When I go above 45 mph on a bumpy road, the Jeep starts wobble uncontrollably until I almost completely stop the vehicle. Replaced, all tires complete brake system. Still happening!.
Steering wheel shaking at about 50 mph. Then warning lights on dash came on abs- esp and bas. I slowed down drove home and parked it. Can’t get into shop until next week. Jeep has less than 48,000 miles. Not safe to drive!.
Gas going all over the place and on me. Also the Jeep jerks so bad that I almost hit my head. The transmisson was changed 30,000 miles again and runs like crap.
I was driving my Jeep Wrangler 2008 and stated shaking severely which was difficult to control. After conducting some online research I learned this is a common problem with Jeep Wranglers and it's called death wobble.

While traveling down the road when you slow to turn a slight curve and press brakes the Jeep goes into a uncontrollable shake in the entire front end. You can not stop it by applying brakes because it makes it worse. You have no control of the shake and it even shakes the steering wheel and whole front end of the Jeep. Eventually it pulls out of it after several feet but you feel the whole front end is gong to come off the shake is that violent. I have almost wrecked my vehicle trying to hold it on the road while turning and had other cars almost plow me from the back. It is very scarey and you have no warning when it is going to happen.
Driving 40 mph or over will cause car to harshly shake uncontrollably making it extremely difficult to steer and control the vehicle. Completely unsafe to drive on a freeway as the only way to get the car to stop shaking is to completely stop. Because of all the shaking causes other suspension and wheel problems. Bolts on suspension and wheel start to loosen up causing another safety issue. Very common problem for Jeep Wranglers from 2006 to present.
Developed death wobble on the highway at 65 miles an hour. In researching I see Chrysler says this is not a safety issue. I can assure you it is. It is a designed flaw according to the mechanics I had look at it. A very expensive repair that Chrysler will not cover. I luckily somehow kept the vehicle under control despite the steering shaking uncontrollably, so bad the vehicle lifted off the road and skidded sideways.
There is a used car dealership in phoenix arizona called prime auto, phone 602-737-3275. I am working with the arizona attorney generals office and have (within just a few days) collected stories from 3 other individuals with similar issues, being sold a used car that was unsafe on the roadways - my situation was a death wobble in a Jeep Wrangler, blinkers malfunctioning, wiper blades not working properly - two of those are a legal responsibility of the dealership (seller) to ensure in working condition and they failed. They also attempted to fradulently represent my cars trade in value by showing me a kbb. Com price that is only for cars traded in requiring repairs, I traded in a near new Jeep. If the ag's office does not act on this claim I would hope that your office would, or at least work together in bringing charges to stop prime auto from selling cars until a full investigation is complete and all previous customers contacted and made available their legal remedies for the dealerships actions in selling unsafe vehicles that could potentially harm multiple, victims, not just the buyer. . Everything that was found on diagnostic check replaced. Still paying for car. Not able to drive it. Has a dangerous death wobble. This is the worst vehicle made. Don't know what to do. Cannot get plates for Jeep that eill never pass inspection. What can I do .
Vehicle started to shake at 65 mph, ( death wobble), scared the hell out of my wife!! replaced steering damper and link arm at repair shop- $743. 00. Could have caused a serious accident. It was so bad I had it towed. Chrysler needs to fix this or someone will die!!!.
Tl the contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. While driving 50 mph, the front end of the vehicle and steering wheel shook without warning. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The contact mentioned the failure to an independent mechanic who stated that the issue could be related to the tires. The manufacturer was contacted and advised the contact to take the vehicle to a Jeep dealer for diagnostic testing. The failure mileage was 90,000.
While driving approx 60 mph I hit a bump in the road. . . Car started shaking uncontrollably. . Steering wheel was shaking . . Had to slow immediately. . . Was almost rear ended on highway. . . Luckily the person behind me wasn't too close and able to slow to a stop. . . This is an incredibly dangerous situation and Jeep is claiming there is nothing wrong. . . My car was purchased new and is totally stock. . . I read that its described as the "death wobble". Is Jeep waiting for someone to die before acknowledging the problem?.
The death wobble!!!! when I hit a bump or pothole . I feel my Jeep is literally coming apart. My Jeep is 2008 and this has been an issue sknce we bought it anout 5 years agao. I only drive when its emergency. I will not take highways. Its absolutely terrifying. Why is there no recalls for death wobble on the Jeep 2008. This is not just a problem on newer modles. I want it fixed for free. I cant even sell it. Because people with Jeeps know about it!!!.
The front end developed a bad shaking. If you are ridding at 60 to 65 mph and hit a very slight bump the front end develops a shake that causes you to loose controll and have to come to an abrupped stop even is you are on a major highway. Jeep calles it a death wobble but they said its not a recall ! are they crazy ? my wife almost got killed. She had to come to a sudden stop on rout 18 in new jersey while driving at 65 mph and a truck was barreling down on her. Thank god the truck was able to stop in time. It happend to the same car 4 tims since I own it. It seems to happen every 50,000 miles.
While driving this vehicle, along with two toddlers in the backseat, at 50 mph, without warning, the suspension began to shake violently. As ii had never experienced anything like this in my life, my first instinct was to apply the brakes, as I had absolutely zero control of the vehicle. Wrong move! this caused the Jeep to hop, and skip , I also lost the ability to steer. I then began to pray for my babies, who had been asleep in the backseat. I removed my foot from brakes, and fought with the steering wheel until I could crawl to a stop in the middle of the road!!! I was so shaken up, that I fear for my teenage son, who I share this vehicle with. After this incident, and some extensive research, I cannot believe these vehicles are allowed on the road! they are a hazard to so many innocent lives. Thank god, there was not any incoming traffic, on the highway at thie time. Something has to be done! take action please!!!.
My issue is commonly referred to on the internet as the Jeep "death wobble". At around 50-60mph the front of the vehicle, wheels and steering begin to shake violently and uncontrollably. The only way to stop it is to brake to a complete stop. It's very dangerous and disconcerting wen this happens in busy traffic on the freeway. Have had wheels balanced and tracking done several times, but issue still occurs - starting around 3 or 4 year ago.
I have complained to the NHTSA once before but nothing is happening. My Jeep is experiencing a "death wobble" so bad that I have lost control of my vehicle. I have taken it back to Jeep dealer to get the problem fixed, but they claim that it is not a problem it clearly is a problem, and I have looked this condition up on the internet. Many people have experienced the "death wobble" yet Chrysler is not fixing a very dangerous, and life threthening situation.
1. Hit a bump going 55mph on the highway and experienced the death wobble. Had to hit the brakes and slow down immediate to 25 mph. Super dangerous on the freeway. Thankfully this was a city freeway that had a speed limit of 55mph. I don't know what would've happened if I was going faster, say on an interstate where the speed limit is 80mph. 2. Whenever I fill up the gas always overflow. So each time now I have to squeeze the pump gently and hold it for the entire fill up. 3. The rear caliper sticks sometimes.
Jeep death wobble - noted on many Jeep forums, Wranglers are notorious for this. Driving on the freeway at approx. 70 mph, accelerating swiftly when entering a freeway on-ramp, on surface streets with potholes and/or bumpy ride - the vehicle begins to shake vigorously and loudly. The steering wheel shakes and as well as the whole front dash - literally feels like your vehicle will break in half. The only way to stabilize is to bring speed down to 20-30 mph. This is very dangerous, especially on the freeway. I had to drive with my hazards on at 30 mph on the freeway in order to maintain control of the vehicle.
The death wobble is a nightmare. It's terrifying, not other way to describe it. The entire car shakes so violently you have no choice but to stop. It happened on busy highway (NJ turnpike) and I almost caused an accident because I had to stop the Jeep with people travelling at speeds of 65mph and greater. I've called dealerships, they don't know how to fix it. It sounds like a waste of money for me to even attempt to fix it. Why has the Jeep Wrangler not been recalled for this reason? it's outrageous for the amount of money these cars cost.
Death wobble, 50+ mph, minor bump violent front end shaking, unable to steer or brake. Coast until near stop and then continue as if nothing happen. To be on safe side replaced entire front end with quality parts as no part tested bad but replacement parts USA made were better quality than original. Stock 45k vehicle. Combination of poor design with slight wear. Any combination sooner or later is going to cause serious injury. Research shows this happens often with no actual recourse, it was expensive but safest recourse. Not sure why this has not been address by manufacture as online video's are accurate. Trust me, six flags has nothing that will rattle you more.
While traveling on a highway at 50 mph, I hit some rough road and some shallow potholes. For the first time, I almost lost control of the steering wheel when my Jeep suddenly shook violently. I stepped on the break and pulled over on the shoulder and stopped. Then I drove again and the Jeep was just fine. After researching on the problem, from then on, I tried to avoid potholes or rough roads and slow down my speed to 40 mph on a freeway to avoid the so called "death wobble" until I had money to have the car fixed. The dealer changed all defective parts including struts and stabilizer and costed me more than $700.
Experiencing what has been called "death wobble. " violent shaking and unable to safely drive on hwy. If you hit a bump going over 55 you will most likely experience this and can only stop to regain control. This may be a deadly problem! has happened numerous times since purchasing this Jeep in July of 2015 and we've only had it 3 months. No dealer support or help on the problem after first attempt to resolve the issue.
It has only happened once so far, but it was very scary. The front wheels began an uncontrollable wobble. I was going 55-60 mph and had to wrestle the car off the highway as it was fighting to stay on road. It felt like the front wheels were falling off. The car behind me almost hit me. It was fine once I stopped the car and hasn't happened in 2 weeks. Upon checking the internet, there are a whole lot of people with the same thing happening to them. They even have a name for it, it's called "the Jeep death wobble" and it's common in Jeeps Wranglers of all ages. And most people have it happen to them several times. Look it up. I talked to dealers and Chrysler corporate and they all said "we have heard some stories, but don't have a real fix for it. ". They said it could be caused by "adding lifters to your car", which is a joke, because everyone that was complaining about the Jeep death wobble have stock Jeeps and are not taking them off-road. It's an issue Jeep is ignoring until there is a death, which is bound to happen soon.
When braking from a speed of 60mph or greater, the front end steering began to shake violently causing the steering wheel to vibrate back and forth. It would only subside when releasing the brake pedal. The vibration felt like an unstable oscillation that would eventually cause the steering wheel to make a sharp turn if the brake was not released. This symptom was repeatable. The vehicle was brought to a Jeep dealer for servicing. They attributed the problem to "steering damper had play and was leaking". Problem was corrected by replacing the damper and associated hardware (hex bolt and locking hex nut).
The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. While traveling at an unknown speed, the rear tires started wobbling. The contact heard the sound, but the failure was not visible unless someone was traveling behind the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who diagnosed that the axle housing and the cv joints needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop who diagnosed that the axle shafts needed to be replaced due to the axle shaft being bent. There was also a presence of a leak. The seal on the passenger side fractured without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 92,350.
Driving 60 mph on highway when front end of car began to shake uncontrollably . Had to pull over and stop. It happened two more times during my trip. 2008 Jeep Wrangler.
I was traveling on a busy highway at a speed of 65 miles per hour when out of the blue the Jeep started to shake uncontrollably. To make matters worse, I had a semi right behind me hauling a gas tanker. Fortunately for me I was traveling in the speed lane which is adjacent to the emergency run off the lane. I let my foot of the gas and rolled/trembling off the highway into the emg lane till I came to a complete stop. After catching my breath and my heart. I proceeded to get out of the car to check and see if there was something wrong with the front end axle. I did not see anything problem so got back in the Jeep and drove off. I drove about another 50 miles that night and was not able to duplicate the problem at any speed. So a couple of days later I took the Jeep in to see my service advisor at planet Dodge in doral, FL. After a brief description of the symptoms and what happened, the service advisor calmly said it's a common problem called "the death wobble". So I am now having to drop off this Jeep in order to get a diagnosis and have the problem repaired. I hope it never happens to anyone; especificaly my mother who often drives the Jeep. This is a very very dangerous condition which will eventually cause accident and may even cause fatalities. There needs to be a class action suit filed against the manufacturer. Or at the very least a recall.

Typical "death wobble" that I was unaware of until researching this morning. Very scary and with only 25,000 miles an no off roading on this Jeep, this should not happen and certainly not something I should have to pay to repair!.
The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. While driving at approximately 60 mph after driving over a bump or depressing the brake pedal, the front end shook uncontrollably. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the steering dampener failed. The tires were rotated and balanced, but failed to repair the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 88,000.
The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the front end of the vehicle would shake uncontrollably. The failure recurred numerous times. My Jeep's horn began honking, wipers came on, door locks began locking and unlocking. Nothing stopped until I got home and my husband disconnected the battery. He connected it several hours later and it was fine. I took it to the dealership where they told me nothing could be done as the problem had stopped. Several months later, the same thing occurred along with the a/c shutting off. We went through the same steps; disconnect battery, reconnect and took to dealership. Again I was told that they really couldn't diagnose because nothing was happening at that point. Last night my Jeep began shaking violently and scared me as I could not regain control. I had to slow and pull over so it could stop. My husband came to get me and was following me when in addition to the past things happening (I call it possessed), the warning lights came on; brake, engine, abs, battery, etc. It then stalled as I was turning. Luckily the woman coming the opposite direction slowed and went around otherwise I would have been hit. My husband towed the Jeep to the dealership and left it there, and told them to fix it as it is a real road hazard. In reading about Jeep complaints, I'm assuming it is a "tipm" problem and something called a "death wobble". I am absolutely shocked that this hasn't been recalled.
When driving on the expressway at a speed of approximately 70 mph, the left front tire struck a small pot hole, the front suspension began shaking violently, removing drivers grip on the steering wheel. After regaining wheel grip, driver began rapid deceleration while steering off to the shoulder. Shaking subsided around vehicle speed of approximately 40 mph and then a complete stop was achieved without incident. No traffic was immediately present at the time. Nothing was found during initial inspection on roadside and vehicle drove properly after resuming cautiously.
