Two problems related to engine failure have been reported for the 2009 Jeep Wrangler. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Tl-the contact owns a 2009 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated the while driving 70 mph, the engine loss power as the low oil pressure light illuminated. The vehicle was coasted to the side of the road. The ignition was turned to the off position. The engine failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the contacts resident. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the entire engine, cam shaft position sensor, timing cover assembly unit and oil pressure valve needed to be replaced. The failure was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000. Jb.
We where driving down the road and the vehicle came to a sudden stop we smelt the clutch and there was oil on the engine and ground . We saw a connecting rod cap hanging out the side of the block. A mechanic removed the oil pan and found 2 connecting rod bolts broken laying in the oil pan. It was complete engine failure due to the connecting rod bolts. Have gotten complete motor from Jeep remanufacture.
