oil change. That is ridiculous that needing an oil change could be such a dangerous thing. I find that hard to believe. I have had this Jeep since oct 2018. I am very scared now. I commute to boston in the tunnels and on the tobin bridge during busy rush hour. So disappointed these dangerous problems are happening - and so soon after purchasing. My customer care # from my call into Chrysler (fca - fiat Chrysler automobiles), which they closed even though it wasn't resolved, is 57585393. Called them 4-30-19 also, sometimes when I turn my wheel to take a sharp turn a bell dings one. It has happened about 6 times since owning.

Changing gears is sometime not very smooth. The car seem to jerk or jump in to gear. It does not do this all the time just occassionally.

I bought my Jeep with 17miles on it. Since I have had it I have had many reacurring problems. 1st around the 8000 mile mark my Jeep started skipping gears like when you shift a old ten speed bike. Brought it to dealership it took a week or so and got it back the had to reprogram the shifting module?? then 2nd as I was driving my car it would just lose power and shut off, not fun when driving on the highway going 60mph. I called the dealer they said they didn't know why it did this. A few day later I was crossing a intersection and it did it again. And I almost got hit by a semi truck. This was at about 30000 miles. When I brought it to the dealership they said I had a oil problem. And that is why. They replaced top end of my engine?? well what about the bottom? now I'm at 50000 and all the problems that I had are happening again it is bucking when shifting. Randomly shutting off. I'm feed up. And my car isn't covered under a warranty any more. As of now I have a beautiful large car payment on a car that is two years old that I don't think is going to last as long and my payments. I'm scared to drive it. I'm scared to drive my daughter around in it.

A few months after purchase all the lights on my dashboard and headlights constantly flicker, they get really bright and then they dim down, the acceleration does not work if I slowdown to 5 miles per hour or less, it stalls until I come to a complete stop. My emergency break, seat belt and airbag maintenance lights go off at random times when I first start my car, the dealership cannot duplicate the acceleration issue, and they are not seeing error codes for the airbags, seat belt and emergency break but they have attempted to repair the dashboard lights at least 3-4 times with no permanent solution.

I hoped you would listen as I explain to you in detail that the Jeep Renegade my niece bought at wilder Toyota in port angeles washington the is dangerous. The vehicle by the way -that has almost caused her and her son to be in four accidents due to its sudden deceleration at 50 mph to 30mph with no warning. Here is the �fixes� for the same problem that never addressed the reason the vehicle continues to do the same thing. Nothing is fixed. Also it has broken down four times -the last time on the hood canal bridge which stopped traffic in both directions and a tow truck had to come out on the bridge to tow it alll the way back to wilder Toyota in port angeles. She has had to have it towed back to wilder Toyota four times and they have not fixed it at all. Now apparently you would like her to drive it away away tomorrow???? and apparently this time it's fixed because the �oil got changed�? what?? that's not the problem (yyyy). The problem is that the car is going to kill someone if not (xxxx) then someone else. Why would you threaten her that she has to bring back the loaner when whatever is wrong has not been addressed?? are you listening to her when she tells you she's is afraid of driving that vehicle due to the numerous problems and scary situations it has put her in? are you listening to me ? Chrysler needs to do the right thing and buy that car back before it kills someone white this vehicle off of the road immediately before it kills my niece and her 3yo son. While driving my car many times the car stalls out. I have brought it to the dealership a number times and they still yet can not diagnose the problem. Before the car stalls out while I'm driving at lower speeds as well as accelerating on a highway, a message pops up and says vehicle not in park and then jerks me forward and completely shuts off. It also stalls going uphill as well then the dash message appears to come on and says park disabled press break pedal to start engine. I am very upset and this problem needs to be addressed as soon as possible for the concern of my own safety as well as others.

Multiple warning messages illuminate the dash, such as check engine, check brake, and countless others. Also the car locks up and will not start or will only go in reverse. This happens upon attempting to start the vehicle and also while actively driving it. The vehicle has been taken to the dealership over 6 times for the same issue and multiple software updates have been performed and the tcm has been replaced but the issue keeps occurring. Customer service for the manufacturer has been contacted and a corporate technician has been involved and also an in flight recorder was temporarily installed and it provided numerous error codes but no one is seems to be capable of determining how to fix the issue or what exactly is causing it.

I have seen a recall for the 2017 Jeep Renegade where the engine is stalling. This is an issue with the 2016 and 2015 as well. I have a 2016 and mine has stalled numerous times, but today it almost got me and others on the road, killed. I was turning onto a roadway and it stalled to a stop in the middle of the road. I have talked with other local Renegade owners that all have the same issue. Why aren't the other, previous years included in on the recall since we all have this issue? I have made my family aware of this issue, so if anything happens to me while driving, they know where to go, legally. I am so disappointed, because this was supposed to be my safe fix over my vw beetle convertible - I felt safe in that over this vehicle. I am now stuck with a car that I am frightened to drive and will most likely need a repair for a known issue, but I will get to foot the bill. I have just scheduled a diagnostic test with a dealership, just to be reimbursed when the recall is issued.

This car is eventually going to kill someone. The accelerator chooses when to work. My car has 35000 miles on it and when I am turning or on the highway or just driving normally, pressing down on the accelerator it has a two to three second delay before it will engage. The dealerships won't help me and it has almost caused me to get into numerous accidents with my three year old son in the car! many people are having the same issue. Also as of today I am having to replace the radiator fan for the third time. It has burned up twice before! how unfair to buy a new car and have to have these outrageous expenses and safety issues!!! this has to be fixed.

After filling gas tank, I tried to start car and it took a couple of tries to get it to crank over. Once it started, the car was making an intense knocking noise and sputtering so violently it actually caused the whole car to rock. After a few minutes it settled down and I pulled onto the street and the car just died. . . No light indicators at all and the instrument panel looked as if the car was turned off. Again it took a couple of tries, but the car finally started and began knocking and sputtering about, then settled down. I entered the freeway onramp and noticed when I let my foot off the accelerator, the car would essentially die while going 60 miles an hour. I got off the freeway and by the time I stopped on the offramp, the car had died again. I had to put on my hazard lights for about 3 minutes until the car started again. I drove to a parking lot and pressed the onboard button for roadside assistance. They came and towed the car to the dealer. The outside temperature was 67 degrees and there was a slight rain sprinkle. Before I got gas, the car was fine. I had 1/4 of a tank and the gas light had just come on. I had never used valero gas before and for some reason it took 13. 5 gallons to fill the tank that already had a 1/4 of a tank in it. In the past the most I have fueled up while on less than 1/8 of a tank was 11. 8. I'm not sure the fuel situation matters, but I thought I would mention it just in case. This issue was really scary and unnerving. The car has 4500 miles on it.

When turning or veering at semi-low rates of speed (15-35 mph), traction control light flashes repeatedly and all power to accelerator is lost for about 5-10 seconds. This has repeatedly put me in extremely dangerous situations. Despite taking it to the dealership and finding many others have this same issue, dealer claims nothing is wrong and said problem was fixed after a refresh update for both computer systems. It is definitely not fixed as it happened today and I was almost t-boned in an intersection. Only has 23,120 miles on it and still under Jeep warranty. This began a month after purchase.

When driving I slow to make a turn, when trying to accelerate during the turn the engine will not respond to the gas pedal being pressed and the traction control light flickers on the dashboard. Has happened at numerous speeds when turning. I get stuck in the middle of a turn with traffic coming at me. I have had the vehicle to the dealer twice now and they keep telling me nothing is wrong with it. Very serious safety issue. Vehicle has 7,100 miles on it.

When I'm driving my vehicle will not speed up. I press on the gas and it keeps going at the same speed. When I brake it pulls, like if I was repeatedly pressing and letting go of the brakes. The wheels have worn out twice, having had new cars before and driving the same roads and distance I know this is not normal. I have fixed my breaks once wich is unusual for how new this car is and now my breaks are making squeaking noise.

The contact believed that her vehicle was being hacked. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 4,700.

The vehicle was towed to galeana Chrysler Jeep dealer, located at 180 greystone blvd, columbia, SC 29210, where the vehicle was diagnosed but the technician could not find a code. The technician also informed the contact that the failure could be the fuel pump or the fuel injection. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist her with the problem and did not offer any further assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 4,000.

Sometimes when turning the traction control light turns on and the car will not accelerate even when the accelerator is depressed - lasts momentarily then corrects itself.

Jeep is consistently jumping into gear when placed in reverse. Most recently, while at a stop light, with my foot on the break it lung forward! (ungood). While driving, periodically gets stuck in a gear. (?). At least twice, the car has refused to turn over upon ignition engagement. Since I have obtained the Jeep, anything that has to do with the stereo gives me intermittent signals/sound, inclusive of the usb connections etc. (not a good experience). The driver's seatbelt for some reason occasionally will not latch. Something in the undercarriage sounds as if it is going to fall of or break at any time especially when going over bumps or ruff terrain.
