After my vehicle sitting outside of my job for 8 hours running without my knowledge I then come out to a dead Jeep!, I was told I needed a new tipm why wasn't this recalled and why is the dealership making me responsible for something I had my Jeep 1 month! sad to say Jeep is not taking responsibility for this it is very dangerous that my vehicle can stay on and cut off when ever it wants too!.
Air bag light goes on and off while driving. My issue seems consistent with recalls due to clock spring failure in right hand model Jeeps. Call to Chrysler confirmed as such, but they won't commit to fix until recall investigation underway is concluded.
Head lights and interior dome lights go off and on . Car is not running. Key is not in ignation. While driving clock goes dark and comes back on spontaneously. While parked overnight battery is drained completely. Difficulty starting car need to turn key to off position and lightly push on gear shift leavor, then vehicle will start. The all happens when vehicle is either running or parked in off position.
The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. Whether the vehicle was being driven or parked, the instrument panel lighting illuminated, and the alarms, locks, and windshield wipers activated on their own. The failures stopped when the contact turned the vehicle on and off. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 41,500.
The engine compartment burst into flames after a 15 mile drive home from work. No warning, no nothing! within ten minutes the entire engine compartment was engulfed in an out of control electrical fire. We had just purchased the vehicle from what we thought was a reputable dealer (obviously not). Had taken it back twice in 10 days and on the 13th day and after only 500 miles it decides to spontaneously combust! this is a serious issue with these vehicles and something needs to be done! if it had happened in the garage or worse just 10 minutes earlier while filling up the gas tank what would the outcome have been? this is a very serious issue and our stupid government needs to do something and quit worrying about all the political nonsense all day every day! what the heck are we paying you bureaucrats for? nothing?.
My airbag light continues to go on and off while driving. Upon investigation I am not the only owner who has been experiencing this issue, it is quite common.
I purchased a 2008 Jeep Wrangler 2dr 4x4 from frederico Dodge Chrysler in woodriver illinois on 04/04/2016. I was informed that the win module was defective and needed to go back to the dealer. Red light comes on while driving and the traction control lights comes on as well. I took it back and got issues with them and was told it was replaced. The red light and traction control light is still coming on while I am driving. (electrical issue). I was also informed that I have a rear main seal (engine) that is leaking and transmission coolant lines leaking ( transmission). I took back to them and was informed that there is a difference between a leak/seepage and that would not be covered under my 3000 mile/3 month (engine/transmission) warranty. I have only owned new Dodge vehicles and was treated with professionalism. I bought a used vehicle with the warranty given and was told that it was inspected and was treated like my problems were not there problem. I am asking that this maintenance issue gets resolved under my warranty. Thank you for your time. Respectfully submitted, john a. Ayers.
Possible faulty clock spring issue as seen in many other Jeep Wranglers made after 2007. Airbag light comes on with audible warning every other minute and signals the driver that there could be a failure of the airbag or early deployment. This is a known issue by Jeep but they have chosen to only pursue right hand drive rhd Jeeps even though many complaints have been issued by left hand drive lhd Jeep owners as well. Jeep admitted the original clock springs were failing and said they were working on a new one. I called Jeep yesterday and was told it would not be covered, but that I should hang on to my bills in case it ever becomes covered. I only have 30,500 miles on my Jeep. Many owners have gone through this and only a few have been taken care of. This is a factory product safety issue that should be covered by Jeep.
Started Jeep, windshield wipers would not stop, had no dash indicators, no blinkers, would not come out of park. Had towed to dealership where it still remains. Chrysler can not get part until 03-28-16. They want me to go 3 months without a vehicle that I am still paying for!!!.
Airbag light started to go on and off including a warning sound around 40,000 miles. It comes on and stays on for a while and then goes off and comes back on. Believed to be related to the clockspring.
While driving home last night during a snow storm at approx. 50 mph the engine stalled and the lights started going on and off. Thankfully I was able to make it to the highway shoulder and stop. I attempted to restart the engine but it would not (the light continued to flicker on and off sporadically, they finally stopped after I turned the emergency flashers on. I tried to restart the engine and it started but the lights started their on and off dance again so I went through the process of shutting it off and managed to get the light to stop by turning the emergency flashers off then on again. After approx. 15 to 20 minute I tried a restart and it started with no symptom's so I was able to drive home with no further incident.
Another Jeep same year and model had to have all their front end parts replaced too at the same dealership. Second water pump in two years egr valve replaced but check engine light still on maintenance was done by the manual with this Jeep.
Failed clockspring at 104,000 miles. Intermitted airbag light.
The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the clock spring and the total integrated power module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,401. The VIN was not available.
The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 mph, the windshield whippers activated independently and all the warning indicators illuminated. The contact also stated that the radio began activating and deactivating. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the total integrated power module failed. The contact also stated that the total integrated power module was previously replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 133,000.
The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. While driving at any rate of speed, the vehicle continuously stalled without warning. The contact had to make several attempts to get the vehicle to restart each time the failure recurred. The vehicle was unable to be driven due to the failure and was towed to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing and repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no remedy. The approximate failure mileage was 220,000.
Odometer will not function. Comes on for awhile, sometimes blinks and other times will not work. Took to dealership and indicated internal failure need to order cluster and replace.
On my 2008 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) dashboard, the airbag warning light flashes on every other minute with a chime, seems to happen when turning steering wheel. Dealership diagnosed as a faulty clockspring. This has been a recurring issue and concern for many 2008 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) owners, including myself, and has been shown time and time again to be caused by a faulty clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. This faulty clockspring is the culprit for airbag failure in the 2008 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) during an accident or premature deployment when simply driving around. Daimler Chrysler has refused to address the safety concern on 2008 lhd of their faulty clockspring. (this is the same exact part & # as those recalled from your investigation #pe11019. ) please help us. . . Many many reporting same issue.
My airbag sensor is continuously coming on and off. I noticed that there is a recall on right hand drive vehicles but I suspect there is something to this. As well. . . My electrical system is always on the fritz. Some days the radio works. . . Some days it doesn't. My engine light is constantly on and no one finds anything wrong with the engine. . .
While driving, airbag warning light turns on with a single warning chime. After 5-10 seconds light goes away but returns soon afterwards again remaining on for 5-10 seconds. Seems to occur more during city driving than highway driving. I view this as a safety concern because Jeep owner's manual states, "“airbag warning light” in your instrument panel could mean you won’t have the airbags to protect you in a collision. " I have also heard this is a common problem on 2008 Jeep Wranglers.
When turning on the vehicle the air bag warning light illuminated and has remained illuminated since. The light intermittently goes out when the steering wheel is at or near full deflection in either direction. Based on my research it is likely a faulty clock spring, which has been recalled in the 2007 model but not 2008, despite it being an identical part installed in a nearly identical vehicle. This indication is a direct issue of safety as it shows there could be a failure of the airbag to deploy in an accident.
I just recently bought a new battery and the Jeep hadn't have had any issues and the Jeep just randomly didn't start. I finally got it to start just to find out it was a key module and program wireless module. After further research this is a regular problem in (07-08 models).
I work on drilling rigs in the north east often in remote locations. After returning to the rig from a trip to town with no issues I let the vehicle sit for two days. Upon opting to go to town I went to start the vehicle. I turned the ignition and had all electrical power but nothing to crank the engine. I tested all components I could before coming to the conclusion it was a computer related issue for a Jeep dealer. I made the arrangements and towed the vehicle to the dealership 40 mile away. After having the vehicle for a day along with all my fault finding data the dealer called to inform me it was the tipm. After questioning the rep as to the causes of a failure I was told that it unknown but a very common problem. After an expensive repair and 400 miles post repair I have had no further issues.
As I was stopping at local arby's restaurant for lunch, my 2008 Jeep Wrangler sahara unlimited started smoking from under the hood. It smelled like electrical wires burning. It ignited before I could exit the vehicle and within a couple of minutes it was totally engulfed in flames. There were several witnesses who saw the fire. I immediately called 911 and within minutes the fire department arrived and put out the fire. The Jeep is a total loss.
Airbag light and warning bell goes on and off repeatedly. This seems to be a well documented concern and points towards safety issues extending from non working air bags to a driver distraction. This problem also seems to be indicative of Chrysler's quality control and poor customer service.
On my 2008 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) dashboard, the airbag warning light flashes on every other minute with a chime, an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags. This has been a recurring issue and concern for many 2008 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) owners, including myself, and has been shown time and time again to be caused by a faulty clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. This faulty clockspring is the culprit for potential airbag failure in the 2008 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) during an accident or premature deployment when simply driving around. Daimler Chrysler has refused to address the safety concern of their faulty clockspring that can cause failure of the vehicle's airbags from properly deploying. " right hand vehicles have been recalled but not the left like I drive.
Over the last month or so, the air bag light goes on and off at random times. Sometimes it will not come on at all and other times it will go on and stay on. Also, over the last few days, I've noticed a 'shaking' while driving, starting around 50mph.
Totally integrated power module failure.
Various dash lights turn on and back off after a couple of seconds. I had the problem in Aug. 2013, and the dealership replaced the clock spring for $550. Less than two years later, and the problem has resurfaced. Very disappointed to see that only the 2008 rhd were recalled.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 14v631000 (electrical system, visibility) and 16v352000 (air bags). The part needed for the repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available. Parts distribution disconnect.
The air bag dash light came on, indicating a fault in the airbag safety system. Then the seatbelt light came on even though the seatbelt was fastened. It seems that when the driving lights were on, the brake lights would not light at all; and the turn indicator did a fast blink. The dealer believes the clock spring in the steering has a short and caused the other electrical faults. So the car seems to have a non-functional airbag, and no brake lights. This is a dangerous failure. It appears this is a common failure model on Jeeps, but they have not issued a recall on this VIN yet.
Driving on the interstate the all of the dash warning lights came on and blinked(abs, esc, traction control, brake, seatbelt) then the vehicle stalled causing loss of control. Luckily no vehicles around and I regained control after going in the median. Put in 4 wheel drive and got out. The vehicle then stalled again turning everything off including 4 way flashers when I stopped at a light. It was dark and the Jeep is dark green. I had a flashlight to warn other drivers. Very dangerous situation. I opened the hood and pounded my fist on the main fuse box. After 3 minutes the vehicle came to life and I started it to get off roadway.
While driving on the road the Jeep starting flashing the esc light, the traction control, brakes, abs and the speedometer would skip and not give a reading. The headlights would also flicker. Just to note the altenator and battery are good. This could have caused me loss of control in slippery conditions.
Frequently when I try to lock my door (with remote entry key), the Jeep will honk, but I notice that 1 or both of the doors have not locked (sometimes diver, sometimes passenger, sometimes both). After much experimentation, I can not find a pattern to this. Unlocking and re-locking resolves the problem. Sometimes when unlocking, my Jeep makes a loud honk. I have also had trouble starting my Jeep a couple times. I go to turn the key, and there is no cranking (lights do turn on). After removing the key and trying again, there is no problem. I had one instance where my Jeep was running, and the radio system became completely unpowered (no radio, no time on lcd, nothing). After about 1 minute, the power was restored. This combination of problems makes me worried that this is related to the tipm, which many other Wrangler owners are having a problem with. My problems are not yet endangering (although definitely annoying). I am hoping there is no progression of symptoms like other Wrangler owners have.
While driving, the airbag light started flashing and an audible chime went off each time the light flashed. The light and chime would appear about every 5 minutes. I took my vehicle in for service and found out that the problem was the airbag clock spring. I also found out that there has been a recall on rhd vehicles of this same model for the airbag clock spring. After researching the problem, I found out that there have been numerous reports of this problem for lhd vehicles with no recall. Are they only recalling the rhd vehicles because majority of them are driven by government employees, and they expect everyone else to pay $600 to have this problem fixed?.
