Two problems related to wiring have been reported for the 2000 Jeep Wrangler. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
2000 Jeep Wrangler. The wiring to the a/c control switch shorts out and causes a minor fire. The switch has been replaced and it happened again. There was evidence of a previous fix in spliced wiring. The wiring harness is no longer available. Research on Jeep related web sites has proven to me that this is not an isolated incidence and occurs in many of the surrounding model years. There is a design flaw in the three posts that connect to the selector switch, they are to close to each other.
Hvac wiring harness and switch melted due to faulty blower motor compounded by inadequate size wire. Chrysler does not even sell a repair kit even though there are new cases constantly on the Wrangler tj on intranet forums. Some are even vehicle catching fire.
