1 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2014

I had my fuel tank replaced by Jeep a little over 2 years ago for the "roll over valve" problem - faulty fuel tank design that Jeep refuses to acknowledge that its a common problem. As well as a safety and environmental hazard -- every time the gas pump clicks off, fuel violently shoots all over the paint, ground, and my person. The replacement tank has started doing this again after maybe 20,000 miles! Jeep replaced a faulty, hazardous part with another. This is an outrage that every time I go to the gas station I have to worry about fuel shooting all over the place, its embarrassing as well. I made an NHTSA complaint the first time but I am making another since the replacement part is doing the exact same thing!.

2 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/26/2013

Every time since purchasing my Jeep on Nov 26th 2013 when filling the fuel tank as it clicks off fuel spits out of the filler neck and on to the body and on the ground. Even when manually filling it spits fuel out before you can release the nozzle. If you are standing in the wrong position it lands on your clothes and shoes. This creates a safety risk of fire as well as the environmental damage.

3 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2013

Vehicle overflows gasoline when filling tank. After nozzle clicks off, several ounces of fuel are expelled through the filler neck, damaging paint and causing a safety hazard.

4 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/30/2013

When the gas tank is filled on my 05 Jeep Wrangler unlimited, the pump does not stop properly, spilling gas over the vehicle, the ground, and the individual pumping the gas. This happens every time, regardless of gas station.

5 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2012

Fuel tank spill when fueling. Happens every time I fuel this vehicle. Gas spills out of the fill tube when pump shuts off. I think this could be a seriuos fire hazard and environmental disaster.

6 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/21/2012

Every time I fill up the gas tank the gas spits out of the filler neck. It does not matter if I go slow or fast. It always happens.

7 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 07/31/2012

When gas tank is filled completely at a gas station. The pump kicks off and then fuel proceeds to spill back out of the Jeep. It seems to be about 8 oz or so.

8 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2012

Gasoline spews out of tank when clicking off when full. This can be very dangerous and gets gasoline on my truck and I have had gasoline spewed on me before. It's not fun going to work smelling like a gas station. There are so many complaints on this issue, why isn't the manufacturer required to fix this dangerous problem?.

9 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2012

Gas tank over flows every time at fill up.

10 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2012

As gas tank approaches full while fueling, the fuel spills out of the filler neck at a high rate without warning.

11 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/30/2012

When filling up with fuel, the fuel tank system does not automatically shut off until after fuel has spilled out of the fuel tank door and onto the ground.

12 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2012

When filling gas tank, gasoline spews from the filler neck prior to the automatic shut-off on the pump engaging. This has been an issue with this particular vehicle since 2008.

13 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2012

Fuel fill spits out fuel every time I fill the tank. It is a dangerous situation due to the volatility of gas.

14 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2012

When fueling the vehicle, gasoline overflows and spews out of the gas tank opening. This happens each time the vehicle is fueled and occurs as the tank reaches full. This is an extremely dangerous and unhealthy situation which needs to be addressed by the vehicle manufacturer. I was shocked to find this is a known and widely reported issue, but not yet resolved by Chrysler.

15 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 12/30/2011

I recently purchased a 2005 Jeep Wrangler. Every time I fill gas, when the pump shuts off gasoline comes spraying out of the vehicle's tank and all over the ground. Approximately a cup or more comes out of the Jeep's tank. I think this is a potential fire hazard and should be addressed by the NHTSA as soon as possible before someone is hurt by this defect. A recall for the item should be mandated by the government and Jeep should be forced to fix this problem. I have researched this problem on the internet and it seems pretty widespread.

16 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 12/28/2011

When filling the fuel tank with gas, the gas pump does not shut off when the tank is full. This causes overflow of gas from the tank. An internet search indicates that this is a common issue with Jeep Wranglers.

17 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2011

The automatic fuel shut-off does not work causing fuel tank to be overfilled. I have fuel spillage every time and it doesn't a matter how fast the fuel is pumped.

18 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 12/17/2011

Fuel tank overflows each and every time the vehicle is filled with fuel. I had a 2004 Jeep Wrangler and never had this problem.

19 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 12/11/2011

Fueling stopper assembly does not trigger gas station pump nozzle to stop dispensing fuel on time. The result is spilled fuel every time due to fuel over flow from fuel tank when ever a fuel fill up is attempted. This happens 100% of the time.

20 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 12/08/2011

Every time that I refill the tank, gas will overflow out of the tank after the pump shuts off. Sometimes the gas will spray out violently, other times the gas will just spill down the side of the Jeep and onto the ground.

21 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/28/2011

When fulling the vehicle the fuel overflows out of the gas tank spilling the fuel onto the rear of the vehicle and ground. This happens every time the vehicle is fueled and it has happened at different gas stations. It does not matter if the gas handle is on auto pilot nor manual fueling.

22 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/21/2011

When filling the gas tank, the shutoff valve to prevent fuel overflow does not appear to work properly and the result is that fuel overflows from the filler neck and runs all over the vehicle and ground. This happens every time it's filled up regardless of how quickly or slowly I regulate the flow of fuel into the tank.

23 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2011

Fuel spills from filler neck while filling up and tank is full. Gas station pump does not turn off. Happens at different gas stations 100% of the time.

24 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/09/2011

Fuel tank overflows at every fill up regardless of the gas station.

25 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/09/2011

Every time I fill up my 2005 Jeep Wrangler unlimited the tank will overflow. It doesn't matter if I let the auto stop click to stop the gas or if I slow down when I know it is getting full, the gas will overflow and leak everywhere. It's a decent size puddle too, not just a couple drips.

26 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2011

Gas tank overflows everytime during fill-up.

27 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2011

Incident mileage on my report is due to buying the vehicle used, but has most likely occurred since date of original purchase. Due to an bad check valve in the fuel tank, overfilling occurs at almost every fill-up, creating both environmental concerns and potential hazardous conditions.

28 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2011

Spit back of fuel when tank is full.

29 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2011

I had bought a Jeep Wrangler with approx 45000 miles. Right around the 55000 the check engine light came on and then I started having gas blow out of the gas tank during refueling. The Jeep now has 85000 and still has the gas blow back. I had taken it to a Jeep dealer and the mention that it needed a smoke test. I found that I had a major evap leak in the fuel system, I had a mechanic replace the fuel hoses. After the repairs. I still have the fuel blow back. I live in the va beach area, where fuel on the ground causes an environment problem especially when I fuel on norfolk naval base. I had fuel sprayed on me and also cautioned the wife, who already had it splash on her face. Luckily, did not spray in the eyes. When pumping gas the automatic shutoff does not kick in fast enough before blow back occurs. It happens with out warning. Is there a resolution to this issue with the Jeep Wranglers?.

30 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2011

When filling the fuel tank, gasoline shoots out the filler neck before the pump shuts off. This happens consistently and at all gas stations tried. My understanding is that this is not an isolated incident and occurs on many Jeep Wrangler vehicles.

31 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2011

My fuel tank overflowed during fuel fill up. This has happened the last 4 or 5 times consistently. I even tried to fill the fuel tank at the slowest speed possible and it still overflowed and came out the filler neck when full.

32 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/21/2011

When trying to put gas into tank the gas overflows out the fill tube.

33 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2011

Every time you fill the fuel tank, fuel spill's out on the side of the vehicle and on the ground causing a very dangerous fire probability.

34 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2011

When filling up gas tank, gas will spill out for fill spout before the gas nossel shuts off.

35 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2011

When filling the gas tank the pump will stop pumping gas but the fuel will splash out of the fill port on my Jeep. There are many youtube vids showing this problem. Gas is expensive so I would like to know why this is happening.
