Speed Control Springs problems of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Two problems related to speed control springs have been reported for the 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Speed Control Springs problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2015

Cruise control went out about a year ago. Recently the airbag light comes on intermittently with a warning tone. Appears to be a faulty clockspring.

2 Speed Control Springs problem

Failure Date: 08/16/2010

2007 Jeep Wrangler 4x4 safari with esp (electronic stability program). Esp intermittently turns on by itself and can't be turned off. It will eventually turn itself off. Dealer tells me it's caused by a defective clock spring in the steering column, which also controls the steering wheel air bag, cruise control and the horn! I feel this is a safety concern, if any of these devices quit working, because of a defective clock spring!!!!.
