Four problems related to speed control springs have been reported for the 2009 Jeep Wrangler. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Clock spring in steering column has failed. Air bag warning light is on, horn does not work, cruise control does not work, traction control light is on. I drive in very dusty conditions while delivering us mail, records show a recall was issued for this Jeep and this problem. Records also indicate that the recall work was completed. But I have the exact same problem that the recall was supposed to fix? what can I do?.
The speed control failed, shortly after that the airbag warning light illuminated. Jeep service had to replace the clock spring to fix the issues. The airbag warning light was intermittent, it would eliminate whenever the stirring wheel was turned and then reset shortly after returning to center. If any force was applied to the stirring wheel I. E. Gently pulling on it or pushing on it it would also cause the airbag warning light to illuminate. The speed control failure was complete. It would not activate at all after failure.
On a 2009 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) dashboard, the airbag warning light flashes on every other minute with a chime, an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags. The vehicle also no longer has functioning speed control. This has been a recurring issue and concern for many 2007-2012 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) owners, including myself, and has been shown time and time again to be caused by a faulty clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. The faulty clockspring is the a safely concern due to a potential airbag failure in the 2009 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) during an accident.
On the 2009 Jeep Wrangler 4-dr 4x4 (lhd) dashboard, the airbag warning light flashes on every other minute with a chime, an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags. The abs esp and bas lights come on when going over a bump, having a car wash or going around a corner. This has been a recurring issue and concern for many 2009 Jeep Wrangler 4-dr 4x4 (lhd) owners, including myself, and has been shown time and time again to be caused by a faulty clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. It's all over the web on various online Jeep forums. This faulty clockspring is the culprit for potential airbag failure in the 2009 Jeep Wrangler 4-dr 4x4 (lhd) during an accident or premature deployment when simply driving around. Daimler Chrysler has refused to address the safety concern of their faulty clockspring that can cause failure of the vehicle's airbags from properly deploying. I have spent over $1000 replacing parts and getting the Jeep Chrysler certified technicians to diagnose the issue and resolve it but to date they have not and the lights are still on.
