Vehicle: 2024 Jeep Wagoneer (base model) the vehicle has experienced ongoing and progressively worsening engine performance failures, specifically involving unstable rpm behavior and loss of power during idle and re-acceleration from idle. These defects have been present on multiple occasions and occur under normal operating conditions. While stopped at traffic signals or intersections, the vehicle frequently exhibits sudden and erratic rpm fluctuations, followed by a sharp drop in engine speed resulting in complete engine shutdown. These shutdown events have occurred both while the vehicle is in park and while actively positioned in traffic, creating a hazardous condition. In several instances, the engine stalled unexpectedly while the vehicle was stopped at a red light, requiring an immediate restart in an active traffic environment. In addition, when transitioning from an idle state to acceleration, the vehicle has demonstrated abrupt surging and jerking behavior, causing sudden forward movement. This creates a significant risk of unintended acceleration and near-collision events, particularly in congested traffic conditions or when stopped closely behind another vehicle. The vehicle was presented to an authorized Jeep dealership for inspection. The dealership advised that no diagnostic fault codes were present and no defect could be identified. However, during the dealer’s evaluation, the vehicle did stall while being allowed to roll into the service bay in an idle state, directly corroborating the reported condition. Despite this occurrence, no corrective repair was made, and the vehicle was returned without resolution. The frequency and severity of these symptoms have increased over time, resulting in a vehicle that is unreliable and unsafe to operate. The continued occurrence of engine shutdowns and erratic acceleration behavior presents a clear and ongoing safety risk to the driver, passengers, and surrounding motorists.

While cruising on the freeway at approximately 70 miles per hour with no vehicles or objects ahead. The vehicle suddenly made a loud warning sound and flashed a message on the dash. The emergency brakes were automatically applied and nearly stopped in the middle of the freeway. The car behind had to swerve to avoid a collision. The vehicle then resumed driving forward. I was using the adaptive cruise control.

It seems that when the outside temperature is very warm/hot, when turning the car on or when idling at a traffic light or driving at very low speeds, on occasion the car will abruptly and without warning, shift itself into park and the emergency brake activates. I took the vehicle in for repair on 10/23/25 and was told there was a "thermostat internal failure" and that the "thermostat assembly" was replaced. I was just recently traveling in florida ( reside in NY) and the exact same problems occurred with my vehicle which I can only assume was due to the warmer temperatures that my vehicle has not been exposed to since the last repair as I reside in new york. I feel it should be worth mentioning that when turning off the auto start/stop button, the problems occurred less frequently but still happened on occasion. I've also had 3 other times when the "check engine" light came on. I was told that the first 2 were related to software updates with the transmission. On the other occasion, a "valve body" was replaced. I'm unsure if any of these were related. I've also had to replace the auxiliary battery but I don't think that's related so I didn't upload that file. Although I'm taking the vehicle to be repaired today, I took it in on 04/14/26 because the check engine light came on while in florida when the car shifted itself into park and the emergency brake was activated. The check engine light almost never comes on when this happens which I was told makes it difficult to diagnose issues. I didn't know how long this info is stored so I took the vehicle in upon returning to NY and was given a summary report after they hooked up a scanner. I couldn't get an appointment until today.

The vehicle flashed a critical low battery warning while in operation driving. After traveling approximately 2 miles further, the vehicle warning lights started flashing and the vehicle shifted into park and shut off. In the middle of the road the vehicle could not be shifted into neutral and was stuck in a dangerous place. The emergency flashers shut off after 15 minutes while waiting for a tow truck. This vehicle has had two battery replacements in the last two years.

I am reporting a serious and unresolved safety defect involving a 2024 Jeep Wagoneer series ii 4x4 (VIN: [xxx] ) with approximately 34,000 miles. The vehicle has experienced repeated power steering warnings and functionality issues, and on multiple occasions (approximately three incidents) has unexpectedly shifted itself into park while actively driving. These incidents have occurred since fall 2025 and continued in January 2026 and now March 2026, demonstrating the issue is ongoing and recurring. The vehicle was in the dealership for over three weeks between January and February 2026, at which time a repair was confirmed before the most recent occurrence. Despite ongoing repairs, the issue has not been resolved and no permanent repair path has been identified. The vehicle is currently back at the dealership with no confirmed resolution. The most recent incident occurred on 3/18 when the vehicle shifted into park while in motion, requiring a restart in the roadway. Shortly after arriving at my destination, the battery died and the vehicle became inoperable and required towing. The combination of electrical issues, including power steering warnings and a dead battery, along with the vehicle unexpectedly shifting into park, creates a significant and unpredictable loss of drivability and presents a serious safety risk. My Jeep will randomly not let me back up as it thinks there is something behind it and automatically apply the emergency brake. I brought it to dealership when it was still under warranty for this issue and they could not figure it out. My Jeep will randomly stop as it’s driving, it will still rev when I push the pedal but it will not move in reverse or drive. The automatic shut off says it needs to be serviced and does not work. The automatic emergency braking comes on randomly if I stop. I constantly get alerts that my blind spots are blocked. I’ve cleaned sensors as the dealership has recommended which doesn’t make a difference. My lift gate will only work intermittently. Sometimes it shuts on my kids. My screen only works sometimes. Which is dangerous when I don’t have access to back up camera. I currently owe $31,000 still on this vehicle and I have 5 kids. I really need this vehicle fixed as I cannot afford to get rid of it. It has been unreliable since I’ve owned it and I’m really disappointed in this Wagoneer. It’s very expensive to insure and it’s had nothing but issues. The tow bills are becoming expensive as well.

I purchased car less than 24 hours ago. Service engine light is on. Dealership ran code and say it wasn't diagnosing a problem. And engine light went off. Drove for 3 hours and then engine light came back on. When I drove the car today, I came to a stop at a stoplight and when I went to go the car would not go. Looked down and my car had been gone into emergency parking. This issue was not disclosed to me when I purchased the car.

This is the 3rd time the Jeep wagooner has "bricked up. " the vehicle will shut off without notice and lose all power, the emergency brake comes on and stops vehicle abruptly. This poses safety risk to driver passengers and surrounding vehicles. The car will not be able to be restarted for 30 secs. Once car is restarted, dash lights flash everywhere and car loses power steering. This happen 1st time 2 weeks after I bought a brand new 2024 Jeep Wagoneer. I took it to dealer and they told me it was defective battery. They replaced battery, it has now done it two more times. I took it to dealer again and they once again claim it was defective battery again. 2 defective batteries in 18 mos of new car? there is something else going on w/electrical system in this car that drains batteries and abruptly shuts off vehicle.

On 10/27/25, the thermostat on my Wagoneer exploded. It was supposedly repaired on 10/30/25. I read in the Wagoneers forum that the thermostat is a common issue, but it could be the result of engine problems. On 2/4/26, I took my vehicle in for a routine oil change. I didn't drive the vehicle for a few days. On 2/7/26, I was driving and received an error message stating max engine oil level exceeded. Immediate service required. I returned it to the dealer to fix that issue. On 2/15/26, I noticed that my engine sounded louder than normal and by 2/16/26, the check engine light was on. On 2/18/26, I received an error message saying the engine temperature was too hot. I took it back to the dealership where it is today. I believe the Wagoneers have faulty engines that need to be recalled.

When driving the car this winter, noticed the smell of something burning. After that, the heated steering wheel stopped warming. Took it to a repair shop since there was open no recall related to this. Repair shop diagnosis: - heated steering wheel not working due to electrical short. More info below, pictures included. Finding confirmed customer concern. Attempted to activate the heated steering wheel and found the light to come on for roughly 4-5 seconds then shut itself off. Scanned the vehicle and found 2 fault pertaining to the heating element and steering wheel having an open circuit. Removed the airbag and visually inspected all connectors for the steering wheel. Found the 2 pin connector from the steering wheel to the clock spring to be stuck in the clock spring. Further removed the steering wheel and trim pieces around the steering column and visually inspected the clock spring. Found the 2 pin connector between the steering wheel and the clock spring to be melted together and noticed the wires were getting hot to touch when activating the heated steering wheel. Back probed the connector between the clock spring and the heated steering wheel connector and found less than 2 volts present. Monitored and found while the steering wheel was being moved left to right the voltage would fluctuate dramatically. Recommend replacing the air bag clock spring and steering wheel due to melt damage and further monitor voltage and functionality of the heated steering wheel and other accessories. Highly recommend not operating the heated steering wheel until repairs have been made. Could cause more damage to the surrounding components.

I was driving northbound on us 31 near peru, in. I stopped at a red light and my car auto shut off initiated. However when the light turned green, I beganto drive again and the car died/stalled on the highway. The emergency parking break engaged. Oncoming traffic, who saw a green light were not slowing down and I was afraid I would be rear ended while my car was stalled at a previously red, but now green light. It took multiple attempts in quick succession but I was able to restart the vehicle and continue. I was afraid myself and my kids would be hit and killed. Subsequently my car had had battery issues. Randomly the battery had drained or car will not unlock using key fob.

During normal driving in temperatures below approximately 20–27°f, the vehicle began losing electrical charge as indicated by the malfunction indicator light (mil) and battery warning message. While my wife was attempting to return home, multiple vehicle systems progressively shut down, including electric power steering, abs, auto-leveling suspension, and lane departure assistance. As she was pulling into our driveway, the vehicle completely shut off, resulting in total loss of propulsion and power steering. The vehicle had to be towed to the dealership. This was the second occurrence of this failure. A third incident occurred the following day under similar temperature conditions. During that event, mil and battery warnings appeared again during normal driving. She was able to reach our driveway before complete shutdown occurred. On the most recent incident, the following diagnostic trouble codes were present: p0eec, p1618, p0008, and u0111. These are the same codes that were recorded during the previous two incidents. After the first two failures, kernersville Dodge stated the issue had been repaired and charged us for the repairs. The same failure condition has now reoccurred. This failure results in sudden loss of propulsion and loss of power steering while driving, creating a significant safety hazard.

My 2022 Wagoneer has stalled out 3 times at intersections as a result of the automatic start/stop. This is extremely dangerous! I have been stranded in the intersection 2 out of the 3 times until I was able to turn off/on the vehicle and trouble shoot it.

This complaint involves a 2023 Jeep grand Wagoneer l series iii, a full-size luxury SUV. The vehicle has experienced repeated electrical and powertrain failures culminating in complete loss of propulsion. On 01/22/2026, while traveling approximately 45–50 mph, the vehicle abruptly shut down without warning. The engine lost power, dashboard displays went black, and multiple warning lights illuminated simultaneously. I was forced to steer to the shoulder while a trailing vehicle had to swerve off the roadway to avoid a collision. This was a near-miss event and represents a serious safety hazard involving sudden loss of motive power at highway speed. Prior to that event, the vehicle had already stalled at a traffic light and had exhibited repeated check engine warnings, low-voltage faults, and module communication errors. The servicing dealer documented multiple diagnostic trouble codes affecting the body control module (bcm), ignition system control module (iscm), and powertrain control module (pcm). Manufacturer technical service bulletin software updates were applied in attempts to correct the issue. Despite these interventions, the electrical instability persisted. On 02/12/2026, only days after an auxiliary battery replacement intended to address voltage concerns, the vehicle would not start and required towing to the dealership at my expense. Additional fault codes are currently under review. The vehicle is also subject to an open recall with no remedy available, and the power running board motor has failed with replacement parts unavailable. This pattern of electrical failure, sudden shutdown in motion, and inability to reliably start presents an ongoing and unacceptable safety risk to occupants and surrounding motorists. The vehicle is available for inspection and has been repeatedly evaluated by an authorized dealer.

The lithium battery failed causing a complete loss of power, power steering, power brakes while driving with 3 small children on board. Battery indicator warning on dash. The dealer expressly stated that the car was safe to drive. Obviously that was incorrect. Thank goodness we were able to safely stop and be towed to the dealer. I escalated to "Jeep cares" case number Jeep wagg case 95595257and going on 4 weeks and no one can tell me when the battery will be available and that this battery will only last 3 years. If Jeep has no inventory then that is a red flag and the consequences of this failure puts lives at risk.

The contact stated that when she arrived to pick him up, the fire was extinguished. The fire damage was confined to the engine compartment. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, but it was not a manufacturer dealer. The vehicle was diagnosed, and it was determined that the generator and the start/stop battery had caught fire and needed to be replaced. The contact was advised that the battery was on national back order. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that she had searched online and associated the failure with an active NHTSA national action number: pe24018 (electrical system, hybrid propulsion system, engine, engine and engine cooling). The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

While approaching a stop sign at a speed of less than 10mph with my wife and three small children in the car, the engine shut off and the steering/braking became degraded. I was able to restart the car after stopping, but the auto start / etorque does not appear to be working any more. I will be dropping the car off for diagnostics, but after some research this appears to be a common issue which is already under investigation.

During my ownership of the vehicle I've had to replace the primary battery 3 times due to ongoing electrical problems with this engine.

My air conditioning first went out in 2024 in 105 degree weather with a 3 month old baby, the dealer found the issue and fixed it. Then it went out again recently in the same type of weather and now since I am out of my warranty they are trying to charge me for the same issue, this is definitely a hazard to my health and the health of my children being that the weather can’t afford anyone with no ac. Plus they are refusing to see this as a manufacturer issue, when obviously it is. So I am complaining because this is definitely an electrical issue that could lead to other problems and the manufacturer needs to take responsibility and issue the recall because I am not the only consumer experiencing these issues. The faulty ac could lead to a fire or other serious issues that possibly cause injuries to me or my children.

On two separate occasions within 2 months of each other, the low battery/voltage warning appeared and shortly thereafter, every warning light in the dash came on and various messages appeared on screen stating that there were power/electrical issues. The car then shut down and died while in motion. Extremely dangerous as in the first instance, the vehicle was in the white mountains region of new hampshire (on a main road, rt. 16), with no cell reception, cold weather, and at night, leaving us stranded. The second occasion happened on a busy highway with my wife and young daughter in the car. We were able to get off the highway when the warning lights came on; however, the car died in downtown boston, at night, in the winter (December). The first time this happened, the car was towed, a "software update" was done, and we were back on the road. Then less than 2 months later, the same thing happened, and is this time diagnosed as the etorque motor. There is an open NHTSA investigation for this exact issue. Investigation:pe24018.

While making a left turn on a green left turn arrow the vehicle for no reason slammed on the brakes without any notice. Causing the car to come to a violent stop. And almost causing us to be rear ended. The violent stop caused both of us injuries to our backs and necks.

Repeated failures of electrical system of Wagoneer; vehicle towed to dealer who made some repairs, only for vehicle to fail again. Batteries fully replaced, issue got worse. Safety concern as vehicle will randomly not start even when traveling. Error messages with electrical shorts, failure of entertainment system.

Speedometer read zero while driving on the interstate and rpms felt as if they were off. New electrical cluster and new battery by Jeep have already been replaced claiming it would resolve this issue.

Rearview and 360-degree surround camera intermittently fails or displays a blank/no image when reverse is selected. Failure behavior matches NHTSA recalls 23v-577 and 24v-436 for the same model, but this VIN is excluded from the recall population. Issue affects rear visibility and compliance with fmvss 111. Dealer and manufacturer have been notified.

Hi, I need to bring my 2022 Wagoneer back in for service. I was just in the shop a few days ago for a persistent check engine light, and the issue has returned. The check engine light came back on four days after I picked up the vehicle. This morning the vehicle stalled twice at a complete stop. The front headlights flickered and the engine shut off, but the electronics inside stayed on. I had to press the start button to restart the engine. I also received a “start/stop unavailable” message. Because this is now a repeat failure, combined with a safety-related stall, I need the vehicle fully rechecked for: ess/start-stop system malfunction auxiliary battery condition battery current sensor bms/charging system pcm software updates any tsbs related to stalling or ess on the 2022 Wagoneer please document this as a repeat repair attempt, and if needed, I would like this escalated to a stellantis case manager since the issue is safety-related and occurred immediately after a previous repair. I was driving down the road at 35 mph when the service electric power steering (eps) message on instrument cluster came on. Then when I stopped the brakes were hard to deploy. I tried to reset it by turning it off and on. I had just replaced the backup batter several months back so I don't think that is it. I called the dealership and told them I talked to stellantis and they gave me the star online publication case number s2523000053 rev a. On how to fix it. They said it would be several days and I would need to have it towed on my own. This a systemic problem with these vehicles I have had to pay for a recall because they said it didn't to apply to a canadian vehicle even though it was made in detroit. I bought it with a few thousand miles on it and have had nothing but trouble with it and a dealership that always says I would have to pay since it was canadian. Either the screen is going black or some kind of warning on the dash it seems like every other month.

I was stopped at a red light, stacked about 10 cars deep.   once the light turned green, I pressed the gas pedal, but the auto start-stop feature malfunctioned and turned the car completely off.   I then pressed the button to reactivate the ignition, and pressed the gas pedal again.   after moving forward a few car lengths (or more), the computer engaged the emergency brake and clamped down on the wheels.  I was then rear-ended at about 15-20mph.

I was driving through the parking lot at my daughter’s school, and the vehicle shut off entirely when going at slow speeds. The vehicle lost all power steering, and braking was more difficult. Stopped safely, and the vehicle wouldn’t restart. Dealership confirmed it was a failure of the 48v battery system.

Truck has multiple electrical issues like the auto emergency braking, braking on its own had to turn feature off and now the power steering system, the steering wheel got stiff and truck turn off multiple times. Power steering light comes on then goes away after sitting off for a while.

On September 4th, 2025, my wife and I purchased a 2022 Jeep Wagoneer series ii bearing VIN number [xxx] being sold by carvana. On September 23rd, 2025, the Jeep Wagoneer was delivered to our residence by carvana. The carvana employees unloaded the Jeep Wagoneer from their tow truck and then parked the Wagoneer in our driveway. After the carvana employees departed with our Ford explorer, my wife and I decided to take the Wagoneer for a drive. We loaded our three children into the vehicle and my wife drove, while I remained in the front passenger seat. We traveled approximately one block away from our residence when we came to a stop at a stop sign and the Wagoneer turned off its ignition on its own and put itself into park. We were on a slight incline and the vehicle began to roll backwards under no power, but due to the incline. To prevent this, my wife pressed the brake pedal and the vehicle ceased moving. The only way we were to get the ignition running again was to restart the vehicle by pressing the ignition push-button. The vehicle restarted and there were two error messages that appeared on the instrument cluster. The first message indicated that the start/stop system was unavailable. The second error message indicated that the hood was open. We left the stop sign, in an attempt to return to our residence, where the mechanical failure occurred and then came to a traffic signal that was red on u. S. Highway 11, in three lanes of traffic. We came to a stop and the same mechanical error occurred yet again with the Wagoneer turning itself off and shifting itself into park. My wife restarted the ignition and the same two error messages appeared on the instrument cluster. This time the “check engine” light came on. We also determine there to be heavy thumping in the brake pedal when pressing the brakes. During this first drive in the Wagoneer, my wife adjusted the rear-view mirror and the rear-view mirror fell right off the windshield. Display has constant screen glitching.

On August 22nd, 2025 my family and I were traveling in my Wagoneer down [xxx] , through the bighorn national forest. A dash notification stated that the cars start / stop system may no longer work and needed to be serviced. 5-10 minutes later, a battery light came on the dashboard. We carefully drove out of the mountains into the nearest town: buffalo, wy. We pulled into an auto store. The employee there informed us the alternator was bad. There are no alternators available in the united states for a 2022 Wagoneer. I have been informed by the Jeep dealer that current backorder date to obtain one is 168 days. My family was stuck on the side of the road for 5 hours before we could get a taxi to a rental car place. When exiting the bighorn national forest, there are 5 warning zones that state there are upcoming grades of 6-10% and mandatory brake checks at each of the five zones for trucks (cars optional). This power failure could have been catastrophic for my family. I have come to understand that Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge have been having problems with the etorque / alternator systems since 2021. Now my very expensive Wagoneer is stuck in wyoming. Undriveable. I cannot obtain the replacement part for over 5 months. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. Vehicle speedometer has randomly blacked out on numerous occasions not allowing me to see any of my gauges. While driving on the interstate and merging the vehicle has stalled and rpms stay stagnant yet you can hear the engine revving & then it acts like it will catch up. While driving up hill the vehicle began to stall almost like it was towing something when it was not. Back up camera has failed to turn on (resolved its self after I restarted the car). When I take it into the dealer error codes never seem to pop for these issues even though it tells me to see dealer, and read manual for proper oil and fuel usage. It’s like it has a mind of its own and it worries me to continue driving my three children around when electrical issues randomly happen every month or so & it needs constant updating. Both batteries have been replaced due to these issues draining the life out of them.
