I traced a loud screeching noise to the oil pump drive assembly. As the engine warmed up the noise subsided but continues to occur. On line research shows this to be a common problem for the 05-06 Wranglers due to a design change from 04 to 05 model years where a bushing at the top of the cam position sensor/oil pump drive that seizes due to lack of lubrication and causes the drive gear on the oil pump shaft to self destruct taking with it the camshaft drive gear which causes loss of oil pressure. Dodge issued the e05 Mar 2005 campaign-engine oil pump drive gear/cam replacement. Letters were sent to dealers to replace the drive gears and cams damaged by this problem. The notification applies to the 4. 0 l engine built from oct 20, 2004 to Feb 1, 2005. My local Dodge dealer informed me that my Jeep has an oct 9, 2004 build date and is therefore not eligible for the recall even though the pictures I showed him of the damage to the gears in my engine. The dealer suggested I try customer service. They referred me to NHTSA to seek a resolution. So after investing over $12,000 dollars a month ago to purchase what I expected would be a reliable winter vehicle I instead have a vehicle that sits in my driveway because we are afraid to drive it. It can't be trusted on the road and I can't risk using it and facing a $4,000. 00 engine rebuild if it seizes. I need some help.
When I go to fill up when it gets full it spills out of the top all over side of Jeep and ground saw there is others out there having same problem very unsafe. I am second owner Jeep should doing something about this. Please help.
When filling up with gas the fuel gushes out of the gas hole when the pump clicks off.
On February 18th 2012, I purchased a used 2005 Jeep Wrangler rubicon from a Jeep dealership. Every time I've filled up for gas, there is an over spill of about 1/8 of a gallon. This happened on 2/27/12, 2/29/12 , 3/15/12, 3/25/12, and 4/23/12. Even when slowing down towards the end of the fill up, it still spills over, just less severe. I took it into the dealer. They performed a fuel system software upgrade on 4/06/12, but that did not correct the problem. This is a huge nuisance (not to mention safety/fire hazard) and from what little research I've done, does not sound like an isolated problem.
Pump kicks off every 2/10ths of a gallon while pumping fuel. Happens whether you are at full flow or just letting it trickle.
When filling the car with gasoline, the automatic shut off does not occur and fuel blows out of the Jeep and down on the ground and me if I am close. It appears that a substantial amount of fuel spills. This occurs at all fill ups it is not gas station specific. This can be a danger if it spews on something hot. Also I would think that it's an environmental concern and it stinks. Very frustrating problem!.
Gas is overflowing when I fuel up. This has happened 5 times already.
My 2005 Jeep Wrangler tj will spit fuel each time I fill the vehicle (overflow) and it will spill gasoline all over the side of the vehicle and on the ground.
When filling the vehicle up with gasoline at a service station an overflow condition occurs where a significant volume of gasoline spews out of the filler neck. The overflow of gasoline is enough to douse the operator performing the fillup, run down the side of the vehicle, and leave a large puddle of gasoline on the ground.
Death wobble!!!! started about Dec 2011 around speeds of 55-60 mph. Car will suddenly start to violently shake. When viewing from behind in another car it appears as if the wheels may come off. I have replaced the shocks, struts, stabilizer bar, track bar, springs, spacers, calipers, hubs, new tires, balance and rotate tire every 5000-6000 miles, new front brakes, new back brakes, two rear alignments, 3 front alignments, and rotors, I death wobble has gone from bad to dangerously worse. My Wrangler is a factory right hand drive Jeep that I use to deliver mail. I was using as my primary car as well. I must drive 25 miles to work via interstate and then another 65 miles on my route. The car consistently shakes when I hit speeds of 45 mph or higher. A bump in the road will trigger the wobble as well. I spoke to two different Jeep dealerships today and was told that there is no solution to my problem. I have been to at least 6 different mechanic shops, one off road shop, and two different alignment shops. I was told that I could try replacing the gear box ($899. 99) and also try replacing my rims! if the maker of my vehicle has no idea on what or how to fix it. . . . . . . . Then who will? I would like to resolve my death wobble. I am extremely annoyed! I no longer feel safe driving my car to and from work and when it rains I am a nervous wreck just knowing I will have to drive my Jeep on the interstate. Sadly its gotten to the point that I will not allow any of my kids in this vehicle. I end up having to leave my Jeep at work in another town if my husband isn't able to drive it to and from work for me. I am willing to fix the problem. . . . . . . If Jeep would just let me know what that is!!!! in good conscious I could never sell and stick someone else with this problem/headache!! also, when I fill my Jeep up with gas, it overflows splashing gas everywhere!.
I bought my Jeep 05 Jeep lj Wrangler unlimited with 20,600 miles and the 1st time I filled it at 20,800 and every single time it whether I have the handle set to automatic shutoff or hand pump it slow or fast doesn't matter what gas station it spews gas all over before stopping today at 31k miles ive had it it slew so bad I got soaked from the waist down having my legs feel a burning sensation along with my feet due to being soaked in gas!!!!!!!!!! I want a recall I looked online most Wrangler owners complain of this issue this isnt a sole complanet as far as im aware why hasnt it been recalled??.
Gas over flows and soaked my pants.
Gas spills out whenever I fuel-up.
Upon refilling my 2005 Jeep Wrangler unlimited with gasoline when the gas pump shuts off there is a blow back of roughly 1 quart of gasoline. This happens each and every time I re-fuel and each time it is roughly the same amount of blow back.
Every time during refueling the gas spits, or splashes out. This causes a significant amount of gasoline to be spilled on the vehicle and the ground. It is not only a waste, an environmental hazard, but a safety hazard. Please discuss the matter further with Jeep. I am not the only owner with this issue, and far many more owners have yet to report this problem.
When fueling at gas station the fuel does not cut off and fuel spills back out of the vehicle onto the person fueling and/or the vehicle and ground. There is no warning and the pump does not cut off.
While filling up my 2005 Jeep Wrangler no matter the speed of the gas flow there is a very large amount of gas overflow. This happens every time and at all gas stations I try.
When I fill my 05 Wrangler it overflows before pump shuts off, this happens everytime I fill up.
When filling up at the gas station, gasoline spills out all over the place, runs down the side of the vehicle and spills out onto the ground.
Fuel spurts out of filler upon each fill up prior to pump kicking off. It comes out with enough force to get onto clothing, etc. This is an obvious safety hazard.
My 2005 Jeep Wrangler has started spitting fuel out when I fill up. It never did it up until this time. It splashes fuel on the ground and down the side of my vehicle. We also get a strong smell of gas in the vehicle when it happen's.
Fuel overflows at all fillups.
Gas overflows when filling up.
I just bought a used 2005 Jeep Wrangler unlimited rubicon and every time I attempt to fill up at a gas station, the pump fails to shut off causing about a half gallon of fuel to spill out onto the vehicle and the ground. This spilling happens every time regardless of the station, the pump and/or the technique used to fill (auto, manual, fast, slow, nozzle all the way in, partially out etc).
When fueling the vehicle it overflows. The fuel always overflows before it triggers the pump to stop fueling.
2005 Jeep Wrangler x, when filling up with gas at the pump, the gas does not shut off when full and gasoline spills out all over the place.
Fuel overflows outside and on the floor when car is refueled.
On my 2005 Jeep Wrangler gas over flows out of the fill tube every time I gas up. I have used many different gas stations with the pumps at many different speeds. No matter what I do, the gas always overflows when I gas up. It has done this since I purchase the Jeep 3 years ago. I would estimate about a quart of gasoline splashes out all over me, my Jeep, and on the ground. This is a serious fire and safety hazard. Some thing needs to be done. When I leave the gas station there is a visible puddle of gasoline on the ground because the fuel backstop valve in the Jeep does not stop the gas from splashing out.
Gas sprays out when filling Jeep.
When refueling 2005 Jeep Wrangler rubicon unlimited gas spills out at completion of fill up. This happens every time vehicle is refueled and gas then runs down side of vehicle.
2005 Jeep Wrangler unlimited - there is a back-splash issue when fueling the vehicle, every time! if you do not just stop it early (before it is full) it will splash back every time you fuel, sometimes quite a bit of fuel spilled. I have talked to several other owners of this make and model Jeep and most of them said they have the same problem. I called Chrysler about this and asked if this was an ongoing issue. The representative said they were not aware of the issue. I find that unlikely.
2005 Jeep Wrangler rubicon. Every time gas is filled up, pump clicks off but gas will overflow from fill line.
Every time I fill my vehicle with gasoline, it sprays gasoline out of the filler hole after the gasoline pump shuts off.
When filling with fuel, this Jeep spits fuel back out the filler on you when it gets full. Happens like 95% of the time no matter how slow you fuel it. This will get someone burned sooner or later. Common Jeep problem listed in online forums.
My 2005 Jeep Wrangler lj overflows when filling up with gas. Everytime the pump will shut off and then gas will come back out of the fill opening.
