Suspension Torsion Bar problems of the 1997 Jeep Wrangler

Three problems related to suspension torsion bar have been reported for the 1997 Jeep Wrangler. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Suspension Torsion Bar problem

Failure Date: 06/01/1999

While driving at 45 mph and without prior warning front sway bar broke, and the front wheels felt like they were falling off.

2 Suspension Torsion Bar problem

Failure Date: 04/02/1999

Front torsion bar is flimsy and undersized, became stressed under normal operating conditions (no offroading) and gave way. Turning, maneuvering in traffic very dangerous as side-to-side swaying became excessive.

3 Suspension Torsion Bar problem

Sway bar link balljoints popped out on boths sides making the Jeep unstable in turns. The are like this on 9 out of 10 Jeeps I have inspected with low mileage.
