Two problems related to instrument panel have been reported for the 2000 Jeep Wrangler. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 2000 Jeep Wrangler. While driving 30 mph, the air bag light illuminated on the instrument panel then both the speedometer and rpm gauge dropped to 0. After one minute, the gauges began functioning correctly and the air bag light turned off. The vehicle was taken to a local repair shop but the mechanic could not diagnose the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure was intermittent. The failure mileage was 67,750 and the current mileage was 67,900. The consumer stated no longer owns the vehicle. Updated 12/30/10.
Instrument cluster will intermittently go out, leaving no speedometer, odometer, or rpm gage. This can go out for several miles, or just blink on and off. It has been doing this for a couple of years, and have already attempted to have it fixed once by a dealership and several times with my son working on it. So far nothing has corrected the problem. Dealership knew what the problem was when first brought to them about 2 1/2 years ago but could not fix the problem. Being on the community emergency response teams, I need a reliable vehicle.
