Four problems related to adaptive equipment have been reported for the 2008 Jeep Wrangler. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I purchased a used Jeep that had floor mats that I found out had a safety recall that stated the hole that is used to hook floor mats to the floor board could tear causing gas pedal to stick causing a crash. When I contacted them they told me that they will only fix the issue if I was the original purchaser of the floor mat. Then in a follow up email they stated that the warranty only applies to the original purchaser. . Read more...
On my 2008 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) dashboard, the airbag warning light flashes on every other minute with a chime, an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags. This has been a recurring issue and concern for many 2008 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) owners, including myself, and has been shown time and time again to be caused by a faulty clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. This faulty clockspring is the culprit for potential airbag failure in the 2008 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) during an accident or premature deployment when simply driving around. Daimler Chrysler has refused to address the safety concern of their faulty clockspring that can cause failure of the vehicle's airbags from properly deploying. " right hand vehicles have been recalled but not the left like I drive.
When driving at approx 30 mph car began to overheat. Another time, when in traffic, driving 10-20 mph, car began to overheat, coolant liquid in plastic container was boiling. A very small amount of fluid had escaped through the radiator cap and was bubbling on top of the radiator. I stayed pulled over until traffic cleared, then drove home with heater turned on to hopefully keep the fan running. Checked thermostat 04/09/12 which was not defective. Radiator checked and flushed and found no defect. Replaced fan resistor on 04/10/12. Still fan does not turn off and on correctly (I think) because problem persists although I don't drive it as much anymore. Overheating continues to be a problem and if I am in stand-still traffic I'm afraid now that the fluid will boil again and like other reports, might cause a fire. I couldn't believe it when I read the reports. It was like they were talking about my car. I thought it was just me!.
I purchased a 2008 Jeep Wrangler 4x4 4door. Was going to put new brake pads on the vehicle and tried to use the factory supplied jack, the Jeep was on pretty level ground but the jack was unable to lift the Jeep high enough to take the tire off safely. The jack was in such a high position that the vehicle wouldbe to unstable to continue making this a very dangerous situation waiting for a accent to happen. I now carry two pieces of a 4x4 in case I have a flat that I may need to change. I believe that Jeep needs to address this as a safety issue and issue out new jacks that are able to have the clearance needed along with stability. All 4 door Jeeps are the same since hey came out as a new model in 2007 so this would be from 2007 to 2011. The Jeep come with several tire sizes mine had 20inch tires on them but I had them taken off and changed to a 18inch tire they also come in a 17 and 16 inch but no matter what size is put on at the dealer either stock or as a dealer option the jack system should be the correct size to handle the use and for what the use is for safely.
