Two problems related to defogger controls have been reported for the 1999 Jeep Wrangler. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
If hvac system is left on maximum heat setting for a length of time, the contacts in the fan speed selector switch melt causing failure of some or all of the fan speed modes and require switch replacement.
Problems with back and door latches breaking and jamming making it impossible to open the doors. Also, flimsy plastic sleeves that connect the a/c/fan/temperature knobs to the control panel break easily making it impossible to use the defroster and panel fans, heater, and a/c.
