The manual transmission malfunctioned, it is available for inspection upon request. My safety and others are put at risk due to the transmission not accepting first gear when in 1st gear, and it “pops” out of gear unexpectedly, leaving me and others in the middle of an intersection. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by dealers, the manufacturer knows about the problem, to my knowledge. There were not any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms prior to the failure. This issue happens very frequently, and happens to thousands of others with this Jeep. And it’s extremely dangerous.
Tipm failure while driving is very unsafe. Can cause lights, wipers, and other failures while driving, including intermittent dangerous stalling and non starting. Please don’t wait until deaths or injury occur before action of this widely known issue.
First gear keeps popping out when crossing interception it could get dangerous.
First gear pop out.
When I purchased the vehicle I had noticed it made a noice , I had a mechanic take a look at it and mentioned the sub frame was welded and that the car was very rusted and falling apart. I went back with in the 15 days and under 500 miles and brought it to jason's attention (the person ho sold me the vehicle, jason argued that all Jeeps sub frames are like that from factory, even tried comparing it to another Jeep he had. I had took the Jeep to a few shops for evaluation and all of them came back with the same bad results that the car was a safety hazard. The vehicle was advertised at dealer "that car place" as a good reliable and safe car. My big cocern is that I know very little about cars and I don't feel comfortable in a car that has safety hazards for others and my own safety. I had requested a different vehicle and the reply I gt from jason was that he couldn't do that because he had brought down the price an had given me a discount. I don't think its fair for him to use that excuse and deny my request just because I didn't ask him to it was by his choice.
Manual transmission pops out of 1st gear on acceleration forcing the driver to quickly put into 2nd gear. This happens without warning and does cause a safety hazard. If the vehicle stalls out when going into 2nd gear it could easily cause serious injury or death.
******* tipm issues *******while driving 70mph down interstate the Jeep lost all power and control abilities and came to a screeching halt in the middle of the interstate. I immediately tried to start up and was like it had a dead battery. Cars were swerving and blowing like crazy trying to avoid me and not wreck. Once traffic was somewhat stable I got out to push Jeep off to side of interstate and a another motorist stopped to help. My passenger was hurt from the sudden stop when her knees went into the dash. The seat belt did not restrain her resulting in her left knee getting bruised and her right knee got a cut. I have since researched this issue and have found this to be a very common and serious issue with these models. We are both lucky to be alive from this being that several vehicles nearly hit us as well as almost hitting others. There needs to be a warning addressed to all owners as this being a potential wreck less condition. I would like someone from Chrysler or the highway safety council contact me at cgodwin52@gmail. Com.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2009 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the vehicle overheated when shifted into 4 wheel drive. In addition, the air bag warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v290000 (air bags) and 16v352000 (air bags) however, the parts to do the repairs were unavailable. The manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000. Part distribution disconnect.
The bracket that holds the tie rod on broke off the truck and had to be welded on. Death wobble for at least 9 months. Replaced inner & outer tie rod ends, 2 stabalizer bars, shocks, sway bar and still shakes. Called Jeep corp. And they said sorry but they werent paying to get it fixed.
Bad design on shift cable bushing. It disintegrated where it attaches to the transmission, bought a replacement part from the dealer but it won't stay on. Should be covered on the power train warranty but dealer says it isn't.
Transmission overheats when driving uphill even in the snow. (needs a tranny cooler). Air bag sensor failed. Not covered but same part failed in 2007 and is covered by warranty.
Driving down the road and my Jeep shut down. I was in the middle of traffic trying to miss cars but I had no power steering. I pulled to the side of the road and took it to the shop. They had to replace my tipm module. I would like to have someone contact Chrysler to have them put in a recall so this does not happen to anyone else.
Transmission overheating. Took vehicle (3. 8l v6 4x4) in for trans cooler line replacement. Was told by dealer's service department that cooler line connection parts were bad (note: this is a recall item on the 2009 3. 6 l engine).
Cracked exhaust manifold drive side, broken bolt on passenger side exhaust manifold.
The Jeep caught fire from what is thought to be vegetation caught up and under the skid plate. The vehicle was being driven on and off road.
Couple things. While in motion in 1st gear, the vehicle will pop out of gear suddenly, making a loud clunking noise. Also, when filling up the tank, it will overflow.
The contact owns a 2009 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that NHTSA campaign number 13v234000 (power train, steering) had exceeded a reasonable time for repair. The dealer advised the part was not available for repair. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact did not experience a failure.
Was at a stop light, turned green, as I was attempting to turn across traffic, it popped out of 1st gear leaving me stranded as oncoming/opposing traffic approached. Nearly causing a sever accident. My family was I. Extreme danger of being hit head on by a truck going 45 mph. (within his designated speed limit). Has been to the dealer several times unable to duplicate my issue but have video documentation proving it. Their is currently a TSB on my issue but very expensive repair. Have read many complaints of Jeep knees w/this same issue! how many people/families have to die before this is a called back for repair by the Chrysler corp.
Under normal driving of the Jeep in four wheel drive high range, the transmission warning of overtemperature comes on. This is to warn of a high temperature and help prevent the oil from overflowing onto the exhaust and causing a fire. This warning happens everytime the Jeep is driven in four wheel drive high range on any sandy surface. This is a defect in the proper sizing of the transmission cooler. I have spoken with numerous persons with the same results. The dealerships response is to change the transmission cooler with the aux cooler now offered, but this is a the owner's cost. I was instructed by a claims agent, [xxx], at Chrysler that there is no recall so they declined my claim. It is disappointing that I want to be proactive in preventing a know issue with my Jeep and the answer is that there is no recall so the are declining to address. Please let me know if there is more information that I can give on the situation. Thanks for your time.
2009 Jeep Wrangler. Consumer states problem with transmission the consumer was informed by the dealer a recall had been issued due to the transmission light not functioning properly. The consumer stated had the warning system been working properly, he could have stopped and prevented excessive damage to the transmission.
The transmission oil temperature got hot and boiled over. I believe this is due to Jeeps poor transmission cooler design. It is on the bottom side of the radiator and does not receive direct air flow to keep cool.
Transmission pops out of first gear routinely. It is a safety concern and occurs when crossing traffic at turns elminating drive to wheels and leaving operator vulnerable to injury or death from oncoming traffic. Jeep has issues TSB TSB 21-001-10 rev a but no recall. This is a known issue with many vehicles with same transmission. There will be injury or death from this one day.
The contact owns a 2009 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at 20 mph, the vehicle suddenly shifted from first gear to neutral. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where the contact was told although the failure could not be duplicated, they could install a first and second gear synchronizer. The vehicle was at the dealership at the time of the complaint awaiting the part. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000. The current mileage was approximately 25,000.
2009 Jeep Wrangler hesitates when accelerating, sometimes loses power, and/or bucks randomly. When starting from a stop, the vehicle will take some time to start accelerating, with the delay being in the order of 2 seconds or more. When merging, the vehicle sometimes loses power if you step on the accelerator hard. When driving the vehicle and accelerating gently, it sometimes hesitates or 'bucks' and then gains power.
