Driver's side front seat belt latch occasionally does not latch also occasionally will not release without having to open roof pull seat belt slack all the way out and stand up in seat to get out of vehicle. Then have to hit and work with latch approximately 2-3 before it will release. If in an accident not sure if seatbelt latch will hold forces or not let you out of a possible burning car. Also fuel backflows from fill inlet at every fillip if I do not stop it before full.
July 10, 2015: driving to work approximately 8:15 am cst. Car in front of me stopped suddenly and I felt the breaks were not slowing the vehicle down enough to avoid impact. With a vehicle on my right, my only option was to go left. I never saw the truck in the oncoming lane and hit head on. The airbag did not deploy on the driver's side. It did deploy on the passenger side, but no one else was in the vehicle with me. The upper body portion of the seat belt did not restrain me and I slammed face first into the steering wheel. I suffered a broken and dislocated wrist that required surgery, severe bruising of face, arms, chest, hips and legs. I feel this is a huge safety concern and should be rectified immediately.
The air bag light on the dash instrumental goes on and off at random.
Airbag light and chime activate when turning. Was diagnosed as faulty clock spring mechanism. Was told it was not under warranty and if not fixed airbags may not deploy.
Passenger side seatbelt will not pull out.
The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. The contact was driving 45 mph when the seat belt warning light illuminated accompanied by a warning chime. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the dealer confirmed that the clock spring for the driver's side seat belt failed. The manufacturer was contacted but the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 61,000 and the current mileage was 69,000.
Under normal driving conditions or even while the vehicle is at a complete stop the front passenger side seat belt will lock up. If the front passenger (my wife) sits back the belt will only tighten. The only way for the seat belt to release and be worn properly again is the belt must be removed and put into a rest position. There is no braking and hard turns or acceleration being done at anytime that this happens. After taking it to the dealer several times I am only told that the problem can not be reproduced and nothing can be done. It happens randomly and usually while we are driving down the highway. Not a good time to have to remove the seat belt in order for it to work properly again. Note; there is no sudden movements being done by passenger. This has been happening for the better part of two years now.
The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler unlimited rubicon. The contact stated that the rear passenger seat belts were defective and would remain locked when secured. The front seat belts experienced the exact same failure two years prior. The dealer was aware of the issue and contacted the division manager on the contacts behalf. The contact was awaiting a response. The vehicle was not repaired. The current mileage was 47,075 and the failure mileage was approximately 15,000. The consumer stated the passenger seat belt would inadvertently lock for no reason and it would require the belt to be disconnected and completely returned to the retractor to release the lock.
