On 07/16/2021 at approximately 1600 hundred the smoke detectors in the house began alarming. I immediately noticed smoke coming from the garage. After getting my 6 year old son safely out of the house I immediately called 911. The fire department arrived and took care of the situation. The entire engine compartment was burnt. Before all of this we arrived at the house and parked in the garage. Only 5 minutes went by between parking the Jeep and calling 911. During operation of the vehicle that day there was no indication of any issues. The fire inspector preformed his investigation. As of now I have not received the incident report. Once I do I will supply it. I am waiting to hear from the insurance company regarding when an adjuster will view the Jeep. Thank you.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/17/2020

The defrost on a Jeep Wrangler is very ineffective and poorly designed. The only blower for the defrost is in the middle of the window causing the sides of the front windshield to severely freeze up and become impossible to see out of during inclement weather such as fog, sleet or snow. Basically any type of precipitation during weather that is below freezing will cause this which results in a severe inability to see out of the windshield which is a huge safety issue when driving in inclement weather. This happens when driving at any speed on any road as long as there is precipitation and temps are below freezing.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2020

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2019

Transmission violently shifts out of 1st gear while starting from a dead stop (stop light, intersection, etc) this is extremely dangerous and someone is likely to get hurt or killed when this causes the vehicle to stall. This is a well documented issue and has been affecting Jeep owners for years. Why hasn"t Jeep done a recall on this very dangerous issue??? this happens at least twice a day if not more. Some owners have it happen every time.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/07/2018

Whenever the gas tank is filled, the gas will spurt out of where the nozzle is inserted. When the pump stops, the gas will spurt out of the tank and drip down the side of the vehicle.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/24/2018

Jan 24 2018. I am driving my Jeep jk 2008. 103,000 miles. Stock everything. Was driving it all day in the everglades. All of a sudden as we were exiting the park my brakes stopped working and lights on the dash came on. We were going no faster than 35 mph. All of a sudden there was smoke coming from around the car. We ope the hood there is a fire in the engine area by all of the wiring. We attempted to put it out but it quickly engulfed the entire truck and I had to stand back and watch my entire Jeep burn to the ground!!!!! there was nothing to tell me this was going to happen or to warn me! Jeep needs to be responsible for this. We have burns on our arms. The car burned all the way to the ground. All of my belongings are gone from the fire.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/23/2018

My ac/heater blower motor work intermittently. The horn sounds without being engaged. The windshield wipers will engage by themselves. These issues happen both stationary and while driving. I belive these issues are caused by the total integrated power module. When talking with others about this problem there appears to be a recurring problem with these vehicles. I believe these malfunctions could put me in danger. For example, if I can't defrost the windshield there is a visability problem. Also, assuming it is the tipm there are many other things that will eventually happen.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2018

Engine on the car is burning the oil so fast. (engine get so dry) about every 2000 miles only about half of a quart is left . So, I have to refill the oil tank.

My vehicle begins to act as if it is possessed. When driving all dash lights will flash, windshield wipers will turn on, washer fluid will shoot out. Also while driving everything will lock up making it impossible to control the vehicle. When parked, the vehicle will struggle to start and all of the other symptoms listed above occur.

My automatic transmission has vibrating issues when I accelerate. Took it to the dealership and they said it needs a new transmission. $4300. 00 to replace the transmission. All highway miles and no off roading at all. 118,000 miles on the Jeep.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2017

I started smelling gas around my Jeep . I took it to the dealer . They did the chek valve recall . Gas leak still presisted . So I took it back to the dealer . They told me that the way the tank is designed that it weres the tank thin on top and starts to leak . It also started to leak around the fuel pump area they said due to dirt . This was a 9 hundred 5 dollar fix that I feal is not my fault the Jeep is garage kept and only has 82000 miles on it . Thats crazy to have to replace a tank with that many miles .

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2017

The first of many times happened one morning as I was getting into vehicle. The horn, windshield wipers . The wipers sprayed all the fluid in the reservoir. I could not turn these off. After disconnecting the battery, the engine would not crank for some time and the horn no longer worked. The dealership diagnosed the problem as a faulty horn and replaced the clock spring, horn and a fuse. A few weeks later, while driving, the horn, wipers and lights all came on and I could not turn these off! even after removing the key, the engine and all the above would not shut off! once again, I had to disconnect the battery in order to shut these components off. This has happened numerous times since! the dealership is now saying the problem is with the tipm. But, in the meantime, is this vehicle safe to drive? today, I called Chrysler customer service and they told me that they would document this. Not good enough! in the meantime. . . . . . . I am somewhat fearful of driving my Jeep for the simple reason of the unknown. Not to mention the embarrassment that this brings when stopped at a busy intersection and my horn and wipers start blaring uncontrollably. This must be stopped and Chrysler should declare a recall! please help my Jeep is my only means of transportation and I'm very scared of driving it as I'm scared of the unknown that'd it stall or possibly go crazy on me again. This has happened more than roughly about 18 times in the span of 2 months.

28 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2016

Received a recall for the clock spring. The horn in our Wrangler stopped working had a mechanic diagnosis the problem as the clock spring. Jeep dealership said the part is on back order. Called Jeep and they stated to get the vehicle diagnosed by dealership and they can expedite the part called dealership back and they stated they would charge us to diagnose the problem and it would not help get the part. This vehicle is a safety concern and will not pass inspection so the vehicle can be licensed.

30 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/16/2016

While driving this vehicle, along with two toddlers in the backseat, at 50 mph, without warning, the suspension began to shake violently. As ii had never experienced anything like this in my life, my first instinct was to apply the brakes, as I had absolutely zero control of the vehicle. Wrong move! this caused the Jeep to hop, and skip , I also lost the ability to steer. I then began to pray for my babies, who had been asleep in the backseat. I removed my foot from brakes, and fought with the steering wheel until I could crawl to a stop in the middle of the road!!! I was so shaken up, that I fear for my teenage son, who I share this vehicle with. After this incident, and some extensive research, I cannot believe these vehicles are allowed on the road! they are a hazard to so many innocent lives. Thank god, there was not any incoming traffic, on the highway at thie time. Something has to be done! take action please!!!.

31 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/29/2016

I am having continually increasing episodes where my 2008 Jeep Wrangler 4 dr 4x4 experiences what I can only describe as an electrical "spasm. " all of the windshield wipers, washer fluid manifolds, door locks, & horn all operate continuously, and will not stop unless the battery is disconnected. How can I be sure that this "unknown electrical problem" isn't going to get worse, and by worse, I mean affect something crucial to the safe operation of my vehicle when I'm driving it at freeway speeds? if this vehicle has some electrical problem while I'm driving it at freeway speeds, then a lot of people could be severely injured due to the size of this vehicle becoming uncontrollable. This has happened while the car is stopped/idling, while it is driving, and now, after it had been parked for several days. I have taken it directly to a Jeep dealer immediately after both episodes. The first time, I had to wait several hours before the vehicle could be driven. The 2nd time it occurred I drove it directly to a Jeep dealer, and they could not identify the problem after several days. The manufacturer should at the very least, be able to identify the problem, and redesign whichever electrical component, or system, that's causing the problem. I would even be willing to purchase the part at the manufacturer's cost, if it got rid of the problem.

32 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2016

The clock spring failed and now the airbag, horn, and cruise control does not work. It started with a clicking noise in the steering column when turning, then after a popping noise everything mentioned stopped working. After research there are a lot of people with the same exact issue but no recall has been issued.

33 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2016

I was driving home from work, had driven about 40 miles as I do every day. The person in front of me on the highway had stopped to turn and as I stopped to wait on then, I noticed smoke coming from under my hood. I immediately pulled to the side of the road in a safe place and opened the hood and noticed that my Jeep was on fire behind the engine. I called my wife and then she called 911 while I grabbed my work stuff out of the back. Within minutes the Jeep was engulfed in flames.

34 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2016

S33 / NHTSA 16v - 290 and s43 I have attended the appointment with the dealer and they retained the Jeep for 4 days regarding a recall. After 4 days I picked up the Jeep, but, the came with the excuse that they were waiting for the part in question. I came upset, because how they coordinated an appointment without having the airbag clockspring. After that I have called to the dealer several times following up for the installation or replacement of such part. The recall notice also described that the vehicle had an open recall (s43). This was also a surprise because I have been very diligent dealing with safety issues. The dealer in puerto rico is cabrera hrmnos in arecibo , puerto rico. I will appreciate your support to solve this safety situation. Regards, I don't have any problem with my personal information.
